George Karl Introductory Press Conference live stream at 2

Whoah, whoah, whoah, there. I find those who wear bow ties to be among the most educated, handsome, and generally awesome people on this planet.

That, and bow ties are cool.

At least now we know what Professor Spike wears to work:

Vivek talking to CD and Deuce right now.
Paraphrasing, he loves the kings fans "passion". He dealt with warriors fans "passion" when he was chairman of the warriors and he had to do something that was unpopular.
He's taking 1 step back to take 2 steps forward. Talking about how things are done in Silicon Valley and that the fans will eventually see where his vision is taking us.

Thank god deuce is there cause Dave is just schoozing vivek.
Sounds arrogant. Its very clear that the front office made a mistake, and all they are doing right now is damage control. Regardless of future successes, those successes won't be because of the Malone firing; it will be successes despite that. If he's saying this stuff to keep fans' faith in the front office, it would actually be more effective to admit that he made a mistake... or, in PDA's passive voice, "Mistakes were made," suggesting no agency :p

I don't know how you do it. I'd never the the expression "caping up" let alone know what it might mean. You young people have all the advantages. Now, please excuse me, I have to cape up.

It makes it easier to get to your seat. ;)

He came off to me like he was blaming everyone but himself. Basically he had PDA as the fall guy during the entire interview. "Well I always wanted coach Karl all along, but Pete said to give Ty a chance". Hmm, seems to go against the reports that he was in Mullins ear trying to get him to take the job. I don't believe a word that comes out if he or PDAs mouth

It's great that we have HOF coach at the helm for the first time since Rick Adelman but it will be interesting to see if he can connect with these guys (specifically Cousins and Gay) in the same manner that coach Malone did and whether the whole team buys in they way they did with coach Malone.

I am sure we will be better than under Corbin BUT this also has the possibility to go pear shaped if for some reason Cousins and coach Karl clash. I think they will be fine but there is no guarantees in basketball or life for that matter.

Let's wait a couple of seasons before we start deciding Karl's place on our "Best Coaches" list.
I'd say it's an incredibly fair prediction to say our top two coaches are going to be Rick and Karl. There's no other competition for Karl other than Rick as most of our coaches have been that bad.

Whether Karl has the success Rick had remains to be seen but I'd say there's hope this could be the beginning of a very promising era as we had under Rick.

But our "best coaches" list has Rick sitting there by himself. Finally some company.

Based on hear Karl speak and seeing him interact with media, fans, and the FO you can see he commands the room.

I liked what Karl had to say. Now HE has a plan. He's obviously been thinking about this team, its weaknesses and strengths, the way he is going to coach them, not just for the rest of this year, but how he will coach them NEXT year. He can speak at the abstract philosophical level, or at the detail level. It's a far, far cry from previous coaches of the Kings. He sure knows how to communicate and he has the basketball knowledge to communicate. One statement spoke to Karl's steely interior - if a player is frustrated and as a result not playing hard or the right way, he's going to be sitting on the bench.

My questions for the coach:

Is Cousins going to still partake in the point guard position on this team? Does that fit with your notions of "efficiency"?

How will you use the speed of Collison and McLemore to the maximum advantage of the team?

Gay isn't your typical slasher/3 point shooter. What is going to be asked of him in the offense?

The remainder of this season should be lots of fun, like watching a huge boulder being dropped into a small pond. Can't wait for Friday.

As regards the interview: I REALLY like this guy. It's his direction and plan that are going to be leading this franchise... that much is clear. After the flub that PDA just executed, essentially just trashing a whole season for no reason when 99% of fans could see that he should have hired Karl immediately, I'm thinking he's been put in his place as far as the whole "vision" part of his job. Now just go get players and manage the salary cap. Get the players Karl wants.

I listened to all the interviews and the presser. PDA said he made mistakes referring to himself being a rookie GM. Vivek said he made mistakes. So they manned up IMO. I'm not quite ready to let bygones be bygones, but this is a start:)

George Karl sounded like a breath of fresh air to this old NBA Fan. He is going to bring some intensity and accountability to the Kings gym floor. I look forward to the next 10 games especially and certainly the rest of the season. I suspect it is going to be fun.

Did Coach Karl already call out Rudy Gay?

I'm at work so I can't go back and listen to it but something stood out to me during the presser. One of the reporters brought up the fact that certain players seemed to have checked out already...

Karl's response was something like if guys don't want to play then we will find guys that do. He then followed up with "I don't think that's the case with Rudy." The reporter never brought up a specific name if I remember correctly. Maybe it's nothing. Found it sort of interesting nonetheless.

My only concern with Karl was the he's less interested in winning a championship and just trying to inch a few named up the all time wins list but from listening to him I don't think that's true. This was the only way that Pete and Vivek could have apologized for anything and have it mean anything since it would have been lip-service otherwise. I still don't trust them.

Does anyone know how I might listen to the Radio Interview with CD, Vivek and Karl from yesterday? Haven't been able to find it anywhere.

When is one of the "people smarter than (him)" finally going to work up the guts to tell Vivek that the shaka isn't cool if you're a fifty-year-old billionaire tech nerd?

How about if you're a 60 something year-old millionaire NBA coach?
