ditto to what y2k said pretty much

The roster, at this point in time, just isn't good. What will happen from this season could be very good though. I just hope people have a realistic understanding of things.

My goals for this season are:
1. To see promise and development from the young guys.
2. Lose a lot of games and get a high pick.

I am already seeing promise from the bigs, much sooner then I expected. And the losing is coming fast!

Bjax at centre, Shelden at point, Kevin can stay as that passing shooting guard Hawes at SF and why don't we trade for nate robinson at the PF spot. He's quick and can finish with his whoa dunks eh so he must be an awesome PF. QUICK LETS DO IT! Awesome idea.

dumb time has begun I see.

This team aint going nowhere this year, and it isnt Theus fault. We need to see Thompson and Hawes get big minutes, even if that means we lose 60 games. Then you hopefully get another nice number 1 pick, then we have big bucks to spend in free agency and hopefully land a major player(Like sixers did with Brand) and then, and only then will this team start being good again. I dont care who the coach is, it wont matter until a few years from now.

So please stop the Madness after game 3.

Yes its way too early to fire Reggie

But Reggie - Im sorry I just cant agree with you about your decision to continue giving minutes to Kenny Thomas

In the two games you put K9 in the Game , in a Combined 13 minutes
he has had -o- pts, and one rebound

Seemed like in both games we went from close scores to deficits when he went in

Please give those minites to Mikki,Jason,Spence even Oompa Loompa (My GF's nick name for Sheldon Williams)

Once Brad is back and we have the obvious 4 players at the 4 and 5
Oompa and K9 had better not see any minutes other than Garbage Time
And an injury slows one of the 4, then Oompa should be the insurance 11-12th player

As for John and Kevins back up - I guess I understand using Douby instead of Green based upon Reggie's saying Donte is so inconsistant in practice and pre-season. Yes Donte needs to learn defense but consistant offense will hopefully come with playing time. With Cisco out for two more weeks I think now is the time to play Donte, even if Douby may be better right now. Once Cisco is back, both Donte and Douby will have less minutes.

At Point I have the same complaint, We signed Bobby Brown for 3 yrs for a reason. But I guess I understand the "inconsistant" label arguement here better. While BJ's shot has been inconsistant he still runs the point better than Brown. As long as Reggie does not give up on Brown and works him into the Backup slot over the first half of the season I guess I can live with that. Yes I still love Bobby J, but I dont want Brown to rot on the Bench either.

So there is my beefs with reggie so far

Its rebuilding time Reggie

Start playing ALL the kids, as much as you can

Theus has the potential to be a good coach. But, if coaches were forced to be re-assigned and drafted by all NBA teams, Theus would probably be picked in the 2nd round, if you get what im saying. There are assistant coaches and out of work NBA coaches that have higher "stocks" than theus does.

I don't ever remember suggesting small ball. Spencer at the three and martin learning a new ability isn't too much to ask. If it works, as a coach, one would be hearalded as the second coming of Don Nelson. But that doesn't constitute small ball. It just means spencer gets more playing time, and martin leaves his comfort zone. If we allow this, Spencer would trump Salmons my a small margin on the depth chart, untill he proves otherwise.

I don't like theus because he has assistants for days and he can't teach offence if his life depended on it.

He can't teach or his squad can't learn? Also back to your Hawes at SF thing which I simply cannot stop thinking about, you really want Hawes to guard the likes of Lebron James, Paul Pierce, Carmelo, Vince etc? Or is that because Lebron is playing centre now as you suggested so that leaves Hawes to guard Daniel Gibson or something when we play the cavs...

In fairness to Reggie one of the games he gave minutes to KT was when Thompson was visibly gassed, Greene was in street clothes, and Moore had 4 fouls in the 3rd. What other option did he have? We do have the 6'1 PF back so maybe move him to PF..

The other game we did have Greene.

even if we did get that accumulation of talent, it won't do us any good if we don't have good team chemistry and hard workers...

I can stand us trying hard but failing but not trying is a different thing..

What's up with the Reggie hate?

YOU ROCK REGGIE THEUS!
It was a spin-off from a comment I made in the Heat game discussion thread. A few posters were really upset with the game - and by extension, Reggie - and I made the comment that it wouldn't be long before someone started a "Fire Reggie Theus" thread. I forgot that sometimes dripping sarcasm doesn't translate very well on the Internet...

But might as well keep the thread around... That way we won't have to wonder when it'll be brought up.

;)

Don't encourage him -- that's probably the last thing he says to himself in the mirror every morning.
And the first, I would guess. ;) Might even twist the car rear-view mirror at stoplights and practice a few times on the drive in to work as well. :p

110% percent both. "When i was on the kings, i got 20 and 10 every knight, COME ON GUYS!" - Reggie Theus to all kings players.
You struck on one of my pet peeves. There is only a 100% of anything. My other pet peeve is the use of the non word " irregardless ". Ahh! I feel better now.

Really? I could care less. ;) Moving on.

Rebuilding is ugly. U - G - L - Y. There are times when the team will look overmatched in all aspects. You're starting rookies, and vets that aren't really part of the future. Even if they play hard, they will still be overmatched.

When the talent level is comparable, or not in as extreme in deficit (like tonight vs. Sixers), you should see a "better played game," where losses mount due to youth and inexperience, but they'll at least look better.

What we should do is focus on the toss-ups - if there can be such a term. I will judge Reggie on what he shows me against the bottom half of the league. I'm not going to get worked up when we are blown out by Phoenix or LA, but I believe we have a decided advantage against teams like OKC, Memphis and, um.... The Citadel and Athletes in Action.

