Unfortunately, there are times when the music is the only noise in the arena. I can't remember which game it was last year (not at Sleep Train), but I think there were more Kings players, coaches and related personnel in the building than there were fans of the home team.

The team was active on defense and NY shooting percentage showed that. If they play this hard on defense, more wins will come. Just wish that Karl wouldn't play that 2 PG lineup so much, it's not a very good defensive lineup no matter who else is with them.

It also isn't that good of an offensive lineup. The parts don't seem to work and there is no flow.

Most fans feel the same way. Chuck barely talked about the game. He yammered on for 3 minutes about something that could be said in 3 words, and then repeated it again 15 minutes later as though he forgot he had said it. He sounded like drunk old man. It wasn't just what he says, but that he was on mental vacation during the broadcast.

National fans don't like Chuck, Kenny or Reggie doing live broadcasts. They like them int he studio, but any time they sit courtside, there's a lot of complaints.

It is not a bad way to do it. Harry Caray made a living doing it this way for decades.

That is not consistent with my experience. I certainly see it, but nothing that could be reasonably described as "most."
 
Barkley in the studio is somewhat entertaining when he's with Shaq and Ernie is running the show. Barkley as an analyst was turrrrible as he would say. He went on and on about NY and Porzingas and Melo at the expense of the game. CWebb can be ok and will breakdown a game or play but last night Barkley brought the whole crew down.

I have to disagree with you. Maybe casual fans like him, but he gets widely panned as an idiot on the RealGM forums whenever he tries to be an analyst. He's okay as an entertainer/comedian in the studio; he says the type of stuff that people (trolls) say on the internet but he does it in front of a camera. He says plenty of things that are ignorant/misinformed and he gets called out for it though. This is hardly just Kings fans being overly sensitive. I don't think Warriors fans like him much either.

Well NBA forums, reddit, etc. The sentiment about the studio guys sitting courtside is negative. Fans think it will be fun, but about a quarter into the game they remember how bad it was last time.

People were tired of Chuck and it's a national audience responding to it. People don't like those guys courtside. They love them in studio, but they're no good with live action.
 
I'm not arguing that he was any good; I thought he was awful. I just don't think that he's hated by "most" basketball fans, which is what is being claimed.

Frankly, even if I were to stipulate to that, it doesn't really detract from my initial thesis, which is that Kings Fans are overly sensitive to "getting picked on" by the national media, and have what I think is a greater propensity than most teams' fans to determine whether a national media guy is good according to how "fair" they are to us.
 
I would grant you your original thesis....... hell yes, we ARE overly sensitive to getting picked on, made fun of, talked down about. That happens when, over a long period of time, just those things have happened, and happened consistently. Hell, even when we had THE TEAM, there was still derision on the national level. Perhaps that happens to everyone, though I really don't see it, since I don't follow any other team as closely as this one.
However, that doesn't detract from the fact that Barkley is horrid as a basketball 'analyst' and he sucks as any sort of addition to watching a game on tv that he is speaking on, no matter what team you are rooting for. I would like to know what you think what his contribution as a "National Media guy" is, exactly?
 
i don't find him funny, but maybe that is just me? I actually find it a bit sad. I really liked him as a player, probably because he appealed to my non-conformity bias... but it doesn't translate well
 
I find him funny, but I'm also not a hardcore sports fan. I prefer people who talk about pop culture/current events/etc., in the context of sports to people that just talk about sports.
 
Chuck is one of the NBA's 50 greatest players and has made it no secret he wants a front office job. Yet he hasn't even gotten so much as an interview with anyone. Why is that?

Informed people view him as a clown, good for a laugh and ratings but not to be taken seriously. He's stuck in the 80's/90's and he's flat out lazy with his takes; sometimes I don't even think he watches the games that are on TNT, let alone other teams around the league. He's like a less articulate version of Skip Bayless.

And yet.. Some of his more recent views include: not believing GS could win a championship because they were a jumpshooting team, not bothering with the analytics stuff, and saying he doesn't like Cousins shooting 3s, that when he's in the post he's far better drawing fouls and whatnot. Also says Blake is/was a softie. These are views that quite a number of posters here share, and they are quite "unconventional" in the sense that the rest of the media often said otherwise.
 
Unsung heroes of the game were:

1) Derek Fisher for waiting an entire half to start posting up Porzingis on Casspi, and then after that worked, deciding to go small and hilariously putting the rook on Cousins to disastrous results

2) Carmelo for his hero/Kobe ball and just blatantly ignoring open teammates on several key possessions
 
Sure missed Grant Gand Jerry doing the game. I never did get what subject the new that did were talking about, surely not the game I was watching.
 
Everywhere I've ever looked until today on Wikipedia says Kosta was born in Canton, Ohio. And that fact was clearly recently changed on Wikipedia.

I find it hard to believe everywhere but a crowd sourced site is wrong.

We're 8-8 with Cuz. A 41 win pace. We again are on pace to win 30 because as usual we are 1-7 wihtout him, which is .125, or a 10 win pace sans Boogie.

If he stays healthy and we never pulled it a bit more together we'd be on pace to go 29-29 the rest of the way and finish 38-44.

If we pull it together, which we often seem right on the brink of doing, we could threaten .500.

If he gets hurt again...
