Since I detest weenieism above all other things in life, I don't even feel bad about it. The harder working, tougher team with the bigger balls won it. Good. The way it should work in sports.

Boxscore

Stats: 38min 20pts (8-18, 2-6, 2-2) 5reb 0ast 0stl 1blk 0TO
Summary: had his moments offensively, but Wiggins badly outperformed him, and he did not fight ont he glass

Gay ( C ) -- started things off hitting a random 1 on 1 long straight three that had to pass for our offense as we started the game off flat as a board. Got finishes around the rim as he began accumulating points, but was getting his ass kicked by Wiggins on the other end, and along with Omri was providing next to no rebounding support as the Wolves swarmed the glass and won every hustle battle. Gave us our first lead of the game on a joke of a prayer heaved from 26ft away that went off glass, and had a tough 1 on 1 shot that is a bad shot for anybody but him to set us up regaining the lead late in the 4th. In the end though, inability to contend wiht Wiggins became the bigger story.

Stats: 35min 11pts (3-7, 3-5, 2-2) 4reb 0ast 1stl 0blk 2TO
Summary: hit his threes, but caught a bad case of the weenies on the glass and looked like a SF playing out of position against the big Wolves frontline

Casspi ( D+ ) -- Omri started off this one fumbling an interior pass from Rondo for a turnover, and his contribution to this one was largely restricted to hitting a trio of threes in the first three quarters. After one of them he got a smart steal reading an entry pass and sneaking in to steal it. But that was kind of it for defensive contributions as he joined several other Kings in stubbornly ball watching as Wolves ran the baseline behind him unimpeded, and his boardwork tonight was so bad it had a hand in us losing the game. The Wolves play big big and bigger on the frontline, Wiggins is an athletic freak, and Omri could handle neither and had all of 1 rebound through three quarters. Closed things on another downbeat note as he got beat by Wiggins at the 2 minute mark as the Wolves took the lead back,

Stats: 37min 24pts (11-25, 0-3, 2-3) 11reb 4ast 4stl 1blk 5TO
Summary: started out completely flat, and the rookie took it to him big time, but stabilized and restored order. Alone on the glass.

Cousins ( B- ) -- came out flat and was simply getting his ass kicked by Towns early as the kid was doing the message sending, not Cuz. Did get a couple of his steals up top. When he returned it was a different story though, he dialed in and stoned Towns on multiple possessions and took the ball from him. Started outrebounding him too, and took over. Dominated Gorgei too. In the final minutes of the half for the first time started the three point shot nonsense, and missed both. Started the third taking it to Towns on both ends. But began to get into with the whistles, and Towns fought back. Took a charge on towns with 8min to go in the 4th to get the rookie back on the bench, and would take another one on Wiggins in the final minutes. Not finishing in the 4th and so made the wise decision on his next drive to dish it to Koufos for the finish. An o-reb and finish in the final 3 minutes got us the lead back with a chance to win, and a good dunk delivered by Rondo on a slip screen play called from the timeout with 28 seconds to go, but not enough. Didn't get the line this time, and it made his night inefficient. On the other hand he was the only guy battling on the glass, and the welcome return of his disruptive steal and charge drawing game made a major impact for us. Not his best, but would have won this if he got a little help.

Stats: 25min 6pts (3-5, 0-1, 0-1) 1reb 1ast 2stl 0blk 1TO
Summary: did so little that I can clearly remember all his good plays. Tried him on Wiggins, and when that did not work, gave up.

McLemore ( C- ) -- early steal and open court give and go with Cousins was one of our few highlights of a fugly start. Added another transition hoop. After half not slowing Wiggins in the early 3rd, but made a nice drive +1 in response (missed the FT, and every little point mattered int eh close loss). And that was it. Along with our forwards, our guards were complete wussies on the glass, there was no physically or scrap, and they kept getting outhustled to every long board. Ben/Marco/Collison combined for 2 rebounds in 65 minutes. For their sakes I hope none of them ever get sent to prison.

Stats: 36min 11pts (4-8, 0-1, 3-4) 4reb 13ast 3stl 0blk 2TO
Summary: there were times when he controlled the game, but two big dumb erros in the last two minutes helped sink us..

