George Karl Introductory Press Conference live stream at 2

I honestly don't think our arena is ever really loud enough. "We have to produce the product for them to come back to us..." Exactly that. A lot of fans left when the Kings started losing. Hopefully Sleep Train and the new arena can be like Arco from the 2000s

Appears to be dampening down expectations. He did suggest that he thought that they could play .500 basketball from here on out.

Somebody actually asked a tough question of PDA!
And he really didn't answer it, although you've got to give him a little credit because he said he indicated that it didn't play out the way he thought it would and he highlighted that he is inexperienced.

What didn't make sense in his answer is that he and his staff thought that Karl would be the best candidate for the position in the offseason, so why didn't they hire him immediately. He's getting a follow-up now on this.

PDA: "I put Ty in an impossible situation" and "you have to acknowledge what you did was wrong." "At the time I didn't recognize that."

Seems like a reasonable, thoughtful answer considering the follow-up.

I think Karl is someone who could easily slip out a statement because he just talks with the flow. lol funny to see Pete tell Karl not to say any names about trade possibilities.

If you were at the 96 playoff game, there is nothing that properly describes it. All those bad years, everything was let go. Is my best basketball memory, just the fans before the game even started.

Somewhere in the beginning of the presser, he gave out a lot of names that he liked
I think those were names of people from his coaching tree. He said in this stage of his career he values coaching coaches.

He said that he wouldn't think about assembling a staff until the offseason, but for now would keep most of the current staff intact.

Karl was impressive. I like his answer to the last question when a reporter asked if he was going to have a sit down discussion with Cousins when he got back. He laughed and said, I'm going to have a lot of sit down discussions with Cousins. I''ll probably have 20 discussions with him in the next 20 days. He may not like a lot of them though. He said earlier in the presser that Gary Payton hated him when he was coaching him, but that now their best friends. I got the impression when talking about his staff, that basically he was going to see what he could glean from the current staff and see if he could mold them into the type of staff he wants. I don't think it was any kind of guarantee that any of them would survive past this season.

He said his main goal this season was to get the team reconnected and get them out of the basketball hell they've been going through. He implied that the most important basketball court is the practice court and that he couldn't wait to get the team on it and start working. He also let it be known, that he's going to be very demanding the rest of this year, and the first 7 or so practices will border on making the players hate him. He said he has his own ideas about how the team should play, and they'll find out that he's very stubborn about them. He sort of implied that he's open to ideas, but that there are certain things that aren't negotiable. I paraphrase of course.

He praised Cousins ability as a basketball player, and said that too many people are caught up in the idea that Cousins is a big 270 pound center. He said he looks at Cousins a a basketball player who might be the best passer on the team. He said that people want Cousins to be a Quote/Unquote, rim protector. But said that when Cousins is on the court, the team is a pretty good defensive team, and that when he's not on the court, the team is a pretty bad defensive team. He suspects that Cousins has something to do with that. He also talked about his last bout with cancer, and also about all the attention he got on Twitter and other social media outlets. All in all, he's a pretty impressive guy, who is also entertaining. I'm looking forward to our next game now. Something I wouldn't have said a couple of weeks ago.
