Everybody Needs To Calm Down (merged)

This may or may not be a bad move but at least let it play out. I think this must have been the best move out there considering Bonzi is the one who F'ed us. I applaud Geoff for not overpaying a 30 year old. Everybody at first was pleading with Geoff to do something and he finally does and this is the reaction. As much as we would all like to think we are GM and know what we are talking about, we are definitely not. The Kings are not done in my opinion, and if they are we still have a solid team that can compete for the playoffs.

Again, you are merely skimming the surface.

Its a four way ****:

1) no Bonzi
2) no Bonzi S&T for talent
3) overpriced Salomons
4) no money left over to pursue serious big man

Bonzi "****ing us" covers no more than #1.

could i see a link saying we signed him for the MLE because so far all i have seen is posters saying it. I have not seen facts yet.

You won't see facts. The Kings do not release actual salary info. I was told he was signed for less than the MLE.

Honestly, I do not have a strong opinion about this move. Although, I wonder what it is that made Colangelo and D'antoni and Petrie all think the guy was worth near the MLE?

And again, you're assuming there were other teams out there bargaining for Bonzi's services. What if there weren't? You can't do a sign and trade without someone/anyone being willing to trade...

thanks VF. I did see however that is was "speculated" he signed for the MLE thats it. Speculation doesn't go very far with me.

as the kids say, word.

In other news I will find a way to incorporate "four-way ****" into casual conversation.

I agree, BTW, with the first post in this thread. I can't believe how big some people are trying to make this...

Who is this serious big man who is left in free agency?

I hope they're not done, because just competing for the playoffs sounds like status quo and not much to look forward to IMO. That means we haven't made any progress as a team in 3 seasons if that's the case.

If this is rebuilding instead of reloading then some of our better players right now aren't gonna be in their primes by the time this team gets better (what 3-4 years down the road?).

I thought this team was a piece or 2 from being a legit contender, but now I don't think so.

Well he's not going to sign here for less then PHX was offering...and most likely Toronto...and that was near the full MLE for them...so...he signed for the MLE or a amount around the MLE...maybe a million, million and a half less each year.

Either way, if it's the full MLE or a number like VF is reporting...you can't get much of anything with what will be left over...because he obviously didn't sign for 2-3 a year.

2) no Bonzi S&T for talent

Is it possible that we (including me) over valued Bonzi based on his playoff performance? In terms of a S&T there apparently wasn't a team that wanted the guy at whatever his agent thought he was worth.

The only thing worse than letting him walk for nothing is taking on another teams crap(err flexible pieces).

Well i don't think any of us got to see much of Salmons as he plays in Philly. I did notice him putting up serveral games in pre season last year of 20+ pts now his stats are like 7.5 pts 3ast 3reb pg
Now by comparison Kevin Martin averaged 10pts 4reb and 1ast and we all want him to start very badly. So that being said why so down on Salmons. Martin averaged 1 more min and 2 more shots than did Salmons.

We jsut did. Only we did it via FA. You will note the incredible fight Philly put up to keep him. We have become their personal sewer.

I wouldn't expect Philly to do anything but what they did. After he reneged, they pulled their offer. Anything less would reflect bad on their reputation. They surely couldn't/wouldn't arrange another S&T or even resign him after that first fiasco. Nothing to note.

I'm not excited but time will tell.

1. We still have Ron
2. Theres still talent out there
3. You dont know what Salmons is be paid yet.
4. GP said they have money left today on 1140.

ITS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD.

theres still alot of time to make changes!

Yeah, lets let it play out. I'm sure signing a bum for the end of the bench and letting our best all-around player leave for NOTHING might actually work out. How could anyone possibly be mad at the continued bleeding of talent and dumping of salary when you're about to sign John Salmons to some of that Songaila Type Money?

Now that's what I call The Gold Standard.
