The idea is that this team that went 2-8 before Martin came back, is of energy, excitement and being the underdog. Don't want to blame one player in how we are doing, because it is a collective team game. Remember, JT has had the worst mental slump through these games, Omri has lost his shooting touch on the outside, and Beno is now in a slump. Kevin might have added fuel to the fire on which he disrupted the team flow, but to be able to be trade bait, we have to show him off...All be it, playing crappy that he is now.

but they lost... somebody had to go for the east... and didnt they only win 1 game? how is it that we get blown out by the magic but go to double OT with the defending champs?

dude we suck...

Wow, such insight.

Dude, the suckitude has nothing whatsoever to do with the topic at hand. We were talking about the decline in competitiveness since about the time Martin returned to the lineup.

A hard-fought game can be more exciting than a boring win, IMHO. What we were seeing earlier in the season was what started getting Kings fans back into Arco.

You may not agree, but that doesn't come as any surprise.

a hard fought game, even if its a loss is always fun to watch, but when was the last time we had one of those? choking in a close game doesnt count....

I have a feeling that Petrie is going to hold out for a deal for Martin to his liking. If he doesn't get what he wants then he'll just keep Martin until something good comes along, even if it means we keep losing this season and he ends up trading Martin in the offseason. Keeping Martin and losing badly for the rest of this season isn't such a bad thing if we could net another high lottery pick this year. Petrie isn't going to just give away Martin.

Hawes really took a beating by NASH on the boards tonight.... im glad Nash didn't hurt poor soggy waffles

nash 8 rebounds

7 foot tall HAWES AKS SOGGY WAFFLES 3

Oh, believe me, there's a lot I - and the other moderators - have not said. You've been given more chances than pretty much any other member of this forum that I can remember, and you still insist on being a royal pain in the arse.

It should be abundantly clear to everyone - even you - that your present course is heading you towards an inevitable conclusion. Continue to joke about it all you like.

To quote Bricklayer, "tick tock..."

Getting back to the actual grades, Donte played at PF was competitive with Amare, everyone else was badly outplayed by their counterpart

I was fascinated on two fronts:

1. That Donte seemed comfortable at the 4, and...

2. That Amare looked frustrated and outplayed much of the time.

All things considered, I'm becoming less and less impressed with Amare and more and more impressed that we were able to get Donte Greeene.

:)

This team is looking more and more like a collection of semi good players that do not mesh. Tyreke is a good player, may become a great player, but who else on this team is destined for greatness. I have often said that I thought Petrie was a great GM, but the more I look at the players he has drafted, the more I see that they all are lacking something vital to compete and be successful in the league. I sure hope things turn around soon, because watching games like this one is a real bummer.

There is NO excitement in this lineup. No player that stands out and gives you hope that this team can turn things around. Petrie needs to make a trade to shake this roster up and really get things going because this team is committing the ultimate pro basketball sin. They are MEDIOCRE! and Mediocrity is not worth paying to see. Mediocre will not bring more fans to the arena. It just isn't good basketball to watch. It is getting harder and harder to get excited to watch them on TV! I hope that Petrie has a plan.

I know these players are young, but youth should be exciting! I have not seen any excitement in these players since the first month of the season. Everyone just gets a C for this game except maybe Martin who gets another F.Martin seems to be trying to play himself off of this team. HE IS THE PLAYER WHO IS COASTING THAT WESTPHAL SPOKE OF. Nocconi is also a coaster. Tonight, we saw a team that really just got outclassed in the first quarter, and then just kinda went through the motions the rest of the game. It never looked like the Kings were in the game. It was boring to watch...

Good point, FastRman, about the "coasting". Missed the PW post game presser, but K-mart and Noce are two players who are seem to be on coast mode much of the time. Spencer falls into this category at times too. The hustle of Omri and Donte stands out a team that does not play hard enough to compensate for being out-talented most nights. Tonight was no exception, and the game was boring long before it had any need to be with the run-n-gun Suns as opponent.

That too is a load of horse manure.

We LED the Orlando Magic, Finals team last year, going into the 4th quarter a real fun game. We were in position to win. Crowd was going wild. Then we collapsed in the 4th.

