We will know that the Kings have hit rock bottom when Jerry Reynolds is drafted to coach the remaining games of the season.

This is depressing. Maybe it is the roster which includes a man named Sampson?

There's that fames Piksimism we all know and love!;)
I don't think there is such a thing as piksimism anymore, and that may be the saddest thing of all. The dude abides, but the Kings sure aren't.

Garcia was impressive tonight, from what I saw, and reading his line on the boxscore. As he improves on his shot and grows as a player, these are the kind of games (as in production/stats) and player he's gonna be, and I love it!

Also, good to see that Hart played pretty well, and for Ronnie to just get some regular time out there.

It's good that he can do a lot of things well, it's going to be all about consistancy with this guy... at least he is going to get minutes.

Well how about this for a ray of optimism -- we seem to have stabilized as about a .400 team capable of winning 30-32 games this year.

Actually at the point that is the case, if its actually not rock bottom it actually might HELP us in the long run, ala the Spurs getting awful just in time to snag Duncan.

Is Morrison really the new Bird?

Wait.. and who's been right so far? I'd also like to think that tonights pathetic embarassment against the Hornets is rock bottom for this "talented team" as you think they are but It's pretty much obvious by now. We suck, we sucked before the injuries(10-15) and we still suck now, and we are going to continue to suck, because like I said last year, this summer, this pre-season, and this whole season, this team is not put together well and has to many players with glaring weaknesses in their games and no leadership. That's the truth STK, sorry to break it to you.. again.
.

Oh no... I didn't know. I am going to go rush and bury my face in a pillow to muffle my whimpers.

Thanks for breaking it to me...

And to think YOU knew it all along. I apologize.

There are archives, but my opinions have been well know here.. but like I said I've had this same disussion with you more than a few times over the past year, and it usually ends with me saying I hope your right and I'm wrong... well?? I like you STK, I really do, and I like your optimism but not at the sake of blindly disregarding the facts.

My optimism? I will always try to be optimisic, but if things get worse than they have in the last 4 game stretch then the team should just move to another city because nobody within the organization will be able to show their face.

We have lost 3 of the last 4 games by a combined total of more than 50 pts. We are severely short handed right now. And as Brick mentioned, basically fielding a lottery worthy team. Not that we were tearing up the league before all the injuries, but we seriously got shredded the last week. Things could always be worse. As in; nothing is done to salvage the future of this team.

Heck yeah you are. There is an old saying in AA... "Bottom is just where you put the shovel down, you can always pick it up and dig some more!"

Again(and I can't believe I'm saying this;) ) I hope you are right, Petrie needs to make moves by the trade deadline or more pieces are going to walk away for nothing. No offense on the earlier posts STK, but after tonight I am really pissed of at our whole oranization, they have done pretty much everything I argued against even before last year and it sickens me to see the team like this... an also ran against the Hornets twice in one year. Hopefully petrie can work his magic, but I no longer believe.

What choice do we have but to believe? You watch the games hoping to see the team do well, you trust in the ownership of the franchise to do the right things, and in this case, notice the obvious. They may, and then again they may not. All we can do is watch, cheer, and hope.

Or not.

Opinions are opinions. Oh well we got Orlando and Phoenix next right? Hopeful? At least Franchise isn't playing.

Losing to the Hornets, in Oklahoma, on Friday the 13th isn't rock bottom?!
Why would losing on the road to a team with a better record be rock bottom?

Now, when we lose by twenty at home to the Hawks? We'll be... closer... to rock bottom...

F to brad miller's clean shaven look. looks better with the goatee =)

Martin ( C ) -- another quiet start. Again have to ask...what's going on? These games are his chance to start + prove something. But just no real spark again tonight. Best thing he did on the night was dive back in on the glass. Along with Garcia, did most of our rebounding in the first quarter and it was either sad or amusing to see our SF and OG back there crashing the glass while the "bigs" were nowhere to be found. Finally peppered in a smattering of jumpers, but after that series of good games Kevin just seems to have...quit? I don't know. Last 4 games as our starter 2pts, 6pts, 5pts, 6pts, and undoing much of the goodwill he had built up as a starter there.

