Golden State wants Artest

I think we will get what we want from Golden State.

I'm surprised with all the Artest to GS rumors flying around no one caught them on here.

Well heres some highlights for GS
1 (THEY THINK) this puts them right in it with rest of west (see lame Webber)
2 Nellie would be living in small-ball heaven
3 They actualy got bargaining chips (see million expiring contracts)
4 Ron is friends with many of the players (see Baron, S. Jaxon, Al Harrington)
5 There also seems to be indications from Chris Mullin and Donnie Nelson

......................

Their philosophy was to be ready to extend some of their young talent (see Monta Ellis) and they sure have. They have the pieces to make the push to get Artest now.

.......................

Only question is what do we want?

Exprings, Biedrins (or other young potential big see Brandon Wright who we should have got someone as talented as in last years draft)

Where did you hear those rumors? Because sending him to Golden State could be the best deal of all for us. They are stocked with young guys we could get back, from O'Bryant to Bellinelli to Brandon Wright (which would be a coup).

However if we took back Al Harrington so that we could live in our own smallball "flexible" heaven I would scream.

I would tell GS to gimme

Pietrus 3.4 (exp)
Barnes 3.0 (exp) and
B. Wright *rookie contract

With Artest at SF Pietrus and Barnes are unneccesary. I would like to bring Matt back home and most importantly get our real young potential big man.

I think this morning. It was on a GS Warriors blog. This is what he said:

There was some weird rumor floating out there that the Warriors would make a run at Ron Artest. What was proposed out there doesn't work as far as numbers are concerned, but that's another team. The Warriors are another team that I could see going for broke and signing Chris Webber wouldn't be the end of it.

If there's anything to this, the deal should be a piece of cake.

Artest/Justin Williams for trade exception/one of Monta Ellis (my preference) or Brandan Wright.

Petrie might still be trying to attach KT to an Artest deal, but I can't see him succeeding on that one.

I doubt they trade Ellis, but Brandon Wright and Patrick O'Bryant both seem obtainable. I wouldn't mind taking a chance on either (or both) of them. I'd want their first round pick this year too.

I'd rather have Nene than Brandon Wright though.

Can someone translate this? Is this news that Bucher thinks GS might sign Webber? Duh! And what's the rest?

I do not want Ellis unless we plan on moving him to another team, he's not a PG IMO especially not the PG we want. Wright would be our dude, but even if this is true it's Bucher after all.

I wouldn't take a risk with O'Bryant for an established great player. Brandon Wright (who was considered the 3rd best overall player in the draft despite dropping in the draft). I might actually ask for both because O'Bryant really is unproven and could be a flop.

Barnes might be upset at being traded back to us, but he's a local so he might forgive us.

Why? He's injury prone, signed to a huge contract, out of shape, and he'll never be much of a defender. Wright has a chance to develop into a 20-10-2 guy and he's still in the first year of his rookie deal.

Come on guys Ellis is not going to be available; Nellie loves him and Belinelli isn't close to being ready yet. GS would be crazy to overpay for Artest like that, what's his going rate right now? Linas Kleiza? For us to get Ellis or even Wright we'd need New York, Denver, or Miami to start getting serious about Artest.

Gotta love Ric Bucher. He's always good for a laugh or two and some rampant speculation.

Define "not as bad"...

Sorry but I still haven't forgotten Bucher's "GUARANTEE" that Chris Webber was lying to Kings fans, that he would not re-sign with us and that he (Bucher) knew for a fact Webber was going to sign with Detroit within 48 hours.

:)

I agree 1) it's Bucher, and 2) they would be reluctant to part with Ellis, but I think he could play point guard. He's got more passing instincts than Bibby, and while he's played the 2 in GS he's pretty good at creating shots. I've always liked the idea of a Ellis/Martin backcourt. Combine them with Salmons or Garcia and they would just run people off the floor.

Oh yeah, if you can get Monta, you make it work. Don't think they're giving him up, though. Even Wright would be a coup.

I think Artest to GS makes the most sense. They also have a huge trade exception thanks to the Richardson deal with Charlotte to make things easier. Maybe we do 1 deal (Harrington, Wright for Artest, Douby?)and they take Kenny in a separate deal for part of the exception?

But he's also a lot bigger, and a lot more proven -- not just in the NBA but in international play as well. Brandon Wright is a good gamble to make, but he's still a gamble. I don't think he's even played a game in the NBA yet. Nene's got a big contract and some injury issues, but he's a legitimate NBA player and a good one. Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy with either one. I just think Nene would help us more.

Short term, and I am generally fine with an Artest for Nene deal. But if you get a kid like Brandon Wright you have basically managed to get two lottery picks out of last year's draft, and your potential PF/C combo of the future. And they are cheap, allowing you salary flexibility going forward whereas with Neen it jsut has to work or you are in salary hell. Watching the potential would be fun...if we ever cleared out enough Brads and Mikkis to let them see the floor.

Considering all the injury (and now cancer) issues with Nene, he's just as big a gamble as Wright...And waaaaaaaay more expensive.

Yea, he's proven to be decent. So what if he's bigger? It doesn't make him a good defender. We're better off with young inexpensive players with high upside than guys who are injury prone, have a big deal, and little to no upside left.

I would love to get B.W. out of the deal as well. However, we would all have to be patient with the potential new front court. Hawes and B.W. are only 19 and 20 years old at this point. They could easily be 2-3 years away from steady time. I am pretty sure that Mikki and Brad would spend the rest of their time here playing in front of these two youngsters and I am cool with that given that they are both very young.

Bucher may be about a quarter step up for Peter Vecsey...just the other day he had a video up at ESPN.com stating how "preposterous" a Shaq to phoenix rumor was "ACCORDING TO HIS SOURCES", a couple hours later after ESPN had learned from REAL sources that their was traction behind the deal, the video was pulled off the website.

Ric Bucher = IDIOT.

At this point, I HIGHLY doubt the Kings move Ron to a Divisional rival. Now, to NY, Miami or another team out East, that I see as much more likely.

Initially I would have agreed with you but the craziness of trades that are happening out west has me rethinking that. Guys like Artest and Bibby will not be traded to rebuilding teams which are mostly in the east (I would say scratch Miami and NY off the list at this point). These players are best suited to be traded to contending teams to move them up to the next level and with the flurry of trades right now this could actually put the Kings in a nice position as teams try to one up each other.

Golden State would actually be a good fit for Artest with their style and the fact they have players who know Artest and are used to his antics. Right now they have no shot against Phoenix, LA, San Antonio, or Utah...adding Artest could change that.

Getting Brandon Wright would be an absolute steal as he has Chris Bosh like potential and they have no room for him right now. The Kings however are a solid PF away from being a consistent playoff team.

If GS hung Brandan Wright and a couple of expiring deals out there for Artest I think Petrie would do it. Artest will opt out next year and will probably end up back East to be closer to his family.

Guys, GS just gave up the face of the franchise for that Wright kid a few months ago, and now they're going to trade him... for a short-term rental of a crazy person? Not gonna happen. Mullin isn't that dumb.

Patrick O'Bryant, maybe. But he sucks. And he's at best three yrs away from being a decent backup.
