Eddie Jordan Fired

am I the only one who could see kings bringing him in if/when they fire reggie?

Well, couple of things:

1) Jerry Reynolds would. He'd have a wet spot on the front of his pants.

2) However the Maloofs are all about defense. Nobody coaches less defense than Jordan

3) and add to that: we already fired him. Either Petrie himself, or Petrie along with the Maloofs. Firing Jordan was the move that opened the door for Adelman and the whole golden era.

4) so bottomline, despite the obvious connection to us and our style of play, the affection of some annoucners for him etc., there would be a lot working against rehiring him.

Did you see the Wizards' "defense" this year? It's based on stealing the basketball--if they can't strip their opponents, may as well as count it as a made shot for the opposition. Granted their best "defender" plays defense better with his words than with his game (DeShawn Stevenson), but the others are sheerly gamblers (Arenas, Butler etc). We don't need that for our team

At least their defense was based on something.
Am I right?

If the kings fire reggie,i think they will try eddie jordan..if im not mistaken i think the wizards are using the princeton offense...

I've watched Eddie Jordan lose several playoff games for the Wizards over the past couple years. This is less surprising than PJ Carlesimo getting axed.

I am pretty sure that was the previous ownerships decision. Apparently one that Petrie was very much so against at the time. I remember reading that he actually turned his back during the press conference at one point. Everything I remember hearing was that Petrie never wanted him gone.

Correct. It was Jim Thomas who wanted him gone. Which turned out to be a good move.

With Jordan available, Theus should watch his back. I think the Kings organization will be very interested in Jordan. I would be also. I think he'd be good for this team. His teams weren't good defensive teams, but his players aren't good defenders. Gil in the backcourt and Jamison in the front court, that won't lead to anything positive defensively.

Someone like Jordan would've been good for a veteran team like the Mavs, but they pulled out a year early.

I don't think Jordan would make our current team a better defensive unit, but it would still be move in the right direction.

I don't know that hiring a long time no defense coaching sub-.500 coach with a career record of 230-288 and career playoff record of 8-18 is exactly a step in the right direction. He's never proven he can get a team to be more than a 40 win club. He's an NBA coach, but also a guy you are probably going to want to fire in a couple of years.

I believe (with nothing to back it up) that if the Maloofs fire Reggie, it will be by the end of December. Then they will bring in someone they trust to evaluate players and coaching for the balance of the year. That may be why we are hearing John Whiznant's name being bantered about again this year. Then they will do a serious search for a new coach next year. :p

I'll believe it when I see it. If Muss gets another head coaching gig it would be out of complete desperation.

He's typing his power point presentation as we speak.
Rumor has it this one will blow the Wizards out of the stratosphere!!
;)

If they fire Reggie for a girl's basketball coach, I will be very disappointed. I don't see them hiring back Eddie Jordan either. I can see them going after a big name like Avery Johnson.

Probably just me, but the word Big connected to Avery Johnson, makes me smile.