Rondo ( B ) -- after we made Rubio look like a shooter early, Rajon began to control the game as the first quarter went along as perhaps the first King to truly fight back. Took a blow above the high and had to go to the lockerroom to get stitches. When he returned though was making remarkable passes again. Hit a well timed 3 in the mid third to hold us into it, but there was more bad than good down the stretch. Some of it was not his fault as Karl's nomral mindless twin-PG lineup caused us problems one more time as Rondo was simply too small to hold off Shabazz Mohammed. But there were also a pair of killer mistakes that you do not expect from the guy who is supposed to steady us in those situations at the 1:20 and 1:10 marks, the first a dumb foul on Wiggins that sent him tot he line to put us down 3 instead of down 1. Then 10 seconds later a killer offensive foul with 1:00 to go to give the ballback to the Wolves.

Bench

Stats: 18min 4pts (2-4, 0-1, 0-0) 1reb 2ast 0stl 0blk 2TO
Belinelli ( D ) -- came in the game missing little baseline pops. Began hitting in the early 2nd, but the mistakes outweighed the contributions. Held the ball for 8 seconds waiting for a pick, finally got one..and dribbled off his own foot. Repeatedly backdoored in the early 2nd. Gave us no push offensively, and defensively and on the glass our guards were disasters.

Stats: 22min 4pts (1-3, 0-0, 2-2) 4reb 0ast 0stl 0blk 0TO
Koufos ( C ) -- in early for Casspi to try to control the big frontline of the Wolves, and really it was our bench that got us back into the game in the early 2nd despite Kosta really not doing much individually. A 2nd half stint was less effective, and in the end there wasn't much to particularly praise or criticize

Stats: 27min 15pts (6-10, 2-5, 1-3) 0reb 1ast 0stl 0blk 0TO
Collison ( B- ) -- I detest guys who put score-only statlines, and 15pts 0reb 1ast in 27 minutes is Nick Young worthy. But that said, int eh first half Collison's scoring focus gave us a real push as we recovered from our sluggish start. And he had an important +1 in the early 4th to keep us withing contact. Most of the 4th went less well as he missed shot after shot, and the Wolves exploited our lack of size and hustle. But he again hit a three with 3:40 to go to get us within 1. He did nothing else at all for us, but the offense he provided felt more important than it often does.

Stats: 7min 0pts (0-1, 0-1, 0-0) 1reb 1ast 0stl 0blk 0TO
Curry ( INC ) -- got in as part of our 2nd quarter bench crew, and surpisingly at least gave us a defensive effort. Was about the extent of it though.

I can't be the only one getting frustrated with Belinelli's play. This is one of our championship vets? Also I think we can give some credit to small ball for our rebounding woes today.

Was talking with someone briefly that I guess we run a sort of mock zone, or close to a 2-3 sometimes at least with open spaces some. I'm going to have to really look for it in the next couple of games.

But I'm curious if this sort of back door disaster, and potentially related to our rotations "rebounding woes" continues.

Couple of guys crashing the boards, a pg with some court vision may be all it takes to beat us.

But I haven't looked for it yet.

I just don't understand how this team started the game. Do they want to get to the playoffs, or not? It just seems like they've given up on the season already. How can they start the game with no fire whatsoever and forcing shots like rookies?

I thought he would be better at getting open. He just doesn't get enough quality looks. I have never seen a player work harder for less. He plays like he is 35 not 29.

Then just when you think Marco will never make another play he makes 3 threes in a row vs. Rockets. But he is still shooting the lowest 2pt FG% and 3 pt FG% of his career.

I wonder if we could trade him for a defense wing? Maybe send him back to the Bulls for Tony Snell? The guy I'd like is Covington of 76ers but that would cost of us Collison.

Or we can have better ball movement and find him on the second, third, fourth pass.

Cousins has to become more consistent with his emotions and his energy level, and especially his focus. The team is a mirror image of him. When he's on point, we are on point.. and when he's off doing unnecessary things and not focused/lazy, we suck because that's how everyone behaves too. We need a leader because Cousins ain't it. He may be our best player but he can't lead worth a damn. George Karl is not a leader either because he's got a personal agenda the size of a mountain. This is why we can't be consistent. We don't have that one person to tell the team and especially Cousins to cut the bullcrap and play ball.

Those of you who are already typing that I'm a Cousins hater, please don't waste your time. I have supported him since day 1 and will continue to for many reasons, but objectively as long as he has been here, the team has behaved like this.

