So...143 points followed by 139 points -- whadya think? Most ever given up in a 2 game stretch by the Kings?

Oh, and ladies, this was a blowout, you know what that should mean...

so this time, let's make it what is becoming an annual tradition to coincide with the dance team playoffs over at nba.com: Pretty Girls, The NBA's Dancers

Nocioni ( C ) -- canned an early three, but then did not get much accomplished until he had a chance to take advanatge of the Suns "bench", just going right at and thorough Louis Admundsen. Started to have some effect as a shotblocker of all things in the third quarter, but his own shots never were falling, and on a night when your team is playing such horrendous defense that they would have needed to have 7 different guys score 20 points if they wanted to win it, 11pts on 3-11 shooting makes you something approaching an active liability.

Natasha (Bobcats) -- the girl that decided me on this particular variation of the Pretty Girl thread.

Thompson ( B+ ) -- notched his career high (23pts) in this one, but actually started it off pretty slowly, having little of his luck against the Suns in the early going after dominating their small frontline last time out. Actually had zero rebounds heading into the final minutes of the first half before coming on strong in the late 2nd quarter, getting Shaq in foul trouble with a series of aggressive drives. Defense was another question, where of course the Suns have nobody for him to guard, and he was repeatedly beat on switches with him seeming to spend half the ngith trying to guard Nash, and failing. Picked up the offense again after Shaq left in the third, and dominated little Louis Admundsen in there (an assist to brilliant coaching by Alvin Gentry who had both Robin Lopex and Stromile Swift on the bench but decided to throw his 6'8" tweener forward scrub at our young bigs instead). Stats here are padded up a bit late as we played our starters well into the 4th while the Suns ran it exclusively with their scrubs, but still a strong game before then, and he only played 30 minutes total, so its not as if he racked up huge minutes because of the garbagetime. The nightly defensive owes as well as nearly getting doubled up on the boards by Matt Barnes offset the career scoring night a bit in choosing a grade here.

Rachel (Celtics)

Hawes ( A- ) -- adventuresome first quarter, grabbed some boards hit a couple of shots, also got them blocked, turned the ball over, and saw Shaq beat him down the floor in the open court. Settled in though, and had 7 boards by the mid 2nd quarter. Lost control of Shaq in the early 3rd, although it might be more accurate to say that the Big Lardbutt woke up and decided he had to play a little in order to get the victory. Spencer was scoring back the other way however, and Shaq's little burst of activity only lasted half a quarter before he went to the bench for good with the game secured. Spencer carried on though, and a couple of ill advised threes aside as things fell apart, went on to have an efficient 11-18 shooting night. Padded the 20-10 game working late into the game against Admundsen and Robin Lopez, but still a 3rd 20-10 in the last month. Like Jason, eventually ticked the career high in scoring up a notch, and while most of the rebounding was early, he was still our only guy on the glass as we got whooped again.

Cisco ( B+ ) -- trying to do too much early, got some points, but also turned it over, picked up a T, and in general was out of control. Once tried to help Shaq up off the ground and looked like he was going to throw out his back. Was a considerable factor in the second quarter as the Suns quit playing any defense at all as they are wont to do, and we slapped 40 up on the board for their (lack of) trouble. Knocked down a series of jumpers late in the 3rd to keep us hanging distantly around. Kept on canning long jumpers against the Suns scrubs in the 4th as the lead grew and grew but Cisco remained on the floor for over 40 minutes for whatever reason. Came within a few points of his career high by the time we finally pulled him. Not terribly effective on defense (obviously) against either Hill, JRich or Barbossa.

Steph (Spurs)

Udrih ( D ) -- torched by Nash for the entire first half, and it was a bit of a relief when he got into foul trouble and had to sit out for a while. Ineffective with his own offense back the other way, and was largely invisible in the third quarter while the game was decided. Was still running around out there late for whatever reason -- the main one I can think of is that Will Solomon still hasn't made it out of he doghouse after his gunning spell after that Cavs game -- and notched up some garbagetime assists along the way.

