Hornets Discussion

First team in the West to clinch the playoffs. What a remarkable season and unexpected too.
Knicks played well but CP3 was just too good. Pedja scored 10 pts in 2 minutes in the 4th quarter to ice it.

What do you expect from NO in the playoffs? How far?

Another easy victory against Golden State...CP3 was funny, when 4th quarter started and BS wanted to put him on the bench he was saying "please, please, please... I wanna play..." Later he told Peja to get up from the bench "get up, get up... we need you now" and then turned to Byron "they are playing zone... we need Peja and West".
That is real leader of the team!

If they stay on the top they'll reach WC finals!

They do have a VG shot at that w/ LA and SA in the 2/3 bracket. They'd have to win at least one in Utah though, that won't be easy.

If they can stay up top they better hope they catch Denver or Golden State first round. Its like an insurance policy. Denver sucks and I hate the way they play. They gave up 151 points to the freakin Seattle Sonics tonight. I'd be embarassed to play for them at this point. Its even worse when you watch them. Its like a pickup game.

Does a full-time return to New Orleans mean a full-time return to decent health? If so, that would probably mean a return to the playoffs for the Hornets in a West that isn't as deep as we've come to expect.

really ?

what a robbery

how can You not hate lakers when You watch something like this

lakers had to win and refs did their part again

8-5 is just pathetic

I haven't seen so many bad calls in a long time and they went one way

Nowhere near.

NO showed mettle coming back, that's my boy By Scott's influence. They showed a lot more tightness in the 1st quarter than one would expect to see from a 1st seed, although there's not much separation between any of the top 6 seeds this year. Not to say that I'm pleased with another Rudy 3 exposition that let NO back in.

Kobe came out looking pretty good if the MVP voters are using this game as a litmus test. I know you liked that double pump.

Didn't watch the game, but looks like the Hornets just turned it on a little too late. Not gonna beat many teams letting yourself get down by 30.

It'll be interesting to see how both the Lakers AND the Hornets deal with their inexperience issues in the playoffs. Lakers young guys should be steadied by Bryant and Fisher, but I still kinda figure this will be a "learning" year for their group. And I don't really think the Hornets are ready...

Bynum's probably out for the year. He still has swelling and they took him off a time table. So learning year is probably not by choice if you're right (and I leaned towards your opinion even before the Bynum update).

Can somebody explain me why Pargo almost always has more taken shots than minutes on the floor?
Peja really likes to play in the Staples,24 points last night.Anyway,If NO,Lakers and Spurs finish with the same score who will be 1st?

I just got back form the game. Hardly a robbery. Bad calls went both ways...if you took your blinders off. ;)

Darn it..I missed out on my garlic fries...the game was getting too close and I didn't want to miss it.

Tie breakers are determined by conference, division, games won against those specific teams they are tied with, etc.

On one serbian site I just saw that Lakers will be first if NO loose just one game before the end.Of course,Lakers need to win against San Antonio tomorow.

if You took Your blinders off You would have seen the targeted foul calling on the positions where Hornets are the weakest and the foul ratio in the first half where the game was decided. lakers as usual got every call that mattered.

First lakers foul in the 4th came with 3 minutes to go. After the game all they were talking was how aggressive they were. Are You kidding me ? They got away with everything and a call on any touch foul plus the fisher flops but I don't even cout these.

I had no doubt that the lakers were going to win this game and I agree with Piksi on this one. Calling those fouls on Tyson Chandler in the first is the key , ou take him out and NO doesnt have any post presence or that lob pass or the offensive rebousing that made them good this year. Paul was fouled on many posessions from the side and behind and no foul was called during the first half. The offensive foul on paul for bumping into fisher, that can go either way, it wasnt as if fisher was totally set, he was moving.

But second half, it went NO way, refs wanted to get the game close and didnt want to have a blow out. Fisher and Farmar were bumped and fouled on the perimeter so many times in one posession and no fouls were called and thats exactly when the hornets cut the deficit. This is the time when kobe got his offensive foul after the pass and barely touching pargo, they were letting so much more bumping before the offensive foul on the same play where hornets players bumped bryant

But the place I dont agree with Piksi, it is not the nba and the refs always support only the lakers and they are there only to help them win. If that was the case they should win every game every year, they wouldnt miss playoffs and lose in first round.

I know you wear those blinders but it will be good if you see some of the other games objectively. Ofcourse you like kings and hate lakers so those wouldnt be good games to understand nba refs. Try watching two teams that you dont care too much either way ( spurs vs suns , chi vs cle , bos vs orl ) and has playoff seeding impications and you can understand. There are also the spurs vs mavs, suns vs mav games but you guys also hate mavs cos they knocked you out of playoffs during those years when lakers didnt.

Why do you think pop sat his starters in the 4th quarters against jazz and suns. There are games where phil has given extended rest to his starters and lost the game. They know better. Ofcourse the media will say that the spurs are aged and resting the starters was a good move. Really resting the starters and moving down from a 2nd seed to a lower seed to lose homecourt in second round, is that worth it. These games were within reach when he rested the starters.

But ABC wants suns vs spurs first round to continue that excitement from last year, give the suns a chance to redeem themselves. But put them on to the lakers in the next round to have shaq vs kobe in the playoffs and continue that rivalry on that side and milk it for one more year before starting the new rivalry with the eastern teams.

Excuse me when Paul can swing his elbows into a double team and miraculously get the foul in his favor and when Radmanovic gets a flagrant for doing the same thing to Chandler that was done to him.

Not trying to Chandler you here, but c'mon...it's not like you're an unbiased observer here either. Peja's your boy.

And tomorrow when Spurs plays lakers and while I hate both - I will root against - guess who ? Who is my boy there ? I also root for any other team playing lakers which includes even Mavs.

It doesn't change that refs did what they were told to do.

Hope Bowen finally does what he is supposed to do tomorrow.

;) Just for that, I'm rooting for the Kings to win tonight (stay home, Ron).

The loss dropped the Hornets (55-25) into a tie with the Los Angeles Lakers for the top spot in the West with only two games remaining. The Lakers control the tiebreaker with New Orleans based on a better conference record.
By losing back-to-back games to the Lakers and Kings, the Hornets are also in trouble in the Southwest Division. They lead San Antonio and Houston by only a half-game, meaning they could go from fighting for home-court throughout the Western Conference playoffs to opening on the road when the postseason begins next weekend.
If that does happen, New Orleans can blame a loss to the short-handed Kings. Sacramento was without leading scorer Kevin Martin (right knee) and center Brad Miller (leg and elbow injuries). But Artest returned after missing three of four games with a sprained right thumb and hit all the key shots on the way to a 22-point night.

NO is about to ruin everything,or better to say that Kings have runied everything for them:D
Jokes aside, they had a game of the season in LA,didn't win there and now it's going to be tough.I can't believe BS thought Peja can score two 3 pointers in last 15 seconds:)

Why do you hate the spurs ?

Did the refs do their job when the lakers lost to memphis. If the spurs win today did the refs do their job or would they have failed in your eyes.

What do you think of the refs job in the 25 games the lakers lost this year.

This thread is about the Hornets. The Lakers have their own thread so discussion of them - and the related responses from people with varying degrees of strong feelings for the Kings - won't permeate every thread in the NBA forum.

Granted, the discussion became somewhat connected when the two teams played, but let's get back to discussing the Hornets...

Seriously.

Any team that is leading their conference and cannot beat a non-playoff team missing two starters has to be open to some serious questioning.
