hard to understand THIS LEVEL of negativity

i had started the negative thread after the phoenix suns game, and you're all right, the sky is not falling.

but call me just a little bit envious when a phoenix squad who also has a ton of new faces are able to play in mid-season form. they weren't holding back any punches, and i guess i was just hoping the kings would treat it the same way.

or maybe i'm also jealous that a conference rival seems to have gelled. despite a big injury to their line-up.

That's what kind of annoying to me. People say this team needs to jell and they just haven't played together but look at Phoenix??? They lost 3(including Stoudamire) of their key cogs from last year and seem to be doing fine.

The only problem I have is that the defencies the Kings SEEM to have now are the same ones everyone complained about last year and we heard all Summer about how they are going to emphasize defense and we seem to almost be worse.

I said it all summer, we aren't going to become a defensive team by talking about it. Where is our defensive stud? Couldn't we move any of our 'flexible' pieces to bring in someone who could set the tone on defense?

It's because Phoenix's style is pretty simple, and those guys can shoot threes well (Bell and Jones). James f'n Jones will have his true break-out season.

Hornets say more trades are likely to continue become a more athletic team... ;)

I've been concerend about that since long before camp started. But again, what did we expect? How can you go out and put together a team who's top 6 players are:

1 -- a slowfooted poor defensive center who provides almost no defensive presence in the lane
2 -- 2 smallish tweener PFs who are amongst the weaker defenders at their position and provide even less shotblocking presence than the center
3 -- a decent man on man defending SF who is a terrible help defender and hustle player and hence far below average overall
4 -- an OG who plays above average defense, but is certainly no lockdown stalwart
5 -- a PG who gets destroyed on penetration game after game

And then say "oh we're focused on being better defensively"? That's B.S.. We've got some good defensive benchers, but the huge bulk of the minutes are going to go to guys who are not, and have never been, good defenders. We've shown some flashes of good team defense in preseason, but us ever holding that together with this personnel for whole games, let alone an entire season seems pretty farfetched. This is flatout a front office issue. If you say you are going to focus on defense, then you go out and you get defensive players! Not rocket science. You don't see Pop trading away Bowen to get a guy who scores more.

Just two words: "Joe Kleine"

I was there back when the semi's where rollin' up to Arco "The Tin Can" Arena with the words on the outside of the trailers saying "Kansas City Kings" on them.

Them losing two games in a row in preseason is nothing, believe me!!!
