I have no idea. I just think Chriss is a better option than Papa and Skal if you cannot get Bledsoe or Knight. Chriss would have been perfect for us going into a new arena and having a local guy with projected talent.

Well, any average person could see how Chriss would be better than a project 7'3" guy that was supposed to go at the end of the first round

Meh. I'd rather have Papgiannis, Labissiere and Bogdanovic than Chriss.
Chriss wasn't a top 50 HS recruit and nobody had him as a 1st round pick until he shot up draft boards in the weeks leading up to the draft.
It's not like Chriss is a sure fire stud, he's a long term project too. He has a great physical profile, is very athletic and shot 35% from the college three with decent mechanics giving hope he can become a stretch four. But he was also an anemic rebounder, poor defender, turnover prone and picked up fouls at an alarming rate. He has a loooong way to go to be a productive NBA player.

Have you seen Skal play? I am fine taking him where we did, but he was terrible at UK. Hopefully that was just bad coaching from Calipari
Scouts have said that if Papa went to college, he would have been drafted in the lottery.

I hope that is right, but not enough Scouts as he was projected end of the Round. Regardless, I thought we were taking project picks so we could go all out in Free Agency and trades. So far FA has been below average. I hope we can get some trades done because the current roster has no shot of making the playoffs

Calipari has already said as much... Said he tried to force skal to play inside like towns and Davis and he regrets that in hindsight. Could just be lip service but probably some truth there.
There was talk that Papa could have been taken 16th. His stock went up on draft day I believe.

Chriss could turn out to be the worst player of the draft lol. You have no idea. For that matter, Papa could also turn out to be the best player of the draft. Nobody knows. You can't really judge the draft at this point.
Also, I wouldn't consider Vlade any average person, so I'll trust his judgment until he gives me a reason to not trust his scouting.
Labissiere and Richardson were two of my least favorite prospects in this draft (I wasn't high on Chriss either) but I was fine with where Vlade took them.
Per 40 or per 100 possessions Skal and Marquese had roughly similar stats which is interesting given that Chriss had pretty much free reign and played a big part in Washington's scheme while Labissiere was forced out of his comfort zone on a much deeper Kentucky team. The question with Skal isn't talent. It's drive and passion along with whether Calipari misused him, and if so, how much.
I wouldn't be willing to put money on Chriss, Papagiannis, Bogdanovic OR Labissiere becoming good or great NBA players but I'd rather have three cracks at it than one.
And even if two or all three Kings rookies don't become stars or even starters, if they can be bench role players they are going to be very cheap options vs established players that will make 5-10 times as much.

I understand that..Chriss could be terrible and Papa could be the best etc. but it is just like recruiting in college BBall. A five star player might not always be better than a three star, but probability says more than likely the five star will be better. Same w/ top ten pick vs. top 20 pick

Yeah I can get that reasoning. I'll hold though that I'm going to trust Vlade until he gives me a reason otherwise. I've been pretty happy with just about every move.
Also, what if Vlade feels that boogie has a high chance of leaving? Taking Papa could be a move that saves our ass if boogie leaves. Chriss wouldn't help us at all if we lose boogie.
I think I've spoken enough about the draft picks. I can't stand talking about picks when they've never even suited up for a game because nobody has any idea of how they'll turn out. It's like a waste of breath or in this case energy for typing lol.

Now the CBA says teams can pay between 80% - 120% of that slot figure but every team pretty much pays the upper figure so those guys will get 1.2 x the money listed above their first year.
Roughly speaking Chriss & Papagiannis will get around $100,000 more each of the next couple years and Skal will get around $50,000 annual raises in his rookie deal.

That's the thing. Labissiere literally was a five star recruit coming out of high school and Chriss was a two or three star recruit. He didn't crack the top 50 and the track record on guys who weren't top 50 and left for the NBA after one season isn't great.
Was Labissiere that overrated and Chriss that underrated? Or did Chriss become leaps and bounds better after one year? Or were they improperly and properly used by their coaches respectively? Or does Skal just not have feel and/or passion for the game?
I don't know. But a lot changed in one season. Hell, if Skal had gone the route of Jennings/Mudiay or Maker he likely would have been a top 10 pick. He definitely looked a lot better than Maker at the Nike Hoops Summit. At least to my eyes.
I was fully on board with Vlade's trades with Charlotte and Phoenix. I think accumulating draft picks/rookies is one of the smartest things a team can do right now. My picks were Baldwin, Luwawu and Zubac at those slots but that's not what the Kings did.
We'll see.

Both Chriss and Papa can be nobodies in NBA. However, at this point, we know:
1) Chriss was not really impressive in NCAA and was selected high based on his potential (good size, great athlete, has some skills already)
2) Papa held his own at a much stronger league playing against professional players versus future engineers, teachers and accountants and also has some solid potential (huge size, moves well for his size and can shoot already).
Again, both are not sure things at this point but at least I think there is a separation between them.
The Timberwolves grabbing Cole Aldrich for 3years/$22 million is a great signing. Aldrich provides most of what Koufos does and to get him for less than KK in this offseason is a shrewd move.
