For all you Grant & Jerry haters. :-)

Now I definitely agree that Grant & Jerry are homers, but I'm watching Lakers vs Portland now and I'd have to say Portland's announcer's are far worse. Not that it really bothers me since I'm rooting for Portland, but still, it is pretty blatant.

I think most local announcing teams are that way though. And really, G&J are far from the worst of the bunch.

I like them very much as play-by-play/color guys announcing games. Always have.

I just hate Grant as a radio talk show host. Always have. With his brownnosing chucklehead Ed McMahon wannabe Mike Lamb on the team, he is even worse.

Horrific call on Patterson though. Dunno how they miss those. We'll see if it ends up being a factor...

I disagree. I have League Pass, and I watched that LAL/POR game; Napear and Reynolds are worse. In fact, they're intolerable.

Of course, to be fair, I'm probably a little different from most people in that respect: most people around here seem to tolerate homerism from their favorite team's announcers, but hate it from other team's announcers, whereas I'm the other way around.

Actually, I don't mind homerism, I hate the boring ones. I like Grant and Jerry because they have some excitement to their broadcasts, and I probably identify a bit with Jerry's "hick" nature at times. I cannot stand to listen to some announcers who drone on and on or who cannot get excited when the other team makes good plays too (extreme homerism, if you will). Exciting plays are exciting plays and I want to feel the electricity in the air as best I can. Grant and Jerry can be homers, but they are good homers in my book.

Oh boy. you guys have never heard the Lakers announcers, have you? I mean, I've never heard Grant and Jerry but the KCAL Lakers announcers...

I had NBA League Pass for a season. That's when i realized Grant and Jerry are really not so bad. While all announcers are "homers," I found G&J to be less so than many others. And they are willing to compliment good plays by the other team and they do point out when a ref's call in favor of the King's is a bad call. (As I said somewhere else, I thought Boston's were the absolute worst.)

You mean Lantz and Sunderland?

Sunderland wasn't resigned for this season, it's Joel Meyers now (previously from the radio broadcasts).

And yes, Boston is by far the worst.

personally, i dont like grant and jerry. i hate how they go crazy if a ref misses a call *in their opinion* but laugh when the refs miss a call in the kings favor. jerry reynolds is less annoying than grant tho. i just cant stand grant napear. i also dislike tom tolbert. marv albert is my personal fave....
RIP Chick Hearn

That's what I thought, though I couldn't remember his name. I have not had the displeasure of hearing either one since Chick was still calling the games when I moved up here. I can't imagine Stu with someone other than Chick. No more "Chick 'N Stu." :(

marv albert is the bomb...

"Yes!"

"From downtown.."

"It counts and the foul."

"Rejected by..."

"He Scores!"

"Serves up the facial"

"Let's see that again!"

Need i say more?

Everybody has their likes and dislikes.

Im one of those who never understood how anybody could tolerate Chick Hearn. He really got on my nerves.

Marv Albert I've never liked either.

Stu Lance and Tommy Heignsohn are dreadful. As was Calvin Murphy

I've heard pretty much every team's announcers and mostly all of them are homers. But I think if that's their team that they work for, then they have a right to be homers. You always like to hear your announcers favor your team anyways, right?

Lol...you can almost hear him saying them.

Grant and Jerry are perfectly fine game announcers. They do fine.

(although Gary Gerould (spelling?) kicks both of their asses up and down the street, I think HE is GREAT.)

but Grant Napear is one of the worst interviewers and/or radio hosts I have ever heard.

yeah those portland guys are horrible!! i remember listening to them when the blazers were playing in arco last year and someone from the blazers hit a three and only two points were given (it was corrected in a matter of seconds) and the announcers said "hey what kind of cheaters do we got here." he wasn't kidding!! it was hilarious. they actually thought sac was trying to cheat them out of points!!

stu lance drives me nuts.

I hate how before going to commercial, he always has some lame quote where he speaks for the players.

example: "kobe told lamar, give me the rock, and I'll do the rest. Lamar says, you got it kobe, do your thing"

the guy needs something new.

Has he been fired since Friday? Because I could have sworn I heard him last week...

They had Steve Physioc (Angels announcer) filling in for Meyers against the Clippers this week.