You know, I used to wonder why Kevin would all of the sudden quit attacking for long stretches (games at a time and stand around in the corner waiting, waiting, waiting, for the offense to come to him, but after reading this comment from Adelman, I think I just figured it out.

Making them count - The transition from practice all-star to game-time gunner continues for Francisco García.
García - known among Kings players and coaches for shooting the lights out in practice - hit 3 of 4 three-pointers Wednesday night as he scored 12 points in the Kings' 88-80 win over Houston.
"Maybe a game like this will get him a little relaxed, where he'll look for his shot and start knocking them down," Adelman said.
And maybe he'll listen to Adelman's instructions next time. Early in the fourth quarter, Adelman hollered at García for making an unnecessary cut to the hoop. Had he been patient and stayed in the corner, Adelman told him, he would have had an open look.
García tried to calm his coach, as he put up his hands up and said, "My bad." Minutes later, he made good on it. On an almost identical play, García stood his ground, took a pass in the opposite corner and buried a three that helped stave off the surging Rockets. "We've been telling him and Kevin (Martin) for 33 games to stay in the corner and quit cutting to the basket," Adelman said. "Kevin did it three times (against Houston). If they just stay in their spots, they're going to have wide-open shots. ... But those guys are young, and I don't know if there's some part of 'Stay in the corner, or stay in your spot' that they don't understand. I don't get it
."

Here's the part I don't get. Why the hell would you WANT your athletic, more effective cutting to the basket or in transition guys standing around waiting for the occasional 3? What happened to movement off the ball???? What happened to the princeton MOTION offense? Only certain players are supposed to move? Gee, I wonder if that explains why the offense is sometimes stagnant? Everyone is standing in their spot, waiting for their shot........except Mike. No wonder he's dribbling like a chicken with his head cut off, he IS the motion to get those patiently waiting guys their shot.
*I understand there are 2 or 3 times a game where the offense will move to Kevin's side of the floor and that's when he will get an opportunity to cut, or touch the ball, but honestly, what happened to the days when EVERYONE touched the ball?

Got to agree here, KP has been nothing but consistent in his opinion.

well theres one good thing

A+++ for Pejas warm-up shooting

if this is true ...

"At one point in pregame warmups, Stojakovic made 11 straight and 19 of 20 3-pointers he attempted."

I'm not all that smart about basketball but I don't understand the "stand in the corner". The game in which Martin scored his most points he was moving and driving to the basket. I would be down also if told to "go stand in the corner". My third grade teacher told me to do that a lot.

That is a prime example of adelman's stubborn coaching, he needs to realize not every player is a good 3-points shooter. If a player is better at attacking the basket, then Adelman should design some plays that take advantage of the player's skill.

I agree, and I do know quite a bit about basketball (or at least I like to pretend I do and not too many people around here will hurt my feelings by letting me know otherwise). ;)

Kevin Martin is FAST. Not just fast, but F-A-S-T. He can cut inside and have the defender still watching where he used to be. He's pretty fearless, in that he'll drive into a big guy AND he's not afraid to take a charge on the other end. He has a sweet little underhand lay-up and the kid can flat out fly, both for rebounds AND for nice looking dunks.

So of course the best thing to do is have him stand in the corner and wait idly (ala GPAM syndrome) for the rest of the team to create a shot for him...

There is NO excuse at this point in the development of the new kids on the team not to allow them to strengthen those types of moves we really need from them. We do not need another stand in the corner, wait for the ball to come to you perimeter shooter right now. We need someone who will play IN the paint, either scoring or getting to the free throw line.

To read Adelman's comment a few days back that confirmed he had, in fact, told both Garcia and Martin to stand in the corner and was a little peeved when they didn't do it totally boggled my mind. In fact, not only was my mind boggled, my flabber was ghasted.
