In terms of a trade? Technically, everybody's "available" at draft time.
If we trade for them, it's not up to them.

I think people believe Vivek to have a lot more input than he does. I don't think he really knows a whole lot about basketball and that's why he's swallowing everything Mullin and PDA feed him. The real question is when does he stop eating?
Realistically, how many of those players are out there?

I'm not sure if you are joking or not. It takes more than one player to play defense. Plus, I do not think there is a better player in college or NBA who can play great rotational defense. I want to build a defensive-minded team, or at least have 2-3 guys that can play solid D while the other 2-3 guys can be hidden in a good system.
The Kings have Boogie and Rudy who swallow shots. Also, you can safely assume that the organization sees Ben as a guy that should be getting a few shots. What better pick could there be for the Kings than a player who doesn't need shots and plays incredible defense from the 4 or 5 spot?
Maybe when he sees ticket sales or season renewals? I don't blame Vivek for anything..he's just the owner with little say in what to do with this franchise

There are more in the league right now than there are in the draft, let's put it that way.

Except the Kings signed Karl riiiiight before the season ticket deadline and used that positive energy to trick a bunch of disenfranchised fans into re-upping for another year.
Yep - 11 points allowed on jumpers, 14 terrible possessions, 17 poopoos not given on defense. Impressive.
Well, at least I still have Esparza/Jerdejczyk to look forward to tonight.

I think the only shot they've got is to trade Gay, as well as any other player they can with the exception of Cousins. Let's face it - they don't have much ammo to trade other than Gay. They can't just add one or two guys and expect this team is going to compete next year.

Its not just the roster. Its the who philosophy! Remember practically this same roster played some great D with Malone earlier in the season and since then has plummeted to by far the worst defensive team in the league and its been worse under Karl than Corbin that side of the ball.
That's worse than under Keith Smart's regime in the "relocation to Seattle" season! Think about that for a second!

Which is why first and foremost we need to focus on player development. We need appreciating assets.
I think free agent will be a key. Convince Rondo or Wesley Matthews to come here. Ben is a valuable asset. If we can get Russell or mudiay in this draft, we'll have another potential franchise player.

Agreed. But they just aren't going to appreciate much between now and the end of the season.

I wouldn't want rondo here even if we didn't overpay for him. This isn't rondo of 3 years ago.
The feeling is mutual; I have zero desire to bring him in.

Funny how two of the PG's associated most with the Kings on the trade front (Rondo and Jackson) have both looked like garbage in the same way that they would have or still would look like garbage here.
