Fantasy basketball; how'd YOU make out?

Compared to last year, where I placed in all four Yahoo! leagues I was in, and won two of them, my payout was relatively disappointing this year: one championship, one second place (lost on a tiebreak :( ), and two third place (compared to last season: 1st x2, 2nd, 3rd). At least I kept my "3rd place or better" streak alive, I guess.

I'll post a detailed recap like I did last year after I've had some sleep... in the meantime, how'd you guys make out?

I went from 7th place in the middle of the season to just barely missing 1st place (Yahoo league). Ended up 2nd. This was my first year playing, and it turned out to be a lot of fun.

I lost the championship game 5-4 to Mad D and we were tied in 2 categories at the end. Fuggin' Shaq.

Fun season, I like how most participated for the entire season.

well, I won all the consolation brackets I was in :D in both the KingsFans league and a Yahoo public league. I missed out of the playoffs in the public league by ONE game!

I also placed second in a Yahoo roto league. I'm proud of that one, I had fallen to 7th after leading for a couple weeks, then I stayed in 4th place for 2 months and made a final push. The winner beat me by one point, grrrrrrr.

Not too bad, considering I've never done it before and was messing around a lot. I know I'll do better next season.

My team ended up chocking during the championship week so I ended up finished 2nd place in a head to head private league.

By the way my team had only lost twice during the season.

As you read, in both Kingfans leagues I won the championship.

7 over 2 against JSin who was 5-4 with me all week.

5 over 4 over Nebs who came back from being down 8-2 all week.

No offense to CaminoChaos, but since my thread was already here first, and I was going to post this kind of information anyway, I'll just answer your questions here:

League #19128
League Name: KingsFans Fantasy
Team Name: Word On The Street
Type: Daily, head-to-head
Commissioner: MI Kings Fan (bigdog5142)

Regular season result: 146-80-5 (3 of 16, 10 GB)
Playoffs result: 3rd Place (6-5, over Bibby_Is_Clutch)

MVP of your team: Tyson Chandler. He didn't have "All-NBA" numbers, but he was my most reliable player down the stretch, bar none.
Best Trade: None
Worst trade: n/a
Best Waiver Pickup(diamond in the rough): Brevin Knight
Best draft pick(sleeper in late round): Tyson Chandler. A fifth-round draft pick shouldn't really count as a sleeper, but only my top sixth picks lasted the whole way through; all the rest rotated in and out all season long.
Worst Draft Pick(bust in early round): Jamaal Magliore. He was the best center available when I took him in the fourth round, and he promptly went on to miss fifty-nine games.
Injury that killed you at the end: Andrei Kirilenko, Jamaal F. Magloire. None of my other key players were injured for any length of time, but those two were plenty!
Top 3 fantasy players: Gilbert Arenas, Tyson Chandler, Brevin Knight
Best Fantasy Rookie: I don't draft rookies.

Remarks: I won this league last year, so I was a little disappointed to fail to make the finals... I felt that I'd done a great job of building my team around Kirilenko, surrounding him with just enough specialists to compliment his "do everything" skills; without him and Magloire, I came up short in the semifinals against nebs' Tizzy Flippers, but came back from being down 3-8 on the last day of play to beat Bibby_Is_Clutch (who beat me in our only regular season meeting... and talked trash about it, if I recall) 6-5.

I was going to report the status of all four of my leagues in one post, but on the off chance that someone only wanted to comment on one of them, I'll be posting them each individually:

League #34782
League Name: Bleacher Mob
Team Name: Visigoths
Type: Daily, head-to-head, private
Commissioner: Kingsgurl

Regular season result: 119-70-0 (2 of 14, 0.5 GB)
Playoffs result: 1st place (5-4, over oray's kings)

MVP of your team: Brevin Knight; I had a massive collection of All-Star talent, but I have no chance to win without Knight.
Best Trade: Zach Randolph and Rafer Alston to Bouncing Lightforms for Elton Brand.
Worst trade: n/a
Best Waiver Pickup(diamond in the rough): Jermaine O'Neal; the Brawl in Detroit turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me in this league.
Best draft pick(sleeper in late round): Brevin Knight. Not only did I take him in the fourteenth round, I took him with the second-to-last pick in the entire draft. He went on to average ten points and two steals to go along with nine assists per game on the season, which was merely good enough for second in the league.
Worst Draft Pick(bust in early round): James Posey (fifth round); started off the season injured, and never once approached the level he played at last season.
Injury that killed you at the end: n/a
Top 3 fantasy players: Shawn Marion, Ray Allen, Brevin Knight
Best Fantasy Rookie: I don't draft rookies.

Remarks: Most talented team I've ever had, bar none. And everything fit together perfectly; all my players complimented each other just right. Thought I was going to be upset by oray's kings in the Finals, who led through the first nine days of the matchup, but thanks to my MVP Brevin Knight (who had more assists by himself than oray's entire team on the last night of play), I was able to come back to win 5-4.

How'd I make out? Well, let's just say I am in the lottery for next year's draft picks.

;)

Congrats, Slim! I didn't know the Visigoths had won! I haven't been to the fantasy sites in a long time. Kind of lost interest when my top PF was traded to the Sixers.

:(

Man, do I hate when my internet connection goes out!

