Fire in Auburn

My thoughts and prayers are with the people in Auburn tonight as they wait to learn if their homes are safe. Reports indicate the fire is 50% contained with an outer perimeter established, but there are dozens of homes destroyed and a lot of spot fires burning within the perimeter.

There's an excellent information resource available for people to use to check on the fire, leave messages, etc.

Just saw on Yahoo that 2 firefighters were killed today while battling a blaze in northern LA county. Condolences to their families and may they rest in peace. :(

That's in a horrible area for a fire!

Over 30 homes already burned :(!

The worst is over...hopefully. The biggest loss of property came this afternoon when the winds were whipping through there at about 60 mph. People barely had time to grab their families and get out. With a perimeter established, they've stopped the forward progress of the fire and just have to worry now about broken gas lines and other hazards setting fire to homes that were not initially destroyed. The one good thing about nightfall is they'll be able to see the hot spots and get handcrews working on them. It's gonna be a very long night for the firefighters and support crews.

Drive by that area all the time. That is a sucktastic area for a fire to be blazing!

Hope my co-worker isn't affected. I would do almost anything for her, but going to work for her would get me dropped from a very important class. Work would just have to suffer.

My thought are with all of the people in Auburn that have been affected by the fire, especially those who've lost their homes. I hope the fire is completely out soon.

My respects, thoughts and prayers to the brave fire fighters who lost their lives and to theri loved ones. It's a terribly dangerous job and they do it for all of us.

Wow...terrible! When I first moved up here, I lived in Auburn. How sad for those people. Prayers go out to everyone affected.

Prayers also for the families down south...those that have lost their homes an the families of the firefighters that were lost. One of my friends from high school who has been a firefighter for over 25 years lost some guys that he works with. Very sad day.
