I'm sure everyone here is shocked from this news considering how promising his previous comeback attempts were. So that's two microfractures on his left knee, and one on his right knee. Anyone here still want to take a chance on him? Or maybe it was a stupid idea for the last two years, and it's an even more stupid idea now.

Sounds like he'll be missing most to all of next season, so there's little to no point at going after him this offseason. If he misses all of next season, that would mean he had played the equivalent of one season (82 games) in his first six years in the league. At some point, you've got to give up the dream.

Feel terrible for him. Maybe he should go see one of those Tibetan monks known to heal injuries western medicine has had less success with. Or consider the blood spinning thingy Kobe did in Germany.

At least he and his family are set for life financially.

Just another reason to be happy we didn't get the first pick that year.

Ya, you really have to feel for him. Can you imagine how heartbreaking it is for him to have had such a big future, only to have it ruined by constant injuries? Tough situation.

FWIW, I'd still throw him a two year deal at the vets minimum (that one's for you Vlade :p).

We're still talking about this guy?
Barely, someone on my facebook said they saw him at the Portland Marathon last year and he didn't even attract a crowd, 5 years ago he drew 10k+ just on his arrival. He'll always be intriguing until he officially retires. And one of the constant reminders that winning the lottery doesn't guarantee success.

Also a reminder that no matter how good, no one is guranteed a great career. Our own GP had to retire early, because of injuries. He was a co-rookie of the year. Walton's career cut short as well as Yao's. Basketball is hard on the back, knees and ankles.

Retweet from a friend:
The Blazers once prized trio of Brandon Roy, Greg Oden and LaMarcus Aldridge ended up playing 76 games together. The Blazers record: 51-25.