League #14466
League Name: Yahoo Winner 14466
Team Name: Wild and Dangerous
Type: Daily, head-to-head, public (winner's league)
Commissioner: n/a

Regular season result: 102-83-4 (4 of 16, 18.5 GB)
Playoffs result: 2nd (4-4, to Oakland County Cats, tiebreaker)

MVP of your team: Vince Carter
Best Trade: Jermaine O'Neal and Kirk Hinrich to Triple Threat for Vince Carter and Antawn Jamison
Worst trade: n/a
Best Waiver Pickup(diamond in the rough): Brevin Knight
Best draft pick(sleeper in late round): Luke Ridnour (thirteenth round)
Worst Draft Pick(bust in early round): James Posey (see my last post)
Injury that killed you at the end: Take your pick! Brad Miller, Donyell Marshall, Antawn Jamison, Bobby Jackson... I'm surprised I even made the playoffs!
Top 3 fantasy players: Vince Carter, Antawn Jamison, Brevin Knight
Best Fantasy Rookie: I don't draft rookies.

Remarks: After winning a public league last season, I earned the right to participate in a Winner's league. It was a very competitive league, and I barely gutted out wins every week... I ended up snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, and lost on a tiebreaker.

NOTE: I actually had more written here, but bad luck has led to my internet connection going down the last three times I tried to post this, and I just got sick of trying to remember what I wrote each time.

League #115751
League Name: True NBA Fans
Team Name: Brain Hemhorrage
Type: Daily, head-to-head, private
Commissioner: Kingdom Come (my best friend)

Regular season result: 95-94-0 (6 of 10, 22 GB)
Playoffs result: 3rd (6-3, over ColdCrushChuckers)

MVP of your team: Kevin Garnett
Best Trade: Chris Webber and Jamal Crawford to The Alfdogg Asylum for Kevin Garnett
Worst trade: Dirk Nowitzki, Baron Davis and Shareef Abdur-Rahim to The Alfdogg Asylum for Brad Miller and Jim Jackson (NOTE - I made this trade over a month before the Garnett trade, so I think I broke even in the end...)
Best Waiver Pickup(diamond in the rough): Brevin Knight
Best draft pick(sleeper in late round): Tayshaun Prince (eleventh round); you know you're in a shallow league when you can still get a quality guy like Prince in the 11th round...
Worst Draft Pick(bust in early round): Jason Williams (seventh round); just a down year for J-Will... perhaps the worst season of his career statistically; definitely his worst since being traded to Memphis.
Injury that killed you at the end: Tim Duncan, Brad Miller, Antoine Walker.
Top 3 fantasy players: Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Antoine Walker
Best Fantasy Rookie: I don't draft rookies.

Remarks: Injuries, injuries, injuries, trades, and injuries! I went into this league with the goal of doing one thing I'd never done before: I wanted to finish the season with a roster that was entirely different from the roster I started with, and still make the playoffs. Although I only finished in sixth, I had a "playoff roster" to beat the band; anyone in that league would tell you that I was a prohibitive favorite to win the whole thing... so what happened? First Brad Miller got injured... and then Tim Duncan got injured... and the Jeff McInnis lost his starting job... and then Antoine Walker got injured. And the next thing you know, I went from a dark horse favorite to coming up short in the semifinals... and of course, the day after I got beaten in the semis, I got Duncan and Walker back, which made the "Bronze medal" match very anti-climactic... Still, this league was, once again, the most active and entertaining league I participated in; the traffic this league got was more than the other three I was in combined.

League #19128
League Name: KingsFans Fantasy
Team Name: Mad D Unit
Type: Daily, head-to-head
Commissioner: MI Kings Fan (bigdog5142)

Regular season result: 1st 157-71-3
Win%: 69%
Playoffs result: League Champion (5-4, over nebs' Tizzy Flipper)

MVP of your team: Brad Miller/Elton Brand
Best Trade:
Jason Williams and Mark Blount for Earl Watson and Raef Lafrentz from Kingsgurl. At the time Williams was getting equal minutes to Watson. While Blount was losing minutes to Al Jefferson and was later kicked out of the starting Boston lineup when they aquired Walker.
Worst trade: Al Harrington for Mark Blount. I needed a center bad at the time and I was hoping Blount would have monsterous games like he did the previous season. I later traded for a better center as mentioned above.
Best Waiver Pickup(diamond in the rough):
An injured Shareef Abdur-Rahim. Along with with rookies J.Childress, JR Smith, Andre Iguodala, and Jameer Nelson.
Best draft pick(sleeper in late round): Damon Jones with my last pick.
Worst Draft Pick(bust in early round): Doug Christe because of the Orlando trade.
Injury that killed you at the end: Brad Miller.
Top 3 fantasy players next year: Whoever is available, I always end up with an entirely different team than what I start with.
Best Fantasy Rookie next year: I never draft rookies.

#16
League #44320
League Name: KF Official League
Team Name: Mad D 12
Type: Head-to-Head

Regular season result: 3rd 107-78-4
Win%: 58%
Playoffs result: League Champion (7-2 over JSin not an easy task)

MVP of your team: McGrady
Best Trade: No trades done.
Worst trade: No trades done.
Best Waiver Pickup(diamond in the rough): Same rookies as mention in my previous post.
Best draft pick(sleeper in late round): Damon Jones again.
Worst Draft Pick(bust in early round): Webber was my 3 round pick, but I wouldn't really count him as a bust because of his play during the 1st half of the season.
Injury that killed you at the end: Minor sporadic Webber and Brevin Knight injuries.
Top 3 fantasy players next year: Whoever is available.
Best Fantasy Rookie next year: I never draft rookies.

Notes: I entered the draft late so my first round pick was auto drated. McGrady was selected and JSin selected Kirilenko right after me, who I intially was going to select. It was a blessing in disguise. McGrady played 78 games this year and Kirilenko was injured most of the year. I filled up on bigmen after that pick: Stoudamire, Bosh, and Webber.
