ESPN rates Tyreke #2 in VSL behind Griffin

Sounds about right.

I'm pretty sure the rookie rankings through out the year are going to be Griffin at #1 and Evans at #2.

That seemed to be the case. Whatever the positional questions, Evans can clearly play and the step up in competition didn't seem to have any real effect on him.

It's probably not going to stop the arguments that people have against Evans being a PG or not being a PG but he did show he has all around skills. I don't think he showed much more than he did in college in regard to point guard skills but if you give Evans time to learn I feel he can develop skills enough to run an NBA team on a consistent basis.

To me it still had me wondering what position will he end up settling at in the NBA. He has proved that he can bring the ball up the court in college. I have seen enough of him to know that. Will Evans play a Dwane Wade type position in the NBA? Not quite the PG but not a traditional SG. What will happen to Martin now?

I will be definitely be watching Kings basketball. Although I am a Bulls fan because of Rose I will keep my eye on Evans. He is definitely an interesting player. Probably not going to end up playing PG in the long run, but it will be neat to find out how it all plays out.

At a legit 6'5" in shoes, he's a bit bigger than Wade, and has longer arms (also, at 19 years old, he could easily still grow an inch or two). I don't he's a player stuck between positions at all. And while Wade is clearly the best example of a super combo guard in the NBA, I think Tyreke represents a guy who is clearly big enough to play SG, but is going to be playing PG because he has some of the necessary skills and because that is the position of need for us currently. If it turns out that he can't play PG (though, I really don't see why not, unless the turnovers become a major issue during the regular season), then I suppose we move Martin and plug Evans in at the two. Either way, if it turns out that Tyreke really is the best player on our team, then no matter what position he plays, the ball is going to be in his hands, and the PG vs. SG thing will end up being just semantics.

I found an interesting discussion in a Pistons forum that you may be interested in:

Thanks, but CruzDude is talking about an even more recent article than that one. Not that I care so much about what Thorpe writes, but TDOS can make one long for even the smallest of tidbits. :p

Would I be out of line asking what "less scrupulous" forum you are talking about?
Nowhere specific, but there seems to be lots of forums that nobody bothers over what is posted, while here writers are threatening the site with copyright infringment within minutes.

Between the crazy trade proposals, the island drafts heating up, the longing for Wilt as a King, the "My Ike is better than your May" debates and the thread now dedicated to what a hoop is called... we know that the TDOS is in full effect. :p ;)

There is no discrepancy on the list of top 10 in summer league, between ESPN and what was posted at PASPN. The ESPN Insider article is the Thorne article that lists Evans at number two.

The PASPN link has the title "ESPN Insider Ranks Top 10 Rookies in Summer League," for some reason, but is actually written by a poster at a Pistons board. In his opinion, Harden was two and Evans three. The list there is his list, not Thorpe's list.
