ESPN: King James Likes Sacramento

Suprised I haven't seen this around here. It may be farfetched, but it helped me feel a lot better this morning. :D

King James Likes Sacramento
"If there's a franchise, though, besides the Cavs that James favors -- despite what media in New York and Los Angeles have assumed eagerly in the past -- it just might be the Sacramento Kings, whom the Cavs face tonight. James and his family have become quite friendly with the owners of the Kings, Joe and Gavin Maloof. The relationship goes back two years to before James' rookie year, when he first met them." -- Akron Beacon-Journal

Bibby/Peja/Martin for LeBron anyone? ;)

Trade anyone/everyone to get THE KING . Lebron is one of those players that comes around so rarely .

Agreed.

Nobody we have could be spared from a trade that brings him here.

Imagine building a team around him. <drools>

I've mentioned this before, and my opinion has not changed -- I would trade the ENTIRE team to get LeBron, and throw in a water boy to be named later.

Bibby/Peja Martin? Sold.

Bibby/Peja/SAR/Martin? Sold.

Bibby/Peja/SAR/Miller/Martin? Sold.

Does not matter. If you get LeBron at 21 and aren't a serious championship contender by the time he's 25, regardless of what the rest of the roster looks like when you first acquire him, you're an idiot.

That said, there is a greater chance of Paris Hilton joining a nunnery than there is of LeBron James ending up in Sacto at this point. They've put together a winning team around him, and it is almost completely inconceivable that they would trade him for any player or combination oif players up until, and possibly even beyond, the trading deadline of his 5th year.

James not beckoning for royalty

Although friendly with Kings owners, he's eager to remain with Cavaliers

SACRAMENTO, CALIF. - Before this story begins, let's get this part out of the way so nothing can be misconstrued.

Lounging after practice Monday at Arco Arena, LeBron James again stated his long-term plans.

``I can't wait until I re-up next year,'' James said, referring to next August when he can sign a five-year contract extension with the Cavaliers. ``Then I can get the max.''

That sounds just as firm as his statements before the start of the season when he expressed his extreme support for the organization. Of course, oral assurances in Dec. 2005 aren't binding, but James continues to make his point loud and clear.

If there's a franchise, though, besides the Cavs that James favors -- despite what media in New York and Los Angeles have assumed eagerly in the past -- it just might be the Sacramento Kings, whom the Cavs face tonight to close their West Coast swing.

James and his family have become quite friendly with the owners of the Kings, Joe and Gavin Maloof. The relationship goes back two years to before James' rookie year, when he first met them. The Maloofs, who have a long history in the NBA, yet, hold the reputation as the most stylish of the new crop of young owners, treated James like he was a Kings player and not a member of the opposition.

``They've treated us very well,'' James said. ``You have to respect a class act like those two guys.''

The Maloofs were welcoming James when he shot his first Nike commercial in September before his rookie season at Arco Arena. Then, when James played his first game in the building, the Maloofs openly considered it as a honor and took care of James' every wish for the game.

Since, he and his family have been welcomed guests at Kings games and at the Palms hotel in Las Vegas, which the Maloof family owns. Last season, James' mother, Gloria, sat with the Maloofs in their courtside seats when the Cavs came to town.

``I'm happy to know them,'' James said. ``They're a good group of guys.''

They haven't extended him yet, have they? How about we get some more expiring contracts and wait? ;)

LBJ would be King of Kings. The marketing opportunities are limitless.

Anyone here above digitally changing the Name on the contract from Cavs to Kings when the GM isn't looking?

I know I'm not. :)

With the majority of the kings playing defense they way they are I am shocked every player hasn't been quoted as saying sacramento is their favorite franchise. Brad Miller makes average centers into all stars(jerome james, foyle, Kandi, prezbilla, Camby), well you can put any center against brad and it's going to be the same results. Mike Bibby should be a matador because other PG's run right past him. PEJA PEJA PEJA, at 6'10' he plays like he is 5'2". And by far the softest player in the league. That leaves the two new guys who have been solid so far but nothing spectacular. Although Bonzi is rebounding like a machine.

I can only agree with that....very well put Brick

Threads like this are just mean. Dangling James before this Kings fan makes me feel like Charlie Bucket with his face pressed up against the candy shope window. :(
