10!

As I of course stay up nights worrying about whether I am being fair to both sexes in these threads, I thought after the hottes...er...most talented cheer...er...dance team member thread, it was only fair for me to make tonight's theme: Really Um...Shapely Male Dance Team Members

(and of course given the opponents tongiht I immediately thought of the Mavs Maniacs, but after reviewing their pics, decided they were just not...er...exceptional enough. That goes to these boys from Chicago:

Artest ( B+ ) -- I'm getting a little tired of Ron's act now -- he insists on playing with pride long after that is directly counterproductive for our team. And so tonight he was again our best player, hammered the ball inside on one end, came up big on the glass, knocked down almost every open jumper he got. Was a real pain for the Mavs just as he was for the Lakers. But you will notice that all of that, a 25pt 10reb effort, is still only adding up to a B+ this time out. And the problem was a) defense. Yes defense, from Ron Artest. Where for whatever reason Josh Howard, a nice player but no superstar, seems to cause Ron fits. Seems like his game, size, etc. etc. should be perfect for Ron to just smother. But hasn't worked that way this year, and Josh again lit Ron up tonight, and neutralized his 25 and 10 with 29 and 8 of his own, including 14 in the first quarter just going right around and over Ron at will. And b) down the stretch Ron hasd some misadventures. Not awful selfish misadventures, but he missed a pair of FTs at the 2:45 mark which hurt. Came right back to hit the three, but then next time down the floor tried to post up 6'11" 270lb Erick Dampier? Got blocked again the next possession by Dampier (also was blocked back to back by Diop earlier in the game -- but do not fear, shotblocking is overrated, so says the chuckling silver haired seer who sits next to Grant). And then finally, c) Stack hit the big big back breaking shot at the 20 second mark right over Ron. Note that Ron did nothing wrong on the play, and it was just a great, tough shot by Stack. But it was still the game sealer, and it just capped a long night for Ron on the end of the floor he normally dominates.

MIKE O. -- HOT! I almost feel like I've cheated the guys now, because the women always get so see so much more flesh in these threads I do for them.

Reef ( B ) -- pretty good start to this one, and was scoring inside and out. Put up weak numbers on the glass once again, but was battling in there better than he is sometimes wont. Got in some foul trouble with limited his minutes somewhat, but it was mostly our genius coach's decision that smallball = good that caused Reef to eventually be forgotten about as we tried to match the Mavs smallness without Dirk rather than make them match our relative bigness (and it is all relative).

ALBERT -- and its just disappointing I did not find this one for that St. Patty's day theme. Oh well, here he is now in all his glory ladies!

Miller ( C ) -- had kind of a mystery game for me, or at least a game where I think we have definitive proof that the official scorer had one or more illegal substances in his bloodstream tonight. Got credited with SEVEN assists in this one, which led the game. Problem is that I do not remember more than 2 or 3 of them (including a very nice give and go with Ron in the mid 4th). The other problem being of course that you will notice I spent the first 3 lines of this blurb discussing his assists, or possible lack thereof. There is a reason for that. That reason being that he netted all of 6pts and 5rebs in 39 minutes of action tonight, against a team that was smallballing. Can say that Dampier in particular never hurt him down low. Can also say that he did nothing back the other way as the Mavs were the first team to really figure out Brad's game a couple of years back -- they guard him with a guard or SF, which normally renders him almost completely ineffective, unable to free himself for jumpers, or beat the player off the dribble. And of course having no post game. So how to figure a grade where the numbers say maybe you weren't paying close enough attention? Went with the half tick lower (my initial instinct) but hinging it on Brad missing a FT late. How's that for ticky tack? But if it makes you feel better, grabbing 5 rebounds against a team starting Devon George at PF is inexcusable. Grabbing 4 fewer than your 113lb OG is just embarrassing.

ME...er....I mean ADAM -- kind of makes you wish you could be a woman, no fellas?