Unless of course, we are the team that will ultimately hold the most ping pong balls in the spring...

Now I have said earlier that this thread is just silly so early, that we are not really supposed to win this year, and that as long as the thing does not turn into a debacle (either in the W/L column or via Reggie created drama antics) Reggie should make it to midseason. All of that said, I just took a look at our schedule for the first two months of the season...and there is actually debacle potential there. Brutal. By my guestimate we could stand at 10-22 .313 by the New Year. Even if we pull off an upset or two, winning .400 will be tough.

Oct 29 @ Minnesota L
Oct 31 @ Miami L
Nov 01 @ Orlando L
Nov 03 @ Philadelphia L
Nov 05 vs Memphis W
Nov 07 vs Minnesota W
Nov 09 vs Golden State W
Nov 11 vs Detroit L
Nov 12 @ LA Clippers W
Nov 14 vs Phoenix L
Nov 16 vs San Antonio L
Nov 18 @ Memphis W
Nov 19 @ New Orleans L
Nov 21 vs Portland L
Nov 23 @ LA Lakers L
Nov 24 @ Portland L
Nov 26 vs New Jersey W
Nov 28 @ Utah L
Nov 29 vs Dallas L
Dec 02 vs Utah L
Dec 06 vs Denver L
Dec 09 vs LA Lakers L
Dec 12 @ LA Lakers L
Dec 13 vs New York W
Dec 15 vs Minnesota W
Dec 16 @ Portland L
Dec 19 @ Houston L
Dec 20 @ New Orleans L
Dec 22 @ San Antonio L
Dec 26 vs Toronto L
Dec 28 vs Boston L
Dec 30 vs LA Clippers W

I bolded all the teams that should be +.500 this season.

That's 9-23. Assuming we get a couple of those tossup home gmaes aginst Portland, Toronto, or Denver, we're still talking 11-21? If we go crazy, win every game we are suppose to and pull an upset or two, we celebrate at 13-19? Holding things together will be a challenge for Reggie. Holding himself together and not fatally wounding his career by saying something dumb maybe an even bigger test.

Yea. i'll be that guy that starts it.
It is apparent this guy is the Herm Edwards of basketball. Has a young team and starts worthless veterans (Mikki), who arent as good as the young players and slows their progress. Does not know the right personel to play at all. He hasnt played Hawes and Thompson out there together as much as he should. I'd imagine that will change as the seaosn goes on, but then again I wouldnt be surprised if it didnt. LOL

this team sucks.... period, i love them and i will back them but they suck... would love to see them trade salmons and whomever for a huge expiring contract like marburys... this team has no direction, we should atleast have some capspace.... lets suck because no one wants to come here not because we are stuck with kenny thomas and mikki moore... and no money to improve the team.

I like Reggie a lot, but I have a serious problem with a number of aspects in his coaching schemes.

There's the hypocrisy of leaving Jason on the bench while Mikki continues to start, his experimental lineups (I hate seeing Beno and Bobby out there at the same time or seeing Thompson out there playing SF), and his refusal to play Donte for any meaningful amount of time.

I figure I can bet Spencer's time to drop to about 20 minutes a game when Miller gets back and JT's to really go down the toilet. If I'm right, I'm going to be pissed and want some changes.

I give him credit for not getting Kenny off the bench though!

I totally agree. Im fine with seeing this teams struggle in the win/loss column but if i see Jt go out n play 30-35 mins n is finishin with like 16 n 7, ill be pumped. I want to see this team grow and see progress each night. Spencer and JT both look like they are developing but when Miller gets back both of thier minutes r gonna be way down n things could get ugly between the fans n team management fast.

PLAY THE YOUNG GUYS...THEY ARE BETTER THAN THE VETS!!!!

I dunno...There's going to be a minute crunch for sure BUT...I'd think Moore's minutes would go down before JT's. Tonight, even though Mikki started he got like 18 minutes to Thompson's 30. Reggie aint stupid. Moore is going to start but get bencher minutes. Dude is getting outplayed in spades and has been seeing less and less floor time while JT is seeing more and more.

I'd say Hawes' minutes get hurt the most by Miller's return, which is why the ole midnight toker needs to get traded by the deadline. Hawes has shown that while he isnt bringing what Miller is bringing, he is making definate progress...Reason enough to ship Brad out in a month or two. It'll cost us W's but hey, so we end the season with 20 instead of 30 wins.

When both Garcia and Miller are back I'm hoping most of the minutes are lost by Salmons (who can split em with Cisco) and Moore (who can keep the bench toasty for superior players). Sheldon and Douby are probably going to get bumped back...But oh well. Sucks for their respective careers, not that they are going to have long ones anyways.

Don't panic guys. This slow start has happened the past few years, partly because of the schedule makers.

Last season started off with a 3 game road trip, Kings go 0-3,
In 06, the 3 game trip was 1-2.
In 05, the last year they made the playoffs, yet another 1-2 trip.
In 04, 0-3 trip.

I posted our Nov/Dec schedule and likely outcome last page. You should check it out. Our challenge is going to be keeping this from turning into a total rout. Any major injury to any starter except Mikki and there is almost no hope.

i wouldnt fire him yet... technically the guys are still trying to find an identity..
my arguement here is Jason really needs to start NOW over mikki... mikki should be our all out give it your all when he gets of the bench... like foul fodder.. the Landlard errr land lord Shelden should do the same

the first 10 games of the season is way overrated on who will make the playoffs or who will suck so stick with the cause :p
