Hayes gone, Dalembert gone: Now What? thread

Okay, so Hayes is out; Dalembert is going to Houston to be a Rockette... now what do the Kings do?

What are the options?

Up the offer to AK47 to try to pry him out of the Motherland?
Sign some sort of stop-gap PF/C like Pryzbilla?
Wait until February and try to land Kenyon Martin?
Trade with someone looking to clear some capspace?

Where do the Kings go from here?

Same as always, see if Evans and Cousins make a decent tandem, if they don't move one in a blockbuster for somebody that can.

Yeah, but that is not a "this season" type of decision... I am talking about before the trade deadline... the Kings still are below the salary floor.

I'd guess Petrie signs an insurance big. Gadzuric, Elson - someone like that. I don't think they'd try for a trade until near the deadline. Hayes really threw a wrench into their defensive front court.

Realistically its a trade. Ak is likely NJ bound. We can absorb salary. That helps. We have variosu random pieces of dubious value. That could help too. But I don't knwo our targets. Okafor possible on the huge deal. They have Kaman now and Landry, so Okafor might be teh odd man out. Or he could make for a pretty good three big rotation. Don't know why they'd give him up for scraps. Thabeet of course maybe now in Houston. But that's a major project, not a solution. We done got aced out, be tough.

If I were GM of the Kings right now I'd be coming up with a trade package to offer Cleveland for Varejao.

Not sure what Cleveland would want from us. They are clearly rebuilding and we do not have a pick to give them. They don't have any contracts to dump, unless they want to get Varajao off the books, he is their 2nd highest paid player.

Let's bring back the Tyreke Evans for Dwight Howard talks! We have the cap space to absorb Hudo don't we?

Yeha, him too. Although he's nto a shotblocker at least he bring ssize and defense.

I think a shotblocker is not what the Kings are after anyways (see Hayes, Chuck) from their big. Geoff spoke a lot about running the offense through Chuck at the high post... they are looking for the Vlade for their CWebb.

We have roughly $10 mil nder the cap and no one but AK to spend it on. I think we are out of options. As to trades, I have long since given up trying to think of one that would work as what I want may not be what the other team wants.

It's a real face palm to think we may go into this season as the team with the lowest salary again. It is what it is, I suppose.

At least that wasn't the plan... the Kings planned on going with Chuck Hayes and a tragedy occurred... no one to blame for that... except Chuck Hayes' extremely tall, Haitan doctor, Dr. D. Salembert.

Kevin Love is better than anyone on our roster, truth be told. Ten rebounds, strong three point shooting, great passing. Now that he's lost weight he moves around like an SF...can bring the ball up the floor. He's ridiculous.

I like the idea of Okafur. I know he has limitations and is not as tall as advertised but is very strong, plays good man D, rebounds and occasionally will block some shots due to athleticism not necessarily height. Watching him play, I think he is a smart player and does not try to do things outside his skillset. Some could argue that he has regressed since entering the league but he has been through a couple different systems and has been relied upon less and less. I think he could be available for some young talent which we have, though his salary is far from desirable, i would welcome it.

But the TWolves aren't trading him... Brad Miller, however, could be had for the CapSpace if I had to guess.

What about Darko? i'm sure people will laugh but he did average 2 blocked shots a game last year! And since he's Darko and Kahn is Kahn, might be able to get him for a handshake and a smile.

But what would Stern want for him... 1st round unprotected, Cousins, and Tyreke?

Naw I'm just going to pretend that Geoff wants to trade for Dwight and Hedo. We have the cap space to outright absorb Howard's $18 million, and putting together scrubs for Hedo's $11 million shouldn't be a problem.

They might want Tyreke! We send them Tyreke and Salmons/Garcia, they send us Varajao and Tristan Thompson.

I figure Hickson isn’t returning, especially if he has a good year.

So the Kings would have a starting FC of Cousins/Thompson with Varajao as the main backup big since he can play the 4 or 5.
