[Game] Game 34: Sacramento Kings @ Detroit Pistons - 1/4/15 - 2:30 pst 5:30 est

Just in case you guys didn't notice they went back to the style Malone was running. This team just doesn't have the defensively able players to coast on defense for even a single possession.

too much Jennings...played like an all pro tonight. must be nice to play against the Kings, points galore.

Some of the worst pick and roll defense I've ever seen. They aren't even bothering to hedge out or anything. It's given open looks to any guard with the ball all night long.

I'm pretty sure Mike Malone's style didn't include playing Nik at SF in the fourth quarter while our best interior defender languished on the bench.

What best interior defender? This team was getting worked inside from the start of the 2nd on. The problem has been pick and roll an the Pistons went up when they went small and stretched the Kings out. This game has been mostly post up calls like under Malone. Cousins and Gay just didn't have it, or maybe didn't want it tonight.

This is just embarrassing and pathetic. What a joke. Someone needs to ask D'Allesandro if I can get a refund on my NBA League Pass. What a waste of money.

Bought it just so I could watch them from here in Virginia, now regretting that 125$ decision.

which is exactly why every team the Kings play against should pick and roll them to death because no body will help out their man, it's all man defense and if they get picked off...so be it.

Collison is a terrible defender.. you give up 14-21 shooting to Brandon Jennings..the guy who's shooting under .400 this season!!! It must be the Josh Smith affect too.

what a trainwreck this team is and a complete 180 this team did with Vivek's meddling and PDA/Mullin politics. Sad that we're slowly being sucked down to square one of the Maloof era.

He wasn't great tonight but pick and roll defense is a tandem and really a team wide defense. Guards aren't going to be able to fight over every screen. Now, if the design was to play well under every screen then that's a major issue and something Malone wouldn't have stood for, no way.

I don't know how many times I have to say it but once again Rudy Gay is not a winner. Actually I will go a step further and put it in bold, Rudy Gay is a loser.

Doesn't matter who the coach is or the turmoil around the team, this guy just doesn't care enough to be a winner. All he cares about is getting shots on offense whether he's open or not. At times he'll look to make a few passes but it never lasts and even then he doesn't look like he feels good about having to pass the ball. His defense is non-existent mostly because of non-existent effort on his part. He doesn't seem to actually care if his man scores or not and he doesn't give you any hustle or intangibles in the game.

Granted Cousins has been awful tonight and of late but Rudy has sucked for several weeks. There is a reason why Toronto became way better once they got rid of him. Malone and an engaged Cousins managed to make Rudy Gay into somewhat of a useful player but I think once again Rudy is showing his true colors. He's not a winner and his play on both ends is sucking the life out of the team.

I can't wait for our city's little chat with a certain weasel tomorrow.

I hope that everyone (in as classy and civil and intellegent way possible) chews him up and spits out a man who knows he blew it.

Collison was pretty good on offense and steals but needs to fight through picks better to defend guys shooting 3's.

Overall we were 42% on 75 attempts, that ain't' gonna win hardly any games.
Deteroit was 49% on 91 attempts.

Not to deflect blame, but when Cousins was out this teams defensive shortcomings were starting to get exposed as it was. Malone relied too much on help defense and mostly helped off of corner 3's. Teams have started to light the Kings up since then. Cousins being out had something to do with it but if Pete D'alessandro thinks this team is a finished product beyond everything else then he's crazy. It was a miracle Malone got this crop of non-defenders to play as well as they did.

I don't care that Malone was fired, it doesn't give the players an excuse to play like crap.

Everyone with the exception of JT, Ray, and D-Will played like CRAP.

There should be no excuses for playing terrible basketball right now. If you don't want to play your A game, you shouldn't be playing at all.

It's not good, but it's sort of an improvement. I don't know what you do about Jennings turning into Steph Curry out there.

Issue was some defensive lapses and the team losing focus at the end. Also, they dribbled themselves into bad spots on offense quite a lot, which lead to turnovers or bad shots, which lead to fast breaks the other way.

Cuz is really hurting us right now. I thought it was fatigue in the past, but his body language is off and his effort is lacking. That last 3 was given up because Rudy was having to guard his man and Cousins because Cuz was jogging up the court shaking his head.

Of all the things to pick on, I'm not going there with DMC. Dude pretty much killed himself to get back on the floor. Isn't in shape yet.

Well, maybe things are being said that I can't see, but it appears Corbin is just letting Rudy play and do the 1:1 thing. A strong coach could be calling plays and making sure players follow through, and if not, yanking them.

Change up your pick and roll defense, for craps sake switch if you have to. The more I think about it the call from Corbin was to let him shoot and it back fired. There is no way guards we're going that far under screens and bigs were playing that far back on the pick unless that was by design. Whoops to that.

Well, then, at least he's in good company; everybody on this team is a loser, from the top down.

True but some of them are still salvageable. You play with a selfish player enough that doesn't play defense, dribbles too much, takes terrible shots, and doesn't hustle eventually it starts to rub off.

Maybe if Casspi was healthy Corbin would have the guts to bench Rudy and some of the other selfish hacks that are not playing with max effort but I don't believe Corbin has the "authority" to even do that. Hence the reason they fired Malone......he might pull a Harbaugh and actually coach the team and demand excellence.

Hard to believe the front office would essentially endorse this style of play, I guess they got what they wanted. One step forward, and seven steps back tripping over a rock and falling down a well.

I cant wait for the massive amounts of BS Pete is gonna spew tomorrow! Ill bring a bucket, a shovel, scoop it all up and then sell it to congress! Whooo!!!

I kind of hope the tone goes from Malone to more about the makeup of this team and what he's going to do to bring in some more talent that fits with one another. This roster is still really bonkers. They have to pretty much destroy their identity to fit some of the players into the game plan.