Why does it always have to take a loss for recognition? What happened to self reflection? What happened to criticism from the coach on the player? Year in and year out the same mistakes are made with hardly any learning occurring. Are we really that dimwitted of a team that we make simple mistakes all the time? It's painful to watch knowing the team could be so much better but yet play down to the competition. The West is open this year, but hell, ain't nobody holding the door open for you. Kick the door down and make some noise.

I also absolutely hate our offense. I don't know what it even is. Just a bunch of screens up top with Rondo finding guys or Cousins rolling to the hoop or jacking up a three. I wouldn't consider it a successful offense. And our defense? Pitiful. We also used to outrebound most teams every single night and now we are getting absolutely massacred day in and day out.

We forced to many bad shots and our wings did not box out at all. BIG KAT is going to be elite. Tough loss the Wolves are a tough match up cause athletically they got wings with quick first steps and we don't.

I really just can't wrap my head around the defensive strategy. The corner three is open ALL DAY. The guys are constantly scrambling all over the floor. If Wiggins is such a massive match-up problem that you have to double every time he touches the ball then why the hell is he in the game?

So frustrating.

Yikes! And I thought I was a pessimist!

Crappy loss and all that, but let's see if we can't bounce back before reverting to doom and gloomism.

There's being a pessimist and a realist...I tend to lean towards the realist spectrum. By the looks of it, the team is capable of stringing together a win or two at home but when they hit the road...it's back to square one.

Yep, between LaVine, Shabazz, and Wiggins, the Wolves have three wings that simply ran circles around Marco, Seth (who tried hard but appeared to have the lateral quickness of a forty-year-old overweight construction worker), and Rudy.

Kevin Martin and Tayshaun Prince look done though.

Hmm...okay. "it was close" is the best we as fans tend to cling on I suppose. What are you going to say after the next loss?
Depends on the loss. I generally assume that there should be 20-25 or so of them coming even under optimistic conditions.

And yes, the type of loss matters tremendously. We still remain a team that has rarely been outclassed this year, including tonight. We can be beaten, but there are fewer than 10 teams in the league we don't belong on the court with, and the playoffs go 16 deep.

I still call into question our defensive strategy of leaving guys open on the perimeter and just hoping that our big men make enough defensive plays inside to keep the score down but the T-Wolves have enough crappy shooters for it to not kill you. I mean, Rubio, Shabazz, and Wiggins are all shooting below .300 from beyond the arc.

If there was a team against which to try whatever Karl's defensive gameplan is against, it's the Wolves. Which isn't really an excuse.

Just as an aside - KAT didn't beat us. Wiggins did. ;)

We desperatly need some form of explosive athlete on the wing, Ben is explosive back he lacks the size to go against any SF and struggles against stronger guards. A Alonzo Gee/Solomon Hill type player that plays all out 10 mins a guy would benefit us.

soooo how about no more threads on the possibility of playoffs and the competition...mmmkay? once a loser...always a loser. Nothing to see here.

Yeah, man. We are 1.5 games from the 8th seed, coming together as a team, and we just played our 26th out of 82 games this year. Time to throw away the season.

Ball watching, no box outs, no wing defender on the roster.
The hole on the wing was obvious before the season even started, but somehow we decided to sign Acy, Dukan and Butler.
This could cost us the playoffs.

Before we blame Cousins once again, who was well under control all game and bounced back from his failed first quarter strategy to force calls on Towns, we should take a look at the kind of defense guys like Bellinelli are playing, because this is what makes this team lose and Marco is an experienced vet, so the excuse, that he is distracted by Cousins negativity is laughable.

Second time this season Wiggins has beasted on us. I don't know if he plays this well against other teams but he looks like a pretty darn good young player to me. KAT also looked very impressive. Tough loss for us - poor rebounding from our lineup but I'm not going to blame Karl as I don't see it as a "small ball" problem. Omri and Rudy have the size, they just don't have the mentality of boxing guys out and crashing the boards (in Omri's case it's more of boxing out). We had Cousins in the post more than most of what I've seen this season, which I believe is a good sign. I still think Cousins needs to rethink his strategy of looking for contact in favor of using more crafty post moves, particularly when the refs aren't giving him calls. Nonetheless, if Collison and Marco play a little better we win this game.
