Clippers suspend unhappy Christie

Associated Press

LOS ANGELES -- Doug Christie, who signed a second 10-day contract with the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this month, was suspended by the team on Tuesday.

Christie informed the Clippers last weekend that he no longer wanted to play for them. He was contractually bound to Los Angeles through Tuesday night's game against Phoenix, after which he can sign with another team.

He averaged 2.2 points and 1.8 rebounds in six games for Los Angeles. He signed his second contract with them on Feb. 11.

Are you kidding me? Asking out of a 10-day contract?! Can't he just suck it up for a week without having to stir the pot?

Sounds to me like Doug can come to grips with the fact that he's not the same player. He's not being very effective, so he says he's unhappy with the team and wants to take his ball and go home.

I have news for Doug. No matter where he goes he won't be very effective. He was never a very effective offensive player, and he's not as quick as he used to be on defense.

It happens to everyone who plays professsional sports. He just has to accept it.

That's just beyond bizarre...

completely. I loved DC on the Kings and wish him the best, but this is just flat out weird, even for Doug. I mean, at the beginning of the 10 days it sounds good & you sign an extension, then, what, a few days later it is so horrible you can't get through the 5 or 10 days left??? I don't get it.

Thsi is the way its been ever since he left the Kings. As always, I suspect his wife's involvement. Doug himself is not a prima donna. Well...mostly not -- still recall him holding out as a rookie. But "the Christies" seem to both be really confused about what they want to do, and to think they are god's gift and the rules don't apply to them.
