"I'm sure my take will be interpreted as "negative" but I 'm not too impressed by this win. It took Salmons finally showing up to do it and they still tried their hardest to give the game away in the 4th with stupid mistakes. It wasn't a convincing win."

I'm confused about how the above quote would elicit your response. It seems rather bland to me.

That statement that you quoted was directed towards me. VF was warning me how I can easily get my a** banned again.

I get crap for backing up my blair witch comrad RookieofTheYear

Hope that helps lol

I think they were talking to the person who agreed with me. It's still puzzling and a bit comical that such a tame comment caused an uproar, though.

I think people are just irked that you're complaining after a win. Which is understandable.

One thing I've learned here at Kingsfans, is that if you want to bash a player, pick an unpopular target, and if you want to be negative, you have to do it with some humor a la Piksi. :

I find the lament at this not being a "convincing" win laughable. We have the youngest team in the league, a coaching change already, half the team is new this year, a lockout, several starters injured during the short training camp we did have, a coach who wasn't apparently teaching our players anything at all (or coaching) until a few weeks ago, the most road games so far of any team.......and people are complaining about a win against a tough veteran playoff team???

News flash - we aren't the Lakers, or Heat, or any other great team right now. We are a young team with players finally getting some coaching. Any win is a good win.

I think some folks would complain if someone gave them a million bucks because it was in ones instead of twenties. SMH

Thank you Warhawk.

Not to me. It’s a pretty alien concept to me, actually. There’s really no case where I’d agree that it’s understandable that folks are irked merely because someone expressed an opinion that differs from the rest of the pack. I simply can’t relate to the apparent need that most folks have that others hold the same opinions, have the same reactions, etc. I like variety, so I can’t relate to an outlook that seeks to limit variety rather than foster it.

Yeah I learned that some time ago. It’s rather lame that that’s the case, though.

and if you want to be negative, you have to do it with some humor a la Piksi. :

Why do folks have to behave a certain way for other folks to not be upset? I kind of take the opposite approach in that if person x is offended by something person y says, the problem lies not with person y but rather with person x for being offendable in the first place. The solution is to not be offendable. In other words, master your environment, don’t let it master you.

Gotcha. Now I'll have to go back and check that comment out...you have me intrigued.:D

That's fine. I'm not at all worried about how I'm perceived by others. It's beyond my control. It's fine that you feel "any win against a playoff team is a good win when you're a basement dweller" but why do you need others to feel that way as well?

Remember the epic battles you and i used to engage in? LOL. They really made my time at work pass more quickly.

Some look at the glass as half empty, some look at the glass as half full.

It's an old saying but it really holds water. :)

Those being positive are not missing the faults. They just chose not to let it get in the way of enjoying a rare win. Others skipped right past the enjoy part and continued on with the fault pointing. Two different points of view. But tell me which one enjoys the journey along the way?

RookieOfTheDay:

My post was kind of for lolz. But anyways, I think people are irked because a lot of us here are desperate for some kind of silver lining to this past era of crap we've had to go through, so we scrap our way to a win against a playoff team that routinely destroys us, its a cause for celebration, and when someone comes and starts complaining, it tends to undermine the good will.

I agree though, you do have a right to express your opinion. And the mere fact that you're even here posting with our team so bad means that you're just as diehard as the rest of us. Some fans just take things more personally than others.

I imagine you're just a cautious dude who doesnt want to get psyched prematurely. We've had a lot of hiccups over this long rebuild, and being negative is a good way to avoid disappointment! To each their own (approach to fandom)!

You're right, at least about being sure. I'm a first step guy, I want them to be in games, all games. The last three they did that. Things are looking up.

If I’m following you correctly here, you’re saying that the positive folks see the negatives but that the negative folks don’t see the positives?

What would that be based on? Is it just that the negative folks haven’t come out and acknowledged the positives so you assume they must just not be aware of them? If that’s the case, it would follow that you should also assume that the positive folks aren’t aware of the negatives because they haven’t acknowledged them, either.

You followed incorrectly.

I get that, and that’s fine. What I don’t get is why the people looking for the silver lining are bothered by those who don’t see it. That suggests to me that maybe the silver lining folks privately have doubts about their positive outlook.

That’s pretty much it. For the last three seasons I’ve gotten excited when this team has a mini win streak, gets a great win, plays a contender tough, etc. Every single time though I’m let down when they fallow it up with a losing streak and reverting right back to their same old ways. Every time I’ve thought they were about to turn the corner, they’ve pulled rug out from under me.

I’m just tired of it so I’ve tempered my expectations. A win here and there just doesn’t do it for me any more. I want to see good, competitive basketball over a prolonged stretch. I’m not excepting championship or even playoffs. This team is a long way from both. I just want to see tangible improvement, that they’re at least headed in the right direction.

You're right, at least about being sure. I'm a first step guy, I want them to be in games, all games. The last three they did that. Things are looking up.

That's reasonable. I need a larger sample size than just a three game stretch though. Much larger.

I haven't seen this Portland game yet (DVR), but I'll give you a positive:

The Kings have been competitive even in games where they have way too many boneheaded plays.
I'm actually shocked they can be in games when they are fumbling and stumbling on offense so badly.

I hope you continue to be shocked. :)

The Utah game may have been better, but this is the third solid competitive game in a row we've played, we've got our guys back mostly, and we have 3 weak opponents coming up. This thing may be turning.

I agree 100%. Last night could have easily been the third win in a row for the Kings.

FWIW, last season the Kings got their 7th win in game #31; this season in game #22.
Go Kings!!

This is all i asked for at the beginning of the season. Just play competitive and be entertaining. I can handle games in which they lose, as long as they are showing me something. It's the games in which they are getting smoked to the point that i am turning off the game at halftime that i find unacceptable.
