Question: If a King misses the second free throw and the rebound is gathered by the Lakers, is that considered an offensive rebound?
I don't think you worded that correctly. But, if I understand what I think you're asking, it counts as a team rebound.

I was wondering if there was a correlation between our number of missed free throws and the number of rebounds the Lakers got off those missed free throws.

i thought what she meant was, yes we missed a ton of free throws but if we would have kept the Lakers off the damn offensive glass it wouldn't have mattered. Coach riding Carl Landry over Reggie Evans sure didn't help that cause

Malone on the last play:
“We ran two plays late in the game. The first one where we called a timeout, and got Rudy Gay the chance to catch on the right wing and make a play, with screening action on the weak side for Ben McLemore, who I think was open. But we’re gonna trust Rudy Gay to make plays. And that last play, you give them (Lakers) credit, they defended it well. It was a play with a lot of different options. The first look was for Nik Stauskas to come up, but if he didn’t have it, to have other screening action to get Ben McLemore and Darren Collison a look. So, the execution was just OK on that play. It needs to be a lot better. ”

I have to say, Collison missing 5 straight FTs, that's just, well, I can't imagine that hasever happened before to him or will ever happen again.

I don't know either but I guess I do give folks and certainly Malone the benefit of the doubt.

I don't understand. Why are you giving him the benefit of the doubt? We're doubting what's going on because we're watching game after game, where things are not adding up and do not make sense.....unless the focus and "agenda" is not to actually win as many games as possible

For the life of me I can't figure out the thinking on this and I went back and watched that play a few times.

First off, why would Nik be an option above Rudy/DC/Ben? Second, there was no other screening action and clear attempts to get anyone open. Third, if the 1st option was shut down as it was with Nik, then why would you want Nik handling up top waiting to hit someone else coming off a screen? Has Nik handled up top under pressure and found someone in rhythm for a jumper even once this year? That should have been either Rudy or DC up top handling and waiting for Ben or Nik to come off a screen, if we were going to put Nik out there.

And I go back to the time on the clock. If that 1st option is closed down we had time to quickly attack the rim, then foul, hope for a miss and come back down. That again begs the question why Nik was up top with that responsibility.

I have quite a problem with our guys fighting for 47 mins and 45 secs, then for Malone to decide it's time to develop Nik Stauskas. Not fair to Nik, not fair to the team. The kid's confidence has been in the gutter for over a month, a few days ago could barely get on the court at all and now we're running a game winning play for him, when he didn't even have a good game? The ghost of Douby has appeared.

But if DC doesn't shoot his FT's like Shaq, we're 12-10 and never get to that situation.

That's funny. I had immediate thoughts of Douby missing a game winner after that play as well. When was that?

I was wondering if there was a correlation between our number of missed free throws and the number of rebounds the Lakers got off those missed free throws.
Those wouldn't be classified as offensive rebounds. Rebounds recovered by the other team off of our missed free throws do, in fact, count as defensive rebounds. I thought that maybe you had inadvertently typed "second" instead of "first."

The issue is that even if we do make a few more free throws and win the game,...Malone's decisions are still just as bad, if the actual goal is to win as many games as possible going forward this season.

Hitting a couple extra free throws does not cover up the continued garbage decision to go to Ramon over and over again, despite abysmal play....nor would winning a game here or there make it ok to not play Casspi in two straight games after he's had the most efficient and valuable stretch of his career.

Something "different" is going on here. Either Malone was vastly over estimated in his prospects as a head coach and/or the front office has their finger prints all over his in game decisions, with another agenda for roster changes, where it "doesn't matter" who are best players are at the moment.

By the way, just because someone is a good defensive assistant, doesn't necessarily mean they will be good as a head coach

Reading Bricks and Capt.s evaluations of DWill and Landry I have to retusn to the question: Why didn't Casspi see floor. If you want to showcase DWill, play him at the PF and Casspi at the SF. Casspi does organize the offense and passes willingly. What I've seen in the previous games, DWill benefits from Casspi on the floor with him. DWill is a finisher at the rim. He needs somebody to create that situation. By the way, the same goes for Landry. Having both Landry and DWill on the floor kills the game. Nobody creates anything. Casspi is essential in that situation. Casspi moves the ball at the perimeter and when he drives, he also kicks or passes the ball. That's the bread and the butter for players like Landry and DWill. Without that they don't score. Bad mistake from Malone.

Despite our L, I'm very optimistic about this team. We're currently 10-10 having played 10 games without a full healthy roster. If you take a close look at those 10 loses, all of them aside from 3-4 of the loses, the rest were winnable down the stretch. Currently, we are a team trying to learn to play without the best player on our team.

Cousins is an example of a true MVP. Our entire game plan has changed without Cousins. Both our players and coaches have to learn new offensive and defensive sets and schemes. We can't put Reggie Evans out there in place of DMC and expect him to perform like DMC.

I think all of our problems are easily fixable. It would not hurt us if we obtained another big, someone like Withey. Or look for a better backup PG, someone like Nate Robinson or Jerryd Bayless. Is it just me, or does Ramon Sessions and Bayless look alike?? Surprisingly, a lot of backup PGs are struggling this year.

I hope we can continue to stay competitive even with Cousins. Our biggest problems remain on our bench. There is not one decent defender coming off the bench. I think that's our biggest weakness. However, I think it's fixable.

i just watched Houston vs Golden State. The Warriors got hot in the last 5 minutes and took control but the Rockets really played some great defense in the game, especially Beverly on Curry. Without Cuz, our offense has been a struggle, i think we are really going to have a tough time scoring tomorrow. i predict no more than 85 points