Time to give the ladies their NBA related candy

McCants ( B- ) -- as you thought he might be with Kevin out, was the guy who picked us up offensively after entering late in the first quarter. Scored 14 points in the next 9 minutes as our major weapon before we lost him to foul trouble and was draining threes from all over. But did not keep it rolling in the second half. By the time he entered, the game was largely over, but he certainly did not help matters. Scoring dried up, no impact on defense, and athe intensity may have dipped -- threw a soft lazy crosscourt pass in the early 4th that was picked off by Barbossa for the breakaway as the Suns pushed it over 20. Still finished with an impresive 17pts in 19 minutes.
dancer_Annika_Lakers399x600.jpg

Annika (Lakers) -- and here you thought there was nothing to like about that franchise.

BJax ( C- ) -- back playing without his mask again, and with Shaq on the floor too. Not much statistically, but did a better job on Nash defensively than Beno (toughie, I know). Canned a three late in the second quarter to briefly put the pressure on the Suns, and hit a two at the buzzer of the 3rd quarter, but somehow was mysteriosuly pissed about it and barked at the ref until they finally gave him a technical between quarters. If they ever make another grumpy old men movie, I have a candidate to be the star.
lamescia-0809-silv_on_bl-360.jpg

La Mescia (Grizzlies) -- alliteration aside, who was it who had the bright idea of calling them the "Grizz Girls"? Chose La Mescia because thought she would appeal to a number of constituencies, including the I should slap my mom silly for giving me that name constituency, the professional wrestling constituency (bio says she used to be one/a "valet"), and the I-like-girls-who-could-kick-my-*** constituency.

Booth ( INC ) -- the epic battle between Boothman and Superman was rejoined in the first half, with Boothman once again foiling his rotund foe with the powerful and innovative Hack a Shaq maneuver. That was it however -- because there was no way Natt would dare to disgrace the holy Booth with garbage minutes, and Simmons and Diogu got the late minutes instead.
dancer_Erika_Sixers452x600.jpg

Erika (Sixers) -- another Erika -- the name is rising in my estimation every pick here.

Greene ( D ) -- little early, and gunned up a selfish three after finally getting back in in the 4th. There was nothing good in what he did out there.
dancer_Tessa_Pacers409x600.jpg

Tessa (Pacers)

Diogu ( INC ) -- Ike Diogu got to play! Ike Diogu got to play! Well kinda. For 4 minutes of garbagetime. had a clueless miscommunication with Beno leading to a turnover, and so bad was the blowout that Beno did not even bother to blame him and just kind of shrugged.
dancer_Natalie_Rockets400x600.jpg

Natalie (Rockets)

Simmons ( INC ) -- of course it was only 4 minutes of garbagetime, but Cedric did not look good even with that. Awkward of offense, hit 1 of 2 FTs, and slow to react on the glass as Robin Lopez ran right around him for boards.
hpg0809__dancers_luanna_081030_pic7.jpg

Luanna (Heat) -- and then of course one from the Miami Bikini Te...I mean dance team. Was trying not to have more than one lady from each squad specifically to avoid this just being the Miami team's thread.

Spencer Hawes was the player of the game! New career high in pts (22) and tack on 10 boards to get a double double?

It blows me away that Spencer's career high is only 22. The dude has every offensive move in basketball, you'd think he would have at some point gone for 30+. Well, he's still young, and in the future I'd expect him to be a primary scoring threat for us.

Well, he's still coming into his own a bit and he hasn't exactly been our first scoring option during the 2 years he's been here.

I think he hit his previous career high (20 pts) 4 times before he got to 22 pts tonite. I'm not sure which games he went for 20, but I know at least 2 of them came after we traded Brad away and he started getting some significant minutes.

Don't worry, I'm confident he will put up 30+ multiple times next year.

From what I gather when Hawes is taking a lot of shots he's well.. doing the whole big man on the outside gig. And when he's scoring in the post like he should be we of course decide not to throw him the ball, hence his rather low career pt high

Better get some girls with meat on their bones Brick. I mean small is okay, but you need at least one that looks like she can play rough;)

A theme about dancer/cheerleaders isn't a very likely place to go chubby chasing ryan. ;)

WHOA!!
Wow. Look, I know what I like. I'm not looking for humpty dumpty, I just like a coke bottle figure.

I won't get all mad though, and I'll leave you alone :)

I don't see what's wrong with this theme - it is NBA related, after all. Last I checked, this IS an NBA forum. Full speed ahead, good sir. :D
