hawks 2nd pick??

Sean Singletary anybody agree?

IF Jason Thompson drops to the 2nd round we might give the guy a tryout. But I think he will probably be mid/late 1st round..

I do like Singletary from what I have seen, but I only have seen him a couple times. He's a senior right? That's also a plus when you need experience. It will take less time to figure out if the guy is NBA material.

DeVon Harvin might drop to the second round. Might be someone we pickup with our pick in rd2.

i say we take a flier on a foreign player with potential and let a pro club season him overseas then bring him over like we did stojakovic a few yrs later. either that or take a domestic player that has oodles of potential :D

i still go for the first idea tho so we can allow more playing time to the players we have now. the nbdl doesn't develop like the euro clubs overseas.

I'm not against that idea in the second round. More than likely there will be some interesting prospects who we can let develop overseas, rather than take a guy that may not even make the team. Depends on the player of course, and who's on the board, but it's not a bad idea.

the reason i would like to go that route is to save roster space to develop the players we do have. it's invaluable for these players to get time to develop. we can monitor his progress without having it count against our cap. if he doesn't pan out the way we expect .. we could possibly trade him for another player or picks. i believe we paid 2 2nd rounders for darius songaila.

Yeah... unfortunately, we are now down to 3 players younger than Kevin (Hawes, Douby, SWilliams), and, barring any more changes this week, will have quite a few roster slots open at the end of the year. It might have been a good solution when we had a fuller roster and an additional young player, not so sure that it solves the problems that we face right now.

I like Shawn James as a high risk high reward guy, crazy athletic long shot blocker who has potential for a good face up game. Kind of like Eddie Griffin without the craziness.

if you had to pick either Darrell Arthur or Darren Collison?

Arthur, easy. Collison is a very good college player, but I don't think he's anything special at the NBA level; not enough athleticism and finishing ability. Arthur while has a ways to go has all the physical tools to be a near all-star PF, he needs to put it all together though. Between the middle risk/middle reward PG and the high risk/high reward PF I take the PF.

i agree! i really think collison might be like earl watson. we really need a pf! really bad.

I still believe in Petrie's good eye for scouting talents. May it be overseas or not. So even second round picks should still be good assets on this team.
