Ron was taking open 3s. He can hit them usually, he was just exhausted and playing injured.

He may be exhausted and injured - and if so, he has to play accordingly. He is NOT the only option we have and if he is tired, he should defer.

But, I fail to see how Ron Artest usually hits 3's. He's sub 30% over his career andaround 25% since joining us. He's a mediocre deep shooter - around 30-33% ... if he's taking smart shots.

Who should he defer to if he's open? That means there are 5 guys covering his 4 teammates. A better idea would be getting a closer shot, but still. You've got to take what the defense gives you, and he was clearly exhausted playing on an injured hip.

Most of his hoisted 3s aren't "open".

They are either covered or he's 5 feet behind the line. Neither shot is smart.

Not necessarily.

I prefer a 10 foot shot to a guy that's not shooting well hoisting junk.

Exhausted or not - if he isn't going to hit it when he's open - he shouldn't take the shot. I'm sure Shaq would be open from 15 feet all night - but he's also going to shot sub-40% if he shoots from there.
