bottom line Harry needs some weight. Thats it. everything is there

Harry needs to be coming in for Bjelica and allowed to play more on the perimeter. The kid shot 2-3 from 3 last night. He’s not a banger and besides Bagley fills that space. I want to see DJ run a pick and pop for Harry once.

I was watching the G League showcase last night. Giles and Williams were very unimpressive. There were plenty of scouts in the stands. No one could hit a shot on either team. Giles really lacks intensity. He plays too much like Skal and Willie. Too passive.

The NBA is full of grown men that play fast. It is not for everyone. Not even everyone with talent. The Kings really need a 5 with some attitude.

He’s got attitude. He’s trying to get acclimated after missing major amounts of time with serious knee injuries .

Those guys play different positions. You know that......right? Have you forgotten that Joerger gave Harry a spot in the rotation early on in the season and he proceeded to foul anything and everything that moved.

Has Joerger and his staff not done enough to muster some trust in developing our young guys?

Ask Joerger. We can debate the merits of playing him when Bagley is healthy but there is nothing in the known universe that can convince me that playing Ben McLemore-Troy Williams (or JJ) small ball is a better option. Though tbf I think Joerger might have utilized him last night if he were available.

If Giles would be able to provide some interior defense, I don't think Joerger would hesitate to play him. It doesn't appear that Joerger has confidence in him though. The two (Giles and Jackson) for one (Portland picked Zach Collins) deal doesn't look all that great right now. With the Kings desperately in need of interior grit, you would think Giles would get pt if he could help just a little in that regard.

Agreed. When Marvin Bagley was playing I can see not giving any minutes to Giles but with both Bagley and Shumpert that's a whole different story. Can anybody honestly say that playing Justin Jackson or Troy Williams as the backup PF is better than Giles? It really doesn't make any sense. Once Bagley got hurt I think everybody thought ok here is a great opportunity for Giles........instead he gets even less playing time and sent down.

It wouldn't be as troubling if the Kings didn't spend the whole off season hyping the hell out of Giles as someone who was going to step right in and make a difference this year. Grant, Doug, and others mentioned him being a possible ROY candidate. What a load of nonsense and why overhype the kid so much?

Agreed. Harry needs to get stronger too. He's getting man handled in the paint and that is why he is constantly fouling on defense. He needs to get bigger and stronger.

I would like to see a De'Aaron Fox type body transformation in strength and weight from Giles during the off season next year. Giles is just not strong enough to bang with the big boys right now. I have said it since seeing him in the pre-season, but Giles looks small out there against other Power Forwards and Centers.

2 years ago he forced WCS to the high post.
Last year Fox in the half court.

Lets not forget Karl having DMC shoot 3's.

All of their games expanded, it was probably for the worse for WCS letting him think he was an offensive player.

It's Giles rookie year, coach isn't going to give him anything. Lets see what happens after the trade deadline when any moves have been made and their playoff odds are more determined.

I know we've all seen flashes and want Giles to get burn on the court, but we can actually make the playoffs this year. Development is no longer a priority. I'm sure Joerger and the FO would love it if it were possible to develop Giles AND compete, but the dude is a net negative on the court, and that's why it's not happening.

Giles just isn't ready yet. Joerger gave him time earlier in the season, and he didn't deliver. He's still too skinny, a fouling machine, a total sieve on defense, not impressive at all as a rebounder...

Y'all acting like its a make or break season for him are crazy though. Remember how psyched everyone in the Kings org. was on him over the summer? That didn't go away. It's just all about breaking that playoff drought now. As it should be.

Giles had a looooooong break from playing. He's gonna get there, it just might take another offseason of work. In the meantime, enjoy the Fox and Buddy show.

I agree. We have heard it from each other and from the players. Its time to end our postseason hiatus.

I haven't heard much from coach or the FO though about the goalposts shifting from development to winning in order to make the playoffs though and so i am still skeptical that we may very well tail off as the season goes on in favor of development.

