Everybody Needs To Calm Down (merged)

Yeah, lets let it play out. I'm sure signing a bum for the end of the bench and letting our best all-around player leave for NOTHING might actually work out. How could anyone possibly be mad at the continued bleeding of talent and dumping of salary when you're about to sign John Salmons to some of that Songaila Type Money?

Now that's what I call The Gold Standard.

Why automatically assume and draw the conclusion he's a "bum", when he's on a new slate, and in a new situation? How about waiting until February.

Not confirmed Salmons is getting the full MLE.

Ron's our best all-around player.

Calm down chap (based off reading a couple of your other posts in another thread), and don't hurt yourself punching a hole in something unecessarily.

This thread is hilarious. Until the Kings signed him, half of you guys in here would have royally scoffed at someone if they had suggested this move. What a joke. Let the Kool aide flow.

I would like to think people can at least be open-minded. I'm saddened by the reaction of some people around here.

:(

This may or may not be a bad move but at least let it play out. I think this must have been the best move out there considering Bonzi is the one who F'ed us. I applaud Geoff for not overpaying a 30 year old. Everybody at first was pleading with Geoff to do something and he finally does and this is the reaction. As much as we would all like to think we are GM and know what we are talking about, we are definitely not. The Kings are not done in my opinion, and if they are we still have a solid team that can compete for the playoffs.

Have we fallen so far already? Compete for the playoffs. Great. All that championship dreaming, Ron, Bonzi, and Mike having a love fest, KMart looking better by the day...everything was coming together and people really thought we could win it all. And Petrie, and the Maloofs, showed today they are content to tread water. Living in a perpetual state of "we're not done moving, this isn't the worst that could happen" just sucks. And that is the worst that could happen, because every time a good thing comes along a little part of my mind is going to know it will fall apart. This team, barring some insane trade, is years from getting back to contention. Years from another stroke of blind luck forcing us to trade Peja for Artest (a trade that all signs indicate Petrie was strongly against). This team has no direction whatsoever. So yeah, if going to the playoffs again and again and doing jack is good enoug for you, stay calm. I'll pass.

First off Bonzi was not our best player. Second, Sacramento did not just LET Bonzi go, We gave Bonzi a great deal, and he turned it down, he turned the Kings down. Third, once again, you have no clue what Salmons is being paid.

I think everyone was hoping for a big like Cato or Wright, most of us were in disbelief when we found out it was John Salmons. We really won't know how this turns out until the season starts. Hopefully, more trades will be coming that satisfy our most pressing needs.

Of course because you can read our minds and tell the future.

Oh by the way, is Petrie done yet? Is the season starting in a week? No? Then don't jump ship minutes before land is spotted.

I don't see how future deals can't involve defensive bigs now... we already have a ton of guards. Interior defense is the glaring hole left.

I think it's time you stepped out of the Everybody Needs to Calm Down thread and stick to the "Let's Overreact and Blame Petrie Thread."

whats funny is alot of ppl would have liked to see Matt Barnes as the 8th or 9th man because we saw him play and liked his hustle and ball handling. John Salmons is alot better than Matt Barnes and is getting better where Matt has stalled out. Sure the Contract may be a bit much but what can you do.

If they would have signed Matt Barnes to a multi year deal for most of the MLE I wouldn't have liked that either.

Dear God,

I found your Complex it is licated on Kingsfans.com. please come and get it back before it is overused

Whatever Salmons is getting, it's too much. He's the type of player that lottery teams sign to fill out the roster because they're either too cheap to sign real contributors or too bad to attract any.

Seriously, have you looked at the FA list? Who else is on there that even deserves to be playing in the NBA any more. The big men are has beens (Kelvin Cato) or Never was (Jamal Sampson)

My thoughts, for what they're worth. . .

1. We made Bonzi a legit and FAIR offer which HE rejected. I REALLY wanted him to stay, but not at the expense of over paying.

2. I am looking forward to seing Kevin start. We will soon find out if he is really ready. He did a good job last season when he started for Bonzi.

3. Petrie is not done yet.

4. I make it my policy to give each new player on our team a fresh start and expect great things from him. Give Salmons a chance. He deserves until he proves otherwise. I say WELCOME!!

5. I STILL BELIEVE IN THIS TEAM and am excited for this season.

6. See #1.

I think it is most people arent down on Salmons as there pissed to see Bonzi leaving and I mean the guy bottomline was hurt and is breaking down I would not have signed him for 35 mill over five years. I think though if Peja had not got his ridicoulus contract Bonzi would have taken that five year 35 mill deal from the kings but when he saw how much Peja got he said I need at least that much.

Somebody said before the draft that the first team that gets a player don't get the full beneifits. this was regarding Saer Sene. Salmons was drafted in the 1st round by the Championship contending Spurs. It didn't work out there or in Philly behind AI now we are the 3rd team and he has experience now and still has youth. The expectations are low of him now so i feel he will suprise all of us. I remember most of the same ppl reacting this way when we traded Bjax for Bonzi. the quotes went like this "this guy is a cancer" "he will complain all year" "this guy causes trouble everwhere he goes" Now he is praised. so lets not start bringing our foot towards our mouth again this time around give a chance.

My beef with this move is that it doesn't make the Kings any better and it also doesn't keep them where they were last season. It's a step backwards, a pretty big one in my eyes. Not like losing a franchise player, but Bonzi was important to this team and we're going from him to John Salmons. Imagine last season with Salmons instead of Bonzi.

Petrie better get on his Trading Horse and ride until that horse can't ride no more.

i really shouldn't be in this thread yet. while i agree with the premise of it, i am still thinking irrationally from my anger right now.

I really can't calm down right after this trade, just went to realgm to look at what the sixers are saying about Salmons coming to Sactown and most of it is not good.

http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?topic=549561

Then i went to the so called "Salmons Appreciation Tread" from what i saw there was little to no Appreciation, lol. The Tread Quickly became a joke.

http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?topic=549587

I am hopeing for the best but what i am hearing from the sixers fans worries me alot.
