Guess the Player by Their Stats

Chubbs et al,
Player B has twice as many assists. Player B has a better 3 point shot average and is a better free throw shooter. Neither of these players is "inferior" and that is the whole point.

People are already complaining about not having the right statistics. When faced with reality, there is still resistance.

Your "reality" is not necessarily the real "reality." Nice try, though.

Or ignorance.

I am wondering why didn't you include the usage rates of each player. Raw stat numbers mean sweet **** all. There would be serious issues if IT did NOT average more assists than Gay since he is the PG and the one that handles the ball a LOT more.

I am not even sure what you are trying to prove. It's literally like comparing apples to oranges. Two different positions, two different types of players. Compare IT to the rest of the PGs and those numbers do not look all that impressive. Just as Gay's numbers would not look too impressive next to LeBron's or Durants.

For all you size prejudiced people out there, the difference between 5'9" and 6'8" is 2.3 rebounds a game.

this thread is sad....

first of all, nobody should be questioning IT's pure scoring ability. But grenade tossing threads like this lead people to over-react and retaliate, and even question THAT, which is just plain wrong. IT's offensive skills are there. He can create his own shot, and he can score in bunches. He is a real dynamo, and great fun to watch.... sometimes.

the problem is context.

IT is also at a disadvantage defending ANY player in the nba (and puts crappy effort on the D-side as well) ... and his biggest flaw *might be* that he is supposed to be the facilitator in this offense. If we had the "old" kings offense with vlade christie and webber, then IT might be able to function in teh offense as a bit of a score first gunner (but not at the rate he does so now, and we *still* have to return to the fact that IT's D is even worse than bibby's crappy D was... and by a long shot). But the fact is that the 2013-14 kings need their pg to actually run an offense.... and in spite of all his offensive abilities, IT just isn't well suited to that role.

so in the end he is a huge liability in basically all aspects on the D-side of the floor, and a player with some real pluses and some glaring minuses on the offensive side. That calculus shouldn't detract from his ofensive gifts, but does point to a problem of fit. but.....putting down some random stats and then backing up a non-thesis with a purely blind statement like "For all you size prejudiced people out there, the difference between 5'9" and 6'8" is 2.3 rebounds a game." shows some real-game ignorance.

Resistance to what?

These stats are utterly meaningless if you're not even going to compare the same time periods or list positions.

In a 7 cat fantasy league, sure, the players are similar. In real life, they play different positions and fill different needs. That stats show nothing and have no context.

Sweet mother of god. This may be the single dumbest thing I have ever read anywhere. And that's saying something because I read my own writing.

I wanna play "put arbitrary numbers together and pretend they tell me something" game too!

Let's play guess that coach:
Coach A 16-32 .333 w%
Coach B 93-170 .354 w%
Coach C 44-62 .415 w%
Coach D 108-138 .439 w%
Coach E 318-279 .533 w%

Okay. The Kings will trade down in the draft three spots to reacquire . . . Chuck Hayes.
