The team grade is A.

They would have had every reason in the world to come out and not play with heart, but - perhaps in tribute to Doug - they did exactly the opposite. They played tough, even without Webber. They did what they needed to do to get the job done. They played TEAM ball, which had to be tough with House on the court for the first time and no steadying DC presence to keep things flowing.

This is a TEAM, my fellow Kings fans, and they showed it tonight.

I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!
I would have to agree with the team getting an A. In my mind this has been the biggest win of the season for the team. They could have easily crumbled tonight and blamed it on not having DC and Webb. I also think this is a big win for Kings Fans. I know that many of us have a feeling of uncertainty with the changing of our Core team. Our Bench stepped it up and proved that even with changes we have a team that can produce.

I would also agree with giving RA an A- for the night. He went into his bench and he had confidence in them. He did a good job of seeing the missmatches and switched to a zone defense which for the most part was very affective. My only concern is that RA will forget about the efforts provided by the bench and not go to them as much as he could in the future.

This morning I am a very proud Kings fans!!!!

Soft as butter in the tropics my friend. :) But a great talent, no doubt. And that is the eternal quandry with him. Too skilled to give up on, but does absolutely none of the dirty work and has none of the versatility of the great ones.

I disagree to a point. He plays solid defense in the post and on the perimeter. Maybe thats not what you meant by dirty work. He does not rebound the ball very at all I will give you that, and he does have a knack for fading away when he has a guy half his size on him (that annoys the heck out of me), but I do think he does more than just score. All that said you could defeintely make the point that he's soft.

Sometimes it seems to me that the closer he gets to the basket the less effective he becomes.

There's a basic flaw in that premise. Elite athletes maintain their ability to play at an elite level by playing at an elite level. In other words, if Webber is only used in critical cases, there is no guarantee he'll be able to perform in critical cases. You don't keep a race horse in the barn all year and expect him to come out and win the Kentucky Derby.

It's as simple as "use it or lose it" and we see it all the time. Webber will, most likely, take a game off here and there the rest of his career. I'm perfectly happy with that. When he plays, he has to PLAY.

There is absolutely no flaw in my logic. That fact is that Chris Webber has been seriously injured for years. History has demonstrated that he does not hold-up under sustained, heavy, physical exertion and abuse. He will have to sit on the bench at critical periods this year if he is allowed, or asked, to play extended minutes on a routine basis. He simply can't take the stress.

Kings management undoubtedly knows this. I believe that Rick Adelman will back-off on his heavy use of Webber for the remainder of the year. Adelman will save him for when his services are absolutely essential (ie. San Antonio, Dallas, etc.) Look for an unrestrained run-and-gun offense for the duration of the year.

I was watching it on Nuggets broadcast and I think at one point they said the crowd seemed to be in a bad mood.

I was at the game last night, and I'd have to agree that the crowd was in a bad mood....

right until Mike threw that half court alley-oop to Mo Evans.

It quieted down again when Mike turned his ankle (I think we were all just waiting to breathe) but other than that, it was pretty rockin' last night.

Could just be that I was up in the cheap seats this time.

That officiating(it was bad for both sides) was enough to put anyone in a bad mood.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet....

At some point, Peja is going to have to realize that when his shot isn't falling, he needs to stop shooting. No one should be taking 24 shots and only producing 27 pts. All he is doing is bringing down the rest of the team and more importantly the offense! Rick needs to tell him something or bench him!!! .....
