JT, Thornton, and Dwill are all capable scorers, they just need someone to create.
IT is very capable of creating for others. But when you instead take that many shots (and not hit them), it's easy to point the finger.

That ship has sailed. Wall signed a long contract. He's in the same boat as Cuz, trying to recruit more talent for his team.

It might start getting interesting between Ray and Jimmer if Ray starts to show either in practice or games he deserves time. Jimmer has been playing decent for himself but probably won't be re-signed and we should be in cultivating the future mode ahead of win-now

@bylars well it’s obvious on tape that the complaints are dumb. So grab some tape and have an informed discussion, that’s all I ask.

Addendum, this week in "Aaron Bruski and Jerry Reynolds may be the same person:"

That is very similar to the response he gave me when i said something to him about Isaiah getting burned on Defense when he was trying to blame JT and DMC for every point Isaiah's man scored. He told me to look at the tape and then blocked me. smh

Look, IT is what he is, and at what he is he may be one of the best in the league at (6th man Bobby Jackson type), but what he's been used at right now is not what he is and I think that's what the frustration comes from.

Thought I would jump on the bandwagon. There was a play in the second half where JT cut from the left baseline to right under the right side of the basket, momentarily unguarded. He got there just as IT was coming around the top of the key. IT looked right at JT, and then reversed direction and went back toward the left side of the court, drove into the key, and then reversed again back toward the top of the arc and then toward the left corner. Then, well defended, and with only 5 seconds left on the shot clock, he passed the ball to Thornton, who was also well defended, but took a tough shot from beyond the arc with the clock running down, and missed. This is a typical IT sequence that happens far too often. The key's to the car need to be taken away.

Every post game analysis is now about IT. This directs the conversation away from our most glaring need. Our #2 guards are non-existent and have been all year. They offer little to nothing offensively and defensively. We basically play 4 on 5 everynight. Perhaps IT scores and shoots a lot because he has no support in the back court. Is there are team in the league that has poorer SGs than us?

This is accurate.

And that frustration, or whatever it is results in so many irrational comments towards Thomas. I guess I should stop caring. Let people vent, stop trying to defend the guy who gets beaten down in every game thread while some of the fringe NBA players on this roster skate by. Oh well. Grant and Jerry certainly add fuel to the fire.

He is best served as a 6th man. But you know what else? JT is best served as a 3rd or 4th big. MT and McLemore are best served out of the rotation. Same goes for half of the rest of the roster. We have a lot of players being forced into positions where they aren't at their personal best. A lot of guys trying to do to much. A lot of guys being asked to do to much. I'd put Thomas on the top of the list of guys 'being asked to do to much' , especially when Malone is playing him 40 minutes every night.

And the 'should be 6th man' Isaiah Thomas is still a better starter than a lot of the point guards in the NBA. I'm all for replacing him, but it's on PDA to go get someone worth replacing him for. Same goes for JT. We've been trying to replace him for years and we keep failing.

I'd take a interior defender / rim protector on this roster before I replace Thomas. That should still be priority #1, and if you give me a roster of Cousins/Rim protector/Gay/competent SG/Thomas .. that team is pretty good.

IT's problems have more to do with his attitude, lack of trust in teammates, desire to improve scoring stats probably to get a contract, etc. while other people's problems have to do with lack of ability or lack of experience. IT's problems are above the neck. IT has the ability to be a better pg but focuses his energy on shooting and dribbling.

I wonder how many people defending IT criticized Tyreke last year.

Every set of stats I looked at showed IT taking 15.3 shots per game. Last night was 26.

I think he is disruptive to the entire team on offense and defense. Makes no difference how many points he scores. Or maybe all of us who are critical of IT are wrong. Seems unlikely but it depends on how much respect his defenders have for their fellow fan's opinions.

IT had a brief period at the beginning of the year when I thought he was on the right track. Even then I thought it was a waste of his talent. That was not his fault. What he is doing now is his fault. If the new team culture touted by the FO has anything to do with defense and team work, IT shouldn't be on this team whether it is as a starter or on the bench. He has tossed away his team oriented attitude that seemed apparent earlier in the season.

