Despite no arena on the agenda, #FANS returned to Sacramento City Hall to once again educate the city council and citizens in attendance.

We spoke about our experience in Los Angeles with LA Live & Staples Center. Also discussed were the term sheet & a comparison of events in Sacramento, Los Angeles & San Jose.

This is a great plan for you guys to keep going and making these short quick and yes repetitive, educational presentations. Very, very effective for keeping momentum up, and I think most importantly, for educating the public. Your presentations become part of the public record, and can always be referred to in the future.

I think the number one key point is that of the funds. That they absolutely do not exist if the arena doesn't get built. That seems to be what the opposition is harping on, so I think the more that this is repeated (and yes, patiently explained in different ways for those who don't grasp the concept), the better. That's the biggest thing that people still don't get.

As always, great job.

Some pictures we took and shared at Sacramento City Hall earlier tonight...

I rode the Metro and this was the first thing I saw.

I was shocked to see the price of parking. Oakland and San Francisco is $30.

Shot of Staples Center.

It's probably 3:00pm and tip off is not until 7:30pm.

Again it's around 3:00pm and the game doesn't start for 4.5 more hours.

Same story, different picture.

Staples Center being built as the catalyst which would later help create all the businesses across the street three years later in 2002.

People are so afraid of the price to park. We still need to learn what the terms will be on that but this is encouraging.

Inside ESPN bar with #FANS from KF.com (everyone from our site are true #FANS)

The opposition said we need pools for the children but no idea on how to fund them. They do not want busy restaurants and sports bars which will help bring in more revenue to help pay for those pools.

I am LOVING that last pic.. I hope this was shared.. It would bring many people downtown, and the property out from the arena would skyrocket in value.

Nice job, guys! Ron completely stole my thunder for next meeting on pointing out the estimated attendance of 1.3M, not 3M as Councilmember McCarty claimed last week. Was Mr. Dangberg there? It would be nice to have him verify that number.

Dangberg was not there but McCarty was seen whispering to Shirey and Shirey nodded his head. We're thinking McCarty was asking if Ron was correct about his speech.

Thank you. We will continue to attend city council meetings and town hall meetings too.

I thought it was hilarious (and yet, sadly revealing) that one of the ambiguous protesters (Occupy, I think, but it is so hard to tell nowadays when they don't bathe and sound like they are on drugs all the time) spoke with the three of us after the meeting. She wouldn't stop to talk, just wanted to make her point and leave - she was just talking as she walked by and out the door.

She was berating us for wanting to improve Sacramento. She said that Sacramento "sucks", would never be San Diego (or any other city that draws in tourists apparently), and why would we want to build an arena in a city that sucks. She asked how long we have lived here. Mike, Justin and I all laughed at her and told her that was the problem, she didn't actually want to improve anything and just complain. I told her I was born in Sacramento and love it here. She just couldn't get that people actually like living here and want to improve the city for the benefit of all. Maybe there is some material here for the next CC meeting? Hmmmm.

Correct. When I said that, he really perked up his head and immediately spoke with Shirey. I think Shirey said "yes" or something similar. I didn't have my glasses on so I could read my notes a little easier (I'm a bit nearsighted), so the details that far away can get a little fuzzy. ;)

On a side note, There was a pretty lighthearted moment at the beginning of the meeting when Ashby and the villiage idiot (I'll let you guess which council memener that is) gave Shirey a t-shirt with the Airplane movie stylized logo plane on the front and a humorous take on the famous line "I am serious... and don't call me Shirley." regarding the habit of speakers mispronouncing his name. He said his dad would just tell them to "Get the L out." when someone did that to him. ;)

Fabulous job! Absolutely fantastic depiction by Dave Garcia of a possible great downtown in our very own Sacramento. Gets me excited again.

I wish I could have joined you in LA. I certainly enjoyed my trip down last year to join the SoCal Kings fans.

Finally, I really feel terrible about missing in action and not adding my efforts right now. Things are going........I'm not sure where, right now. Not sure the treatment is really making a difference. It's also a drag to not be able to drive. Really the pits and feeling trapped in my house.
So its great to be able to come online and see the great work you all are doing. Guess we will all be waiting with bated breathe to see what happens in NY.
