Uh, Battier would be a great perimeter defender IMO. That's why he was so valuable to the rockets, sure he's a good guy but he made a huge impact with his defense.

I'd rather have an ***hole who's really good.

So, you're comfortable with Artest then?

Maybe we could build a whole team around that philosophy, you know, like the Trailblazers did. . .that should sail the arena deal right on through.

Good value at the 10 spot, although I think he actually has more athleticism than Artest. Artest has good straight-line speed and pretty quick hands, but his agility and jumping ability are sub-par in today's NBA. He makes up for it with strength and physical play.

I don't think Artest is fast at all. In fact, I think by NBA standards he might be a little below average in speed. What he does have is quickness, with his feet and with his hands. And of course he has strength.

Green is the type of baller that Petrie would pick at #20, not #10. Judging by Petrie's past habits, he either pick a need or the BPA when he had lottery picks. And Green is neither.

In fact, looking at the three top 11 lottery picks the Kings has had under Petrie, he has choosen guys who were fast and athletic (Brian Grant, Jason Williams, Tariq).

And stepping out further, of all the 1st round picks Petrie's made, four guys are not of the fast/athletic variety (Corliss, Peja, Hedo, Garcia). Corliss and Garcia were BPA while Peja and Hedo had size (both 6'10 SF).

Geoff picked only two tweeners as a Kings' GM (Douby, Williamson), and they were both BPA.

So in essense, the higher the pick, the more likely that Petrie choose athleticism and skill. And if athleticsm is off the table, Petrie goes for size and skill. Jeff Green is not particularily big or very athletic. The only way I see Petrie picking him is if Green is BPA, and I just don't think he is the 10th best player in this deep draft.

Garcia isn't athletic? I would have been fooled :)

Actually, that was one of his biggest knocks in the 05 draft and a big reason why he fell all the way to the 20s. I think he's a litte more athletic than adverstised but when I think of athletic, I think of K-Mart, Tyrus Thomas, GW, Warrick, etc. And Garcia just isn't up there. But if the comparison is Luke Walton then of course Garcia is very athletic. I guess imo, he is about average to slightly above average athletically speaking. ;)
