Dunk Contest Participants Announced

Well, I went to NBA.com and they had a poll saynig who is favored to win the dunk contest. these were the choices:

Amare
J.R. Smith
Josh Smith
Chris Anderson

Not great players but hey, they are dunkers. I think all of them are pretty decent except Chris. He wasn't very good last year.

i am favoring Amre to win it. What do u think?

Josh for sure.

And on the dunk contest, why only 4?

Why rising stars?

Where is the champ to try to retain his title?

The dunk contest needs to be more like it used to be. More contestants. THREE rounds. Big names.

I wonder if you HAVE watched last year's slam dunk contest. Not fair to say he wasn't very good there. In my opinion and some other sources (SLAM magazine), Chris got robbed blind by the judges. He should at least go to the second round.

It is Amare who doesn't impress me 2 years ago. No way he will win the dunk contest. His dunk has nothing but pure power.

Wanting to defend a title and being cleared by the doctor's and your team are 2 different things. He is out for the season with an injury. Risking complications just to defend a title is not wise...IMHO!

I have less than zero interest in the dunk contest, as I firmly believe all the original dunks were done a long time ago.

To be brutally honest, the stupid dunk contest has hurt the NBA much more than it has helped IMHO. Too many young players are coming up with the idea that if they can just do a monster dunk they've got it made. No matter that they can't do anything else - or that their entire attitude is one of "me, me, me!"

Blech...

Josh Smith will win it, JR Smith has a great chance as well. I saw his high school SDC and he did some amazing dunks, he got beat by some Candice Parker chick but she only did a regular one handed jam so it was bogus.

I remember seeing that on ESPN last season. :D

Josh Smith is usually on SportCenter highlights because of his dunks. He's very good at them. So he should do well in the Dunking Contest.
