Here We Buy 2

Believe me, those of us who having being working as #FANS, now Crown Downtown are far into the red. None of us wants to make money on any of this. All we're hoping for is to break even or reduce some of the debt we've accumulated. We all donate our time and Mike is practically working a second FT job doing all this. (Yay, Mike!)

Unfortunately, trying to get the word out and have momentum isn't easy to do without money and the efforts of a lot of volunteer help. Thank you from the bottom of my purple-loving heart to VF21 and anyone else who has contributed cash to the cause. At this point we are in an intense period in efforts, because of the deadline. We have to win this deciding round by a knockout. Even a couple of dollars helps us, folks. I'll stop begging now. You know what's at risk here for Sacramento and it really is bigger than basketball.

Yet, they are giving us crazy good ticket deals and they know exactly who we are and what we want. I suppose money is money, then, and they don't think we can make a difference. All I have to say to that is, we'll show them.

Being from France I obviously can not attend the HWB2 game but, believe me, I would love to.
I would like to help filling the arena and I think I read somewhere that we can donate to give tickets to children.
Anyone could tell me how to do that ?

I am going to be attending a few games in the future, but I am almost certain this is not one of those games. However, I will state that I have been watching, and I will continue to watch, each and every Kings game, home and away for the duration of this season. It is very unfortunate that I am unable to attend a lot of these here we stay events, and the city council meetings, but let me make one thing clear, and that is I BLEED PURPLE AND BLACK ALL DAY, EVERY DAY!

Now, to the folks with Crown Downtown, I would like to thank each and every single one of you, from the absolute bottom most part of my heart, for all of the dedication, love, support, and effort you have poured out in support of the SACRAMENTO Kings. While I find myself putting on a sad face for being unable to attend the games and meetings, coming on this site and reading the comments that people post about the attendance at the games and the meetings puts a huge smile on my face, and I will forever be thankful to all of you who have poured out whatever you have in you, all the way down to that last bit, in support of the team, and the city.

I hope the BOG, when they vote, can see that this is more than just a city losing its team. That it's more than just a city getting its team back. That it's more than just breaking a bunch of hearts in order to fix a bunch of already broken hearts. I hope they can see that this is about a CITY. That this is about a COMMUNITY. And I hope they can see that the SACRAMENTO KINGS FANS ARE THE BEST DARN FANS. PERIOD.

Sitting a few rows behind the kings bench. Plan on having a nice sign for ol spence

Just a request? Remember the purpose of the evening. This is another chance to put forth a positive Kings fan image, to show that we deserve to keep our team. Just my two cents...

Agreed. For the rest of this season any "negative" signs should be directed towards none other than George Maloof. And even those should show some tact.

Thank's !

I haven't seen it yet. If I do, I'll post a link. A LOT of people are asking to donate. Tickets are disappearing fast, though.

Thank you kennadog. If I can't help by buying tickets, I'll donate to Crown Downtown.

Please believe me. Any donation/contribution you can make to CrownDowntown would be greatly appreciated and would go a long way towards helping them to continue to educate the public. They are making a very big difference and have since the beginning. Without CrownDowntown, the Sacramento City Council might never have even come around to voting for the support of a new arena. It has been the folks from CrownDowntown (formerly #FANS), led by Mike Tavares, who have shown up at council meetings with facts and figures in hand. They've been the ones who represent all of us who cannot be there in person. When the Mayor of Sacramento makes a point during a council meeting to thank Mike for all he has done, I think it shows that CrownDowntown definitely needs and deserves our continuing support.

Mike0476 (Mike), kennadog (Lynne), Warhawk (Ron), Capt. Factorial (Jeff) and others have given more of themselves than they will ever admit to. They don't blow their own horns so I'll blow if for them. Without them and the other devoted individuals of CrownDowntown, the Kings could easily already be gone. It really is that simple, even if they won't take the credit.

Make a donation to their cause and it will be put to very good use. I promise.

Thanks you Flopi and thank you VF21. If the Kings stay and the city gets a brand new, beautiful downtown arena for all kinds of events, it will be worth it. :)

Thanks VF21! Thanks Flopi for helping out!

To piggyback on that, the City Council is having a meeting Tuesday where they will take a vote to support the Kings staying in Sacramento. It would be very cool to have a mini white out at the meeting. If anyone wants to come for the fun, please come! Mike will have shirts, but please wear white just in case. It would be GREAT to see some new faces and make new friends! And KJ and the City Council truly enjoy seeing the City's support of this endeavor.

Ok, long time since my last post here on kingsfans. But I want to see the Kings play sometime in the future. So I'll be donating my contribution to Crown Downtown this week pending the transfer to my paypal account. I truly believe their actions are making a difference.

I'll make another promise right here, right now: I will be traveling (from Belgium) to Sacramento WHEN the SACRAMENTO kings play the opening game in their new arena. And I hope a lot of Kingsfans.com members will be there joining the party.

AWESOME! Would love to celebrate opening a new arena with fans from around the world!

And thanks for the donation. It will be put to good use for more t-shirts, banners, etc. to get the word out and further the cause!

I'll be there on the 24th in Sevction. 108. I may not have white on but if you look closely there still is a little very short gray hair left. I saw the first HWB game on TV and am looking forward to being there for the 76er game. Thanks, Mike and friends, great job you all do.

Question: What is the specific issue that the City Council will be voting on on Tuesday's agenda? Anyone.

My understanding is that it is basically a resolution supporting the construction of a new facility and keeping the Kings. No firm vote on a plan, but a vote reinforcing that Sacramento wants to keep the team here and help finance an arena. More like an opinion vote than a vote for a specific dollar amount or supporting a particular site, as it seems that is still being negotiated/sorted out.

Thank you for your kind words.

We should get a section or two for all of us or maybe a suite (if they are available).

I will be at the game. Couldn't make the first one but I had family there.

Once the Kings stay in Sac I will re-up on my season tickets.

I have been a season ticket holder for about 8 to 10 years in the mid 90s and early 2000s and again last year. With new life in the team I will once again support the team with $$$$.

Thank you so much, El Paliasso! It would be wonderful to have you come visit. :)

It appears there will be a issue with City liabilities as well.

This unfortunately will give the nay-Sayers an opportunity to voice IMHO uninformed opposition. The more supporters, especially new faces, the better. This is bigger than basketball and that is coming from someone in Kentucky. Do your City proud.

Tom Ziller is correct, though. If the city sells a long term lease of certain parking facilities to a third party, they won't be borrowing any money, thus not adding to the city debt. If I sell my car for $10,000, I have cash that I didn't borrow from anybody. (In the simplest explanation). There was also talk of the city getting a share of the parking revenues from the private lessee.

However, the naysayers will say we shouldn't be using public assets for the purposes of an arena. They also, argue we will lose parking revenue to the general fund. Now I know that conservative estimations of the increased revenues to the city from having the arena will replace the lost parking revenues. I'd have to go back and re-read the report, but there were projections and explanations for how the general fund would be back-filled, which obviously some of the naysayers never read.

The other thing, is that the city is keeping the idea of retaining the parking for operation by the city. My assumption is they would then sell bonds (revenue-backed) and then parking revenues would go first to make bond payments. Then, technically, the city would be adding debt, but with an identified and dedicated source of repayment. Parking revenues would likely go way up with an arena. I actually think I might like this idea better, myself.
