We tried to fix our SF Position for years until Rudy arrived. And he was available only because Toronto tried to use him as a Nr. 1 option and his contract was bad.
Now he is on a deal with fair value. He is our second best player and our backup is rather weak.
But DC is actually a solid PG. So why should we move our second best player, that plays a position where we have no substitute, for a player that's redundant to DC to a certain amount?
I really like Bledsoe, but in no way should we give up Gay in a trade. There are more decent PG's in the league, than decent SF's.
Yup, I wouldn't give up Gay that easily either. Bledsoe is good, but not great. Tyreke would've been the perfect 2nd PG on the floor.
Lesson for the Kings ownership, you NEVER give away your assets for peanuts. Even if you didn't think Tyreke was good enough a shooter, you resign him at that very reasonable salary of $11 mil per. If they did, they would have another asset to get someone they want right now. At this point, we have no real assets other than DMC, Gay or WCS.
Link?According to ESPN's Marc Stein the Kings and the Suns are close to a swap involving Eric Bledsoe, not sure who from Sac is heading to PHX. He has since removed his tweet so take it for what it is worth it.

That's a bad trade for the Suns.Gay for Bledsoe, Granger, and one of the Morris boys works on trade checker.
Bledsoe is a huge upgrade over Collison. Everything from his talents to his defense. Plus, he's younger. He can be a top 10 PG in the NBA. Collison is at his highest peak, while Bledsoe is in his prime.I do not think Bledsoe is that big of an upgrade over DC, but if that what it takes to make Big cuz happy then
DC, Nik and Landry for Bledsoe
Phoenix has Brandon and DC a very good 2 PG rotation, gets Nik and Carl to match up salary
Phoenix gets reasonable cost on DC, possible outside help by Nick, then they can stretch Landry if they need more cap in FA
We get an upgrade and Big cuz buddy, and we get our big three backed up by Ben and WCS
BIG NO to trading Gay
Hopefully it's another work of an agent to create buzz, and not real team intentions.Jeff Goodman @GoodmanESPN
Sacramento expressed interest in keeping unrestricted free agent Derrick Williams, sources told ESPN. First order for Kings: PG situation.
I don't really like the idea of sending Gay out to get Bledsoe. It's not like we've got much more in the way of options at SF and I'm not sure we can come close to replacing him on the FA market. On the other hand, if we could swing a deal of Ben and JT for Bledsoe (this would probably have to include a future pick) it could leave us looking very pretty, though we'd only have a couple of million dollars to work with under the salary cap.
Basically we'd be looking at:
Collison/McCallum/Stockton
Bledsoe/Stauskas
Gay
Cauley-Stein/Landry
Cousins/Moreland
Our frontline isn't great there in terms of depth, with Landry not a guy you want to play big minutes and Moreland completely untested (Cauley-Stein too, but I'm not worried about him). We can probably assume we'd see Omri coming back to pick up backup SF minutes as well as give time for Gay to slide over to PF to give minutes to the frontline. We could probably assume that we'd have a backcourt rotation of primarily Collison/Bledsoe/Stauskas with one of either Collison or Bledsoe on the floor at all times. Ray can give spot minutes. Stockton likely does not make the team but a guy like Corey Hawkins might be an interesting fifth guard. The only problem is that we don't have much money to try to pick up PF/C depth. But a starting five of DC/EB/RG/WCS/DMC would seem to be plenty to challenge for a playoff spot - the big question is the bench. Nik, Omri, Ray is pretty decent for guard/wing but unless Landry or Moreland or ?? can step up the frontline depth is probably poor enough to be the Achilles' Heel for that roster.
have to miami it. get guys on there last legOur depth in general. be like last year, only maybe worse. Nifty starting 5, at least if the rook pans out and Bledsoe stays healthy, but the bench would be league worst again
