Fan thought about trading Tyreke to get Knight? Trade between Kings & Jazz

Trading Tyreke just to move up in the draft just to grab Brandon Knight? You must be kidding me. Anyone else agree?

2011 NBA Trade Speculation: Jazz-Kings Deal in the Works?

Jazz-Kings Deal in the Works?
The 2011 NBA Draft is a short while away, and teams have begun bringing in prospects to evaluate their talent. Some players' draft stock has fallen dramatically, while others have risen substantially in the past few weeks; a trend that will occur up until that June 23 date in Newark, New Jersey when all is finally said and done.
Recently, Chad Ford (ESPN Analyst) posted a tweet revealing the Sacramento King's adoration of point guard Brandon Knight from Kentucky University. At 6'3" tall, Knight averaged just under 18 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds per game in his freshman season at KU.
Currently in the rotation at point guard for the Kings are Beno Udrih and Marcus Thornton. They are decent players, but the Kings need an all-star caliber point guard to lead the team, night in and night out. Enter Brandon Knight.
With the 7th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings can't realistically hope to select Brandon Knight. Knight is a near-consensus No. 3 overall pick to the Utah Jazz. In order for the Kings to grab their future point guard, a trade must be panned out before the draft day of June 23.
A trade involving the Utah Jazz and Sacramento Kings could look something like this:

Utah Receives:
Tyreke Evans, SG
7th Overall Pick

Sacramento Receives:
3rd Overall Pick
C.J. Miles, SG/SF
Raja Bell, SG

Another trade possibility could involve three teams. A Jazz-Kings-Blazers deal could look like this:

Utah Receives:
Tyreke Evans, SG
Marcus Thornton, PG/SG
7th Overall Pick

Sacramento Receives
Total votes: 12

3rd Overall Pick
Rudy Fernandez, PG/SG
Greg Oden, C/PF

Portland Receives:
Devin Harris, PG
C.J. Miles, SG/SF

*Breaking this trade down:
First, Utah sends Devin Harris and C.J. Miles to Portland.
Secondly, Portland sends Rudy Fernandez and Greg Oden to Sacramento.
The Kings, in turn, give Tyreke Evans and Marcus Thornton to Utah.
The Jazz then swap draft picks with the Kings. (3rd to Sac. and 7th to Utah.)

Are these trades realistic?
Will Brandon Knight be a Sacramento King next year?
Does Portland get in on the deal for Devin Harris?

You realize that just a fan wrote the article? The only thing it states that's remotely true is it does appear the Kings like Knight. The trades are laughable.

Exactly. But what makes him think that dream of a trade would even work. Just because we like Knight doesn't mean we gonna give away our franchise player for some unproven player. It's funny.

Wow. Remind me to never go on that site ever again. Not that I do right now, but man .. a whole bunch of idiots over there.
That article was written by a Jazz fan, all the Kings fans in the comments (--never mind, all fans in general) are saying 'no'. From what I understand Bleacher Report itself is like a message board but in article format.

Just wishful thinking from a Jazz fan suffering from post D-Will Depression. I could see a trade going down, but unless we are getting back serious talent AND the #3 i can't see this happening.

Do you think harris and the 3rd for reke would be a good deal? or perhaps harris, favors, and the 3rd for reke and the 7th?

It's not going to happen but it's kind of fun to throw trades around every now and then.

I've seen some really F'd trades in my day, but holy crapola, THESE ARE TERRIBLE!!!!!!

Whoever suggested these as being a) fair or b) realistic needs to find a new sport to follow, they are that bad.

The first trade proposal is head shakingly bad. But that second one is full of win. At least in terms of making me literally laugh out loud. Tyreke Evans, Marcus Thornton and the #7 pick for the 3rd pick, Rudy Fernandez and Greg Oden? Wow.

Exactly...I almost fell out of my chair. YEAH let's give away our entire promising backcourt for an unproven one.

Can we change the title of this thread to something a little less deceptive? This isn't a rumor. This is fan-written garbage.

I know this is just a dumb rumor but whoever came up with it is off their rocker. Bell and Miles have very little value and don't even factor into it. Basically the Jazz unload two middling role players, end up with Tyreke and still have a # 7 and # 12 pick. Kings give up one of their top two players just to move up 4 spots in the draft and get back no impact players in return. Trade the picks and Utah throws in a player that actually has value like Kirilenko or Favors AND their 12th pick and maybe it'd be interesting, otherwise it's highway robbery.

This team would look pretty good

Cousins - C
Knight - PG
Thornton - SG
Favors - PF
12th pick/free agent - SF

Earlier I talked about trading Reke and the 7th for Harris, Favors, and the 3rd. I think this could potentially be interesting.

And if we took my idea about trading for Corey Brewer (Brewer for Casspi, 35, and next years 2nd rounder) and sign a veteran SF like Battier for a few years. Our lineup could potentially look like this

PG - Harris, Udrih, Jeter
SG - Thornton, Garcia, Taylor
SF - Battier, Brewer, Greene
PF - Favors, Thompson, Jackson
C - Cousins, Kanter, Whiteside

Why would we trade for the 3rd pick to draft Kanter just to sit him behind last year's 3rd and 5th picks?

So what about the #3 and #12 for Evans? Maybe add Milsap. Who says no?

I like to draft the best player available
That's great and all but if we're trading a potential franchise player, you'd probably want to get a bit more out of the focal point of the trade than the fourth best big man on your team (hell, if we resign Sammy D, he'd be the fifth big man on the depth chart). If we did pull the trigger on that trade, it's most certainly for either a PG or a swingman.

As the mustercluck at the big positions taught us last year, you can have too much of a good thing. (Although to be fair, Landry wasn't that big of a big man)