Giles is fine in Stockton. Win now i say and integrate him when the time is ready. He is a big part of our future but this trade deadline and next few months is of greater importance to this franchise in my mind.

I watched Giles' minutes during that game last night and I thought he was half assing it for the most part. Not sure what's up with him.

How is Zach Collins looking? Once we went with a PG at 5, he was my pick at 10 before the 2 for 1 trade. I loved the guy in the NCAA tournament but don't catch any Portland games.

I'm pretty sure they're going to focus on the playoffs as long as it's in view. Why would they have to actually announce it?

Theres no need to but after being a losing franchise for over a decade I just thought they'd take every opportunity to reinforce that we have arrived and we are going for it. POST SEASON !!

I think members of the front office legitimately feel Harry is very good. I was told one prominent member thought he was the best player on the team last year. For whatever reason, and it happens, Harry and Dave seem like oil and water.

Or, Harry can't stay out of foul trouble and hasn't broken into the rotation. This isn't T-ball. Not everyone gets to play every game. Coach is trying to win and make the PO. Harry has to prove he can avoid all the fouls and help the team win games. I hope he gets lots of run in the G-League and comes back ready to roll. He needs PT, and that doesn't necessarily mean with the big boys when every game is a fight to win. He missed what, 2 years of basketball and injuries he's coming back from? He's got time. Let he coach do his thing. Overall I think he's doing a great job and he's catching a bunch of unnecessary flack. We are over 0.500 for the first time in over a decade, the team is growing, we have players developing in front of our eyes, and some folks still want to dump on the coach.

Point guard and center are the toughest adjustments in the NBA. I think that long term, it makes sense to develop Giles as a center. He just is not physically ready for the NBA yet. It reminds me a bit of the Jermain O’Neal situation. It is all about the long game. And big minutes in the G-League is what Harry needs right now.

Giles with a pretty decent game today. Small sample size, but he's shooting really well from deep in Stockton. Led the team in +/- as well.

I like the idea of him getting a lot of play in Stockton. There's no reason to hurry his process along, and much to be gained by helping him build his skills and confidence.

Harry 5-6 on 3 point attempts in Stockton and yet Joeger puts handcuffs on him to not shoot 3’s. Perhaps the problem is Joerger and how he plays Harry and not Harry. Oh and for those who say the coach has us in the playoff race so did Thibs last year and does anyone think Thibs used Bjelica well?

Why isn’t Giles used exactly like Bjelica? He can shoot and he can pump fake and drive. Not to mention harry is better passer. Just my opinion.

Not sure of the relevance.

As far as Joerger putting handcuffs on Giles, Harry is in Stockton right now to get him up to speed and hopefully diminish his tendency to attract fouls like a magnet. That's the place to find out about his strengths and weaknesses. Joerger brought Fox along slowly and it seems to have worked out quite well. I trust him to do the same with Giles.

any hint as to which prominent member?

Giles needs game experience to learn to trust his body and to acclimate to the speed of the NBA especially on the defensive end. Doing some of that in Stockton is ok.

It depends how you play Giles. If you play him defending big centers he is going to fail repeatedly. Giles needs to play stretch 4’s and be a replacement for Bjelica.

I agree about not playing him vs big centers. it is obvious he is outmatched there. But we have to see whether he has the foot speed to keep up with faster players playing the 4. He might foul even more there. Now, Bjelica is not fleet of foot either, but he has experience, savvy, and some more bulk working in his favor. On offense, Giles' outside shoot has looked nice and fluid. So I can see him knocking that 3 at a fairly good rate. But he has time, there is no need to rush anything as long as he is improving whether through practice or Stockton...

Ya'll probably don't want to hear this, but keep it in mind that Harry is playing in G league showcase games while the Kings are shorthanded.

Maybe it's nothing. I like Giles as much as the next guy, but I can't bury my head in the sand on this coincidence.