Has absolutely nothing to do with this current group or the somnalent crowd sitting up there watching half the team sleepwalk through the game.

i dont see why? you are basically saying we played 3 good quarters. aside from this game, didnt we play 3 good quarters against the last 3 or 4 teams? utah and charlotte we played well the 1,2 and 4th quarter. denver we were winning after 3 quarters (the 2nd best team in the west last year and this year without evans) and spurs we played well for basically 3 &1/2 quarters. thats the same thing to me as playing competative for 3 quarters against the magic. and these teams are all .500

:)

i was really excited about landing Greene from the Rockets.... I had the impression that Petrie really liked him... but at the time Greene was ranked to low for our pick...

i was really worried that greene wouldn't have the right mind set to be a great player... but there was never a question he was enormously gifted and had that ability to be special....

hes gonna be really good... i think he's making Martin more expendable than Evans ever did...

eh I don't think Amare was bothered by Donte much at all

He was dunking away at will.

It's been a good week for old PGs.

Actually most of his points and the third quarter dunk fest came versus the Huskies Hawes and Brockman

Just read your signature and you will answer your own question. I am surprised the mods have given you sooooooo much leeway.

The Kings were competitive at the very beginning of the season (or they appeared to be) because their opponents hadn't figured their style of play. Now that the Kings have been scouted they are easy to figure out (the bigs are too soft, porous defense, just double down on Reke, etc., etc. The team has been playing for the last month and a half at the level they played at all of last season even with a new head coach and assistants with new ideas and visions. If Reke wasn't on the team the Kings would be New Jersey west and would only have 8 to 10 wins at this juncture. The only player I'd keep on the team is Tyreke and maybe Donte and build around them. The rest have to go. I hope Petrie is carefully creating trade scenarios because this current set up is just not working. The other teams are improving/rebuilding faster than us. Boy, this is frustrating.

The one I was watching had the suns announcers. That Eddie Johnson is one annoying piece of ****. I hate it when announcers are haters, just because the other team playing isn't your home team doesn't mean you need to act like you're the smartest basketball god in the universe where the Phoenix Suns or the Utah Jazz or the New Orleans Hornets have all star players as 12th mans. Like seriously, these idiots just have nothing good to say about the other team or their efforts. No you idiot, a line up of John Wall and Evans with Martin off the bench is not going to work. No you idiot, it is not stupid to trade Kevin Martin because he gives us 25points a night. Oh wait, did he even give us 25 tonight? Idiot.

Sorry for the outburst I just can't stand such announcers.

Ouch! You don't fool around. Can't we at least keep Omri?

You wouldn't keep Omri? Everyone is fustrated, but it's not worth wasting your time thinking about trading the other 10 guys. Won't happen. I disagree in that I think we have some very good young talent, but also some gaping holes. But Tyreke, Donte, Omri, Spencer, Brockman and JT are all guys who will be good nba players, a couple of them great players. We have enough pieces in Kev, Kt's expring, Noc, and maybe Cisco where we don't HAVE to trade our young talent. We also have a high draft pick coming.

We need help down low, and we have to figure out this Kevin sitaution. JT and Spencer need help, and time to develop. I won't give up on them. Add a Dalembert/Okafor type, and a top 10 big in the draft to this frontline and it helps them both big time.

Your poll should have included
Beno-Evans-Casspi-Thompson-Hawes
Evans-Garcia-Casspi-Thompson-Hawes

Those above lineups would work best imo.

I know we're all fustrated, but thats bull****. He has added a lot of young talent to this team. You have to wait until the trade deadline and this upcoming offseason to see what moves Petire will make.

Just because you would like it to, doesn't mean this roster will change overnight.

Young talent that's taking us back to the glory days in the 90s? I got a taste of winning and if Petrie can't take us to the playoffs with 5 years to work then he needs to be fired.

So, techincally only saw about 1/4 of the game and maybe things changed (and now am starting to feel the affects of a night with friends so this post might not make sense when I wake up later on, but I can't sleep so I am here, but I digress) but its getting to the part of the season where watching makes you cringe. It is very disheartening to see the team so out hustled and play with so much lacking. Even when the majority of the bench was in-the guys who should be hustling and normally provide some sort of spark, it just sucks to see players come around a poke the basketball out of our players hand after a rebound. What's causing this, I don't know I don't even think anyone associated with the team knows for sure, all I know is it just plain sucks.

I am so ready for the all-star break.

We need talent. Simple as that. Only one player on this team can get his shot off. And we know who that is. Our center is soft. Our Powerforward is amputated at the elbows and head. And everyone else is consistent at being inconsistent.

What else do people expect? We need more talent and we need more cohesion with that talent. Hopefully we can pick up the low post scorer (cousins) in the draft. And the low post defender via trade in the off season.

And hopefully withy some experience Dante can learn to be more consistent. After that we are on our way.