He never passes, like never. There is no way to know if anybody is any good until he is willing to move the ball around. You can't say that the other players on the team don't give him support when he is taking 26 shots in a game.

You are right, post game comments too often go one way and today, non players like Aaron Brushface, whoever he is, and Jerry Reynolds, are featured. Nothing to do with the uniqueness of the game. Did Gay play? Was he hot in the first half and cold in the second? Was this the first time McCallum played in both halves? Did he show signs of being a real defender? Did he pass the ball to teammates in a different way than ........ the other two PGs? Did the team defend better than usual? Did their all-time all-star miss two out of two free throws in the lst seconds? Would that have iced the game for SA? We did mention that IT should be summarily hanged.

Regarding the poll, somehow, you forgot $8 - $9 million. That's what I'd vote for.

The idiocy of this board on IT is now gone pathologically viral. I hope it's not contagious. Given its poisonous mendacity, it could have a greater mortality rate than the flu. IT could easily have had 12+ assists in this game if he played with guys who could hit open shots or who could finish underneath. But the "virus" produces cataract-like filament over the cornea and this fact goes as unnoticed as white in a snow storm. As far as IT's shooting efficiency, those who are virus-free and have retained the cranial capacity to connect two dots, know that his efficiency started going down when his minutes went dramatically upward in mid-January. He hasn't been missing short for several games due to an ailment of the phallanges. Unfortunately, Malone has about as much faith in the backup point guards as an atheist in the hereafter, leaving IT to shoulder many more minutes than he should be playing.

I think McCallum showed enough potential to be the backup pg and if he improves, because of his defense and team oriened leadership and lack of need to shoot, shoot, shoot, could easily replace IT as a starter. Ray needs experience and then let's see how it all shakes out.

On the flip side of the coin, I wonder how many people criticizing IT for his inability to create easy shots for his teammates defended Tyreke on the same deficiencies.

McCallum is a player who has played like 10 non garbage minutes the entire year. Where are you seeing he has the potential to replace IT?

Did you like Tyreke? Is it possible you are wrong about IT? I don't consider myself an idiot, BTW. I am open to a reasoned argument. I don't consider a note that mentions viruses to be very significant is a discussion. Sorry. Your personal attacks of those who disagree with you STILL don't mean you are correct.

I think he played well last night. The team caught and passes the Spurs in the first half with Ray on the court unless my memory fails me. I don't know if he could replace IT. How could I know that? I want to see him given a chance. Perhaps my note was too complex.

It certainly wasn't complex. Just mis-stated.

Take my note and correct it.

I'm a big McCallum guy. I thought he looked pretty good a few games ago when Thomas left at halftime with the stomach thing, and I thought he looked good again tonight.

Not ready to start him, though.

I'd like to see him get backup PG minutes going forward, and if we are be honest about our SG position Jimmer has been the best one this season. That's not a good thing.

He never passes, like never. There is no way to know if anybody is any good until he is willing to move the ball around. You can't say that the other players on the team don't give him support when he is taking 26 shots in a game.

He does pass. He gets about 6.5 assists per game. This is similar to Parker, Conely and Irving - PG's that people covet. On the other hand, look at the shooting percentages of our SGs. Just to warn you, you will need to scroll down for awhile. Why would IT look for guys who shoot 30%? How many assists would IT be getting if we had SGs who could shoot at an even an average %? It is hard to be a SG in this league when you can't shoot.

I would trade IT straight up for patty mills. Shoots better % all the way around. Give him IT's 15-20 shots per game and he is doing same as IT.

those fringe players that skate by without insult aren't trying to take over the game and taking shots away from players like Rudy Gay. JT is not shooting 15-20 times a game from a position that is supposed to facilitate.

team oriented leadership????
could easily replace IT as a starter?????

All this stems from his 53 minutes played the entire year? Most of which comes from garbage minutes by the way.
