Grades v. Clippers 12/29

I've seen Artest play hundreds of games, many times in person and I don't think I've ever seen Ronnie play quite like that. His heart just isn't into it right now. Maybe his knees are bothering him and maybe his back is too - but that is not what is bothering him most of all.

It breaks my heart to see what I saw in the Clippers game

Bibby: A- for going 9 of 19 and a perfect 6 of 6 from the line. But only 3 assists and not much in clutch time keep his grade from hitting a straight A. Did he play in the first half? Well, maybe a 'B' then...

Coach: dnc (did not coach - coach's decision)

disagree with many of your grades, but the unveiling of the dnc grade makes up for any other disagreements! Pretty much says it all.

That's been my impression for for a bit now. Yes, it is sad. He looks disconnected, and most of the others look frustrated, even young, usually positive Martin. :(

Yeah, I get the gist that my grades were a bit on the kind side - at least for a team that's managing to disappoint pretty much everyone with a pulse. :(

I hear people blaming the coach nearly every day for how bad this team is. I got news for everybody: This Kings just aren't very good. They weren't very good last season, but played above their heads for a while after Artest came in. The coaching (good or bad) isn't going to change things that much. This is a .500 team at best, and a 25-30 win team at worst. You can't make a cake out of rotten flour.

Yes, the team isn't very good. BUT a part of that is their total lack of identity or sense of community. That HAS to come from the coach and work its way down. There are coaches who can instill that feeling of unity into a team. Adelman was one of them. I think Sloan is one of them. Eric Musselman isn't one of them. Larry Brown isn't one of them.

The Kings had the luxury of being coached by someone who understood team dynamics and worked magic with various personalities and egos. Musselman understands power point presentations and the on-paper game of basketball but it's becoming more and more obvious he doesn't understand the complex young men he's been hired to coach.