Martin ( C+ ) -- realy at no point tonight had "it" offensively, but still found ways to score in the first half. Namely of course one of those oh so thrilling FT fests with something like 10 before the break. But the whistles weren't so kind after half, and Kevin just largely quit scoring altogether. Note here the quickness of Devon Harris and the Dallas backcourt. Even if you get a step you never get very free of them. Think he got his first points of the second half in the mid 4th, and all of his second half points were pretty much easy ones on the fast break. Didn't look bad physically -- was at his quickest -- just uncomfortable with his shot from basically anywhere. Did the more than just a scorer thing though, and found ways to contribute even without shooting. Got to the line, as mentioned, and it was our OG joining our SF to help keep us close in the rebounding race. Certainly not one to write home about, but not awful.

KIRBY -- betcha this guy does a mean mixing bowl...

Bibby ( C+ ) -- worked his way into a decent first half, scoringwise at least. Mix of fugly drives and a three pointer. But worked would be the key word and he was really having to scrap hard to get his points -- there was none of the Phoenix "let's let the guy who's hit 7 threes have another open one" style of defense. Was really smothered in the second half, and only came up with one or two hoops. And yet despite the quiet night and one dimensional numbers (1reb 3ast), there was some scrap and hustle to this effort. Mike hit the floor several times, came up with a block, and in general seemed to be battling. Of course "battling" is much better if you are actually winning the battle. When you lose and your opposite number drops 27 5 and 5 on you ont he other hand, all it does is get you half a grade for effort.

Oh...oops....those are players!

Salmons ( D+ ) -- you know, as an overall effort you would not say that this was a terrible game for John. Came up with some steals, finsihed on the break, a little of this a little of that. But unfortunately one aspect of his game overwhelmed all the others in this one, as John just continues to struggle with his outside shot. At one point missing 3 straight 3pters from almost the same spot on the floor in a critical late stretch. One of them may even have been drawn up by Muss -- and here nobody thinks Muss knows how to tank. John finally threw in a completely meaningless three in the final seconds...and ironically from yet again the same spot where he'd missed all the important ones. Also threw in a wonderful and completely unforced 8 second violation in the 4th quarter. Gotta love that kind of headiness.

MIKE S. -- I know I know, I apologize ladies, but I just could not find a full body shot of this hottie anywhere. I'll keep looking.

Thomas ( B+ ) -- hold onto your emu feather sombrerors ladies and gents -- Kenny Thomas had himself a game! And then apparently, according to a thread on this board, was immediately declared out for the rest of the season. Good idea. Let him go out on a high note that will have his name being sung in the halls of Kings fans everywhere for decades to come. Er...oh, ok...wasn't quite THAT good. But he didn't completely suck, and that's got to count for something at this point, right? Actaully more than just not sucking, Kenny played an important role tonight for us as our only big to get on the glass. And in the first half not only came up with boards, but was also able to move toward the rim in the face of surprisingly porous interior defense by the Mavs. Followed that with an effective 2nd half stint, where atrociously ugly FT stroke aside (looks like what your 6 yr old would come up with after reading FT Shooting for dummies), he was able to battle and come up with his first impact board game in a while against a small Mavs team (he was matched against Deveon George). That matchup educates this grade, but does not seriously detract from it, as Kenny pretty much did what you should do against smallball weenies -- beat them up inside. Lord knows its been done to us enough this season (Lord knows, but apparently Muss's stat machine has missed it somehow).

VITO -- how can you resist the charming, boyish playfulness ladies?

Cisco ( C- ) -- not much of an outing this time for Cisco, on either end of the court. Missed a three, had his shot altered on another occasion, and generally did not help on offense. Was part of our parade of defenders unable to slow down the Howard/Stackhouse/Terry express on the other. Couple of drab games in a row for him now.

CORIE -- a picture that one day this guy will wish he did not pose for, so makes it here automatically. But gee gals, ain't he cute?

Price ( C+ ) -- made an early appearnce, getting in in the first quarter and getting a nice long stint. Appears to have either lost some confidence in his outside shot, or been told not to take it, but had a couple of good drives inside. Did not return until the final seconds of the game to miss a shot on the drive.

