Draft Day Trades and Why Sac Wasn't Involved.

Boston - Seattle

Ray Allen and rights to #35 for:
Delonte West, Wally Szczerbiak, Boston's No. 5 draft pick, Jeff Green, and a future second rounder.

Boston is looking for a veteran scorer to get that #5 pick. Closest we have to that is Kevin Martin. Neither Bibby or Artest are that scorer.

Portland - New York

Steve Francis and Channing Frye for:
Zach Randolph, Dan Dickau and Fred Jones

Portland deals away its malcontent and becomes the land of fun and games. They get back...Steve Francis and Channing Frye. That's what it takes to get rid of Zach Randolph. Since it doesn't involve draft picks or solid youth, I don't care.

Charlotte - Golden State

Brandan Wright for:
Jason Richardson and rights to No. 36 pick (Jermareo Davidson)

Petrie was looking to get the #8, but our current roster doesn't appeal to the Bobcats. Bibby? Nah, Brevin Knight fills a need. He's an old-school PG. They don't need scoring from that position. Ron Artest? Please, MJ doesn't want that kind of attitude on a young team. Did MJ do something that may be potentially stupid? Probably.

All in all, it looks like not much was to be had. There were some lopsided trades (see Boston), and owners with deeper pockets than the Maloofs (yes, they exist) buying extra picks. We'll see how free agency and Bibby not opting out changes the scope of things.

Actually I think they'd have taken Bibby and that he'd be a better fit for Boston. But would Bibby go there? Boston has sadly become what Sacramento used to be when it came to trades and free agents. Also getting rid of Wally was a key to this deal for the Celts and bringing him here would be pointless and expensive.

I would've done a Bibby/future 2nd rounder for Wally/West/#5(Brandon Wright).

The #5 at that point should have been Yi. However, I don't know that Bibby is as big a name as Ray Allen (or would be to Boston/Pierce), and that's the problem with the situation.

Well Bibby is a bit younger and while he doesn't shoot quite as well as Allen I think he's still a pretty good shooter and he does some other things pretty well too. I might have even offered Bibby + #10 for that package which seems a lot sweeter to me than Ray Allen alone, but what do I know. BTW I would have drafted Yi with that #5 I think.

Unfortunately, I just don't think teams are much interested in what the Kings have to offer, except maybe Martin.
