Fire Petrie!

VF This thread is for the ones that thought we could get Dwight Howard, Lebron James and 2 1st round draft picks for Miller and Salmons. Just close it.

Er...what? I would have been happy with pure expirings over Noci/Gooden deal for Miller/Salmons. Definately disappointed (because Salmons is worth more, IMO), but I would have MUCH rather had that over what we got! No one was expecting to get a superstar/top 5 draft picks/etc for our trash...but we could have at LEAST not taken a TERRIBLE contract in the process!

Beno
Garcia
Noci

Looks like a great future for the Kings! :D

That's very shortsighted if you aren't including Hawes, Martin, Thompson, and Greene. You'd be very surprised to find a team without any dead weight. BTW....Garcia? He's a good part of this team.

Garcia is a good 6th man for this team, but no starter...same with Noci. With both of their contracts combined, it's basically paying for a very good starting SF.

And yes, every team has dead weight, but we now have THREE of the top 25 worst contracts in the NBA!

Really? I want proof of this. I'm not meaning to sound terse, but you should back up a statement like that. If you're angry with the deals made, that's fine, but considering the Knicks have the other 22 "worst contracts", I think we're OK.

And meanwhile...he listed Salmons in the top 16 "best" deals in the NBA (#14)!

Obviously these lists are not "officially" the worst contracts, but you either agree with him..or you don't.

When did anyone say anything about getting superstars in return?..

1 draft pick for our best player this season and a good contract was all I ask. Instead we get back pure ****.

Luckily, we didn't get what you asked for. Instead, we've got a bunch of expirings, held on to our draft picks AND didn't get anyone who will be a legitimate threat for the rest of this season to ruin our hold on last place. These are GOOD THINGS!

Amen to that.

He finally cleaned house...something we have been asking for quite a few years. Granted, he paid for his delequency (another bad contract, no talent in return), but at least something was done, I guess...

But let's see what Petrie can do this summer. The Kings have 2-4 roster spots to fill after our two first-round picks are signed, so things will happen one way or another. If he signs scrubs or overpays in FA again, yeah, then its probably his time...but at the very least, I trust he'll make a good decision in the upcoming draft.

Why do you keep bringing up that we "held on to our draft picks"? I don't think anyone here was thinking about trading our pick (unless it was for STAT, and that was only a few people). People just wanted to trade Salmons for FUTURE parts, such as prospects/picks...which we didn't do. I agree with the other trades, it was great that we didn't take any FUTURE salary... but apparently, even after we traded for Noci, we had a chance to get rid of him for even more cap savings in 2010+ and we didn't do it!

Kings grade for today: C

Kings grade for today if they wouldn't have traded for Noci: A+!

Unfortunately we still suck, lack the young talent (unless it significantly develops) to take us anywhere but back to the end of the playoff hunt, have no real tradeable assets, and have owners that are clearly uncomfortable spending cash right now so free agency is a big unknown. Besides that, really good things!