MIKE O. PART II -- ok, ok, I know I used this guy before. But one look is just not enough at this specimen. I'll be taking bids on which of you lucky ladies wants to be Mike's body painter for his next appearance. Maybe I can auction him off by the foot. Or yard.

Muss ( ) -- is anybody interested? Really? What's that damn chirping I hear? Here's the onyl question remaining. We're 30-43, 13 games under .500, with 9 to play. Muss's previous two seasons his teams went 37-45 and 38-44. So if he wins out he gets to set a new career "high". If he loses 3 more, its a low even by his standards. But he should cry in his beer too much -- for never coahcing a winner or playoff team he is now proabablyt worht somewhere int eh range of $5-$10 million dollars.

SONJA -- oh...oops? Did I accidentally include one of the Bulls lady dancers instead (the Luvabulls BTW -- cute)? Oh, so sorry. Really (and here my dastardly plan becomes apparent -- bombard the ladies with fat guys until they themselves are actually looking forward to the pretty girl threads. :p MUHAHAHAHAHA!!

GoGoGadget (A+) -- Hrm... 38-1. The streak has technically ended. HOWEVER, since the team is now in a place where lins are far more valuable than wosses, I still reserve the right to call myself The Unofficial Official Good Luck Charm of the Sacramento Kings.

I very, VERY seldom disagree with any of your grades enough to point it out, but tonight just didn't feel like a B+ from Ron. Can't necessarily think of a more appropriate grade, and agree that he was tonight's best King, but... there was a disconnect there. Watching him in person, he didn't seem to have his head in the game 100%.

Of course, this could all be leftover frustration from his role in that eight second violation nonsense.

Ron Artest is the best player on the Kings roster, more so than Kevin Martin, and more so than Michael Bibby. Hopefully we can get a good big man in the draft like Hibbert, so that we can move Brad to the 4 where he is more effective, and plays SO much better when he doesnt have to be the ONLY big guy in the lineup. I'd like a lineup with a Hibbert, Miller, Artest, Martin and Bibby. Just my 2 cents...but my point being that Ron is our best player, all around, and even through the off court stuff going on, Ron continues to let it all hang out ON the court and do it with maturity that everyone else in the world(media) seems to ignore. Ron is not a detriment to this team ON the court.

Didn't think it was remotely possible, but this thread made me consider the fact that temporary blindness could actually be a positive. :p

Am I the only one that wonders why Cisco doesn't ever get extended minutes? Look at his stats--every game that he plays 30 minutes he puts up very good numbers, and maybe more importantly, his energy and enthusiasm are contagious, which over the last month, might have been helpful. Sure, it was a close game with the Mavs, but they didn't have Dirk, and it still ended up as an "L". Hey Muss--how about trying something different?!?!

I think am going to be sick. It should be against the law for those guys to be shirtless.

Seriously Brick, the ladies are getting ripped-off here. We got our candy - how about their turn?

Here is an idea for the next thread theme. The ladies' choices for the hottest NBA players. Any early nominations ladies?

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. That game was a nail biter. We barely pulled it out. Would have been disastrous for the the ping-pong game. Management needs to hear that the fans want to stop the madness: PLAY THE YOUNGINS! We might have to concede that Artest should be the one vet allowed to play. I don't want to think about what would happen if we told Artest we were giving Cisco his minutes for the rest of the season.

In retrospect, it is interesting that after the Charlotte game, when there were quotes from King's players that they weren't giving up, that in fact, they did. Granted, they've been motivated to play against Phoenix and Dallas, but they haven't been motivated against the more pedestrian teams, (like the Clippers) who they needed to beat in order have a playoff chance. They definitely are in fishing mode...

Not a bad idea... I'm pretty incapable of judging male looks, but the WNBA has at least a few players who are fun to watch in more ways than one.

Seattle's Sue Bird

New York's Becky Hammon

Seattle's Lauren Jackson also has her fans, although her most noteworthy pics exceed kingsfans.com's allowable skin factor.

With more than twice as many players in the NBA, there must be SOME guys who qualify.

Just googled Lauren Jackson (out of curiosity, of course.) Is there a drool icon?

Quite classy.
