Don't Make Me Use The Bat

Tick tock. Sun is starting to go down now. Games tomorrow and Monday (vs. Pels) now critical to even the longshot late playoff rush theory.

Team was odd tonight. Would hope, unsuccessfully, that the idea we can thrive without Rudy or couldn't use one extra offensive weapon when he's not around is being debunked, but doubtful.

The game today pretty much summed up Cousins career so far, that's being uninterested and lazy for the first half followed up by a amazing 3rd of incredibly stellar play to get us into the lead only to come back into the 4th to make 5-7 horrednous plays to choke in the clutch like normal resulting in his stat line looking amazing and the Kings losing.

WCS need more playing time loved what I saw from him and Q they need to play together when Cousins is not in the game. That Quincy Acy dunk over Anderson was ****ing ridiculous.

The idea isn't just to remove Rudy from the team entirely and not replace him with nothing. The idea is to replace him with an offensive threat that works off the dominant offensive big and the non-shooting playmaking PG. Just a few players in the FA who would work great:

Beal (RFA)
Batum (UFA)
Barnes (RFA)
Parsons (PO)
Anderson (UFA)
Horford (UFA) Major pipe dream, but Horford, Cousins and WCS would be absolutely stupid on both ends.

Exactly Gay would be replaced. Say we trade Gay/Ben for Bradley than sign Batumn we are instantly better.

So in the final minute we have two timeouts and on both occasions Boogie gets the ball behind the 3-point line. He didn't go anywhere near the low post for the entire 4th quarter. George Karl seriously expects this team to win a close game with a strategy where nobody plays close to the basket?

That is on Cousins. I am sure if he wanted to go down low on the block he has all the backing of the coaches. He is either too tired, or just doesn't care. His body language is pathetic.

A little harsh but unfortuneately there s a little bit too much truth in what you say.

Acy and WCS have to be part of the team going forward. Acy brings energy in a Fareid-type way and actually is better than I originally thought he could be. He actually has a bit of a jump shot along with all that angry energy.

WCS is going to be a superstar. In Boogie's 1st year I said the same and was advised to be a little more cautious. As to Willie, I ain't going to be cautious. ;) Give him a year or two where he gets used to his opponents and he will be one of the best if not the best defender in the NBA. Am I a homer? Of course I am but am I probably correct? I am as correct as anyone can be at this point in Trill's limited career. Now, he has all but promised us that he will develop an offensive game. I believe him. He is not one who brags without having something to back it up - my guess. He has attempted a few jump shots and it is almost as if he is gradually increasing the distance on his shots. Yesterday he took a dribble step backward and swished his longest shot of the year. Let us remember that this young dude took 25 jump shots in his three year college career. The ally oop will keep us all awake when he is on the floor as he throws it down from a long distance. Yesterday Zach got to appreciate one up close and personal. :) He will continue to make all the Fareid like mop up shots but what is exciting is the jump shot. Throw in a hook shot - he has a bit of one - and he is going to be an offensive force. Like Boogie? Hell no. On the court with Boogie? Scary as hell.

WCS was the perfect pick this year and is turning out to be better than I will bet any of us guessed. I'd love to hear what bajaden has to say about my view. The day will come when we realize this team will rise and fall by more than Boogie. I am sure Boogie will appreciate that.

This is unnecessarily cruel.

I agree with most of what you said but superstar and WCS just don't go together unless you mean a superstar role player. But I must admit his ball skills in particular the jumper are way better than i thought and i remember someone on here posting a workout video of his and WCS was just drilling everything and at the time I was like well I doubt he can do it in the game but both him and Q have been in limited supply super reliable from mid range.

I'd like for us to run plays for him get his confidence up and more invovled on offense moving forward with the season basically being sort of over.

Deepends on how you define superstar. In any case, we got ourself a good one.

Well, I've been lusting after Willie since his freshman year. I have to note Uncia03 as well, because we both sat and lamented about our love for him. And both of us were thrilled when the Kings picked him. Having said that, I don't know how good he can be. But I'm certain he's far from a finished product. He was limited by Calipari as to what he was allowed to do at Kentucky. Just because he didn't show us something there, doesn't mean he didn't have it in his bag of tricks. When Cuz was at Kentucky, he never took jumpshots, and if he did take a jumpshot, his butt would have been on the bench so fast his head would have been swimming.

Same thing for Willie. Calipari wanted him to be the garbage man around the basket on offense, and play great defense at the other end. My one worry about Willie was that in college he got into foul trouble a lot, and I wondered if that would follow him to the NBA, but so far, it hasn't. As for being successful without Cuz. I've been around too long and seen too many great players come and go to think that there's finally one that can't be replaced. I do my best to never fall in love with a player.

I don't think you have to run plays for Willie to get his confidence up. I think he already has that confidence, he just needs to get his number called. You can tell by the way he shoots the ball or uses his hook shot. He doesn't think about it, he just does it like a reflex action. That's a the action of someone that has confidence. As long as the shot continues to go in, then the shot is warranted. The only thing worse than a player that's lost confidence and passes up open shots, is a player that can't throw a rock into the ocean but continues to shoot with confidence.

I think WCS can become Ben Wallace with a better offensive game and able to guard people on the perimeter. That is his ceiling and the superstar I think he becomes.

Why do people assume getting someone in free agency is so easy for us? It's like they get amnesia after the start of the season. None of the big free agents that gave a choice want to come here. We get our assets through draft and trades. Once they're here then we have a chance at resigning them but from the outside, no one of real importance wants to get here. Be that dmc and Rudy actually wanted to be in sac and stop trying to ship them out.

As I read your note I could sense the valuation going up. Starting with Ben Wallace and moving up can result in a major league stud. I don't think people understand his defensive ability mainly because he needs to understand the people he is guarding and that takes a bit of experience. I still want to see a race between he and Collison. :)

I agree as do most people I hope. The word Sacramento may no longer sound like the equivalent of Timbuktu because of Boogie (people want to play with him) and the new arena.

I hope, anyway.

Exactly. He is struggling with guarding the Big Men that can shoot from deep, but give him time to review film and just experience playing certain players and he'll be fine guardig the Ryan Anderson types. It's got to be weird for a big to chase other bigs and fight thru screens to contest a shot from a 4/5. But you can tell already, he's one of the best big men already I'm the league at D.

Sadly, I don't agree. I wish I did, but I think the biggest detriment to getting freeagents to come here is our reputation. Players talk to one another. Butler, who signed in good faith, expecting to get minutes, limited though they may be, is getting nothing, and Butler is respected around the league. We made him a promise that we would try and trade him by the trade deadline, and that didn't happen. He haven't offered to buy him out as far as I know. I suspect he's not a happy camper, and I'm sure he relates that to other players around the league when we play them. The NBA is like one big country club. Everyone knows one another and they talk.

Sadly, I think most of the league thinks of us as one giant mess, starting at the top. If your a top freeagent, and you get a great offer from the Kings, and another one from the lowly Lakers, who do you think that freeagent is going to choose? If your a Pau Gasol, and only have a few years left, do you choose the Kings? Other than Cousins, and the nice weather, along with a new arena, there's nothing that attractive about the team, and I'm Mr. Optimist. I think we can become an attractive alternative in the future, but not now. Either were going to have to over pay big time, or were going to be signing the leftovers, which to some extent, is what we did last time around. Believe me, I hope I'm wrong....

I said nothing of the sort that any of the above players would be easy to get. I said them as examples of better fits potentially around Rondo and Cousins.
