GONE. However, and for whatever, GONE. As in, "I don't care how, Marvin K. Mooney, would you please go now" GONE. And if Greene can't cut it, then his *** should be GONE, too, but whatever you do, for the love of Og, don't sit him in favor of Ime F. Udoka!

Play him, trade him, or cut him.

Ummm, I would usually agree with that statement, but in this instance it appears to me that most of the young players are getting minutes. All except Greene of course. It may vary at times, and I assume that its because of matchups. For instance the other night he put in Brockman who then had to guard Josh Smith. Smith was way too quick for him and Brockman was jerked back out. All of Atlanta's forwards were very quick, so it made it hard to get someone like Brockman minutes.

Casspi is getting more minutes than I thought he would going into the season. But he's earned them. Mason was a veteran and he started. But in reality, he didn't play that many minutes.
Nocioni is an interesting case. He's certainly a veteran. He's 29, soon to be 30. And you could argue that he's taking minutes away from Greene. One could also argue that maybe thats a good thing. My attempt at humor. When Cisco comes back, Nocioni could become expendable. To be tradable he needs to have value and he won't get that sitting on the bench. And I do think you have to have at least a couple of players with experience on the team. Just my opinion..

That's all well, and to the good, and it's not my point. I don't want most of the kids to get minutes, I want ALL of the kids to get minutes.

To what end? We can get veterans to bolster the roster after we know what the kids are capable of. And, if you don't think that Greene deserves to be in the rotation, then ****ing cut him. You seem to be misunderstanding my position: I'm not pro-Greene so much as I'm pro-don't-sit-prospects-behind-journeymen-on-lottery-teams. And let me re-state that part: lottery team. We're not going anywhere. We're in the developmental stage of this rebuild... So develop the kids. Not just some of them. Not just most of them. All of them.

I wouldn't so much as bat an eyelash if they announce that Greene was waived before shootaround. At least then, this will all be over. I don't want him to play because I like Greene, I want to play because he's here, damn it. If he's not part of the future, then give him his walking papers and be done with it, but as long as he's here, he should ****ing play.
 
Donte pleasantly surprised me in the Jazz game. He played very well. On defense, he communicated with teammates on switch-offs, he effectively boxed-out, and stayed in front of his man. On offense, his head was in the game, he was focused, and was fundamentally sound. There was a tiny lapse where he wasn't paying attention when the ball was inbounded, but that's quibbling. I happily take back what said earlier about him. Obviously he has listened to Westphal, and is quickly playing up to his potential. I guess that's how it is with world class athletes - they can totally change your perception of them in one game.
 
Greene played very well in the Utah game. Looked liked he belonged in the NBA. Apparently, he is working very hard, and it looked like it, at least in this one game. Here's hoping to his continued improvement. I'd really like to see him be a factor in getting offensive rebounds and coming from the weak side to bother or block some shots. Then his value will go up significantly.
 
I've been pretty critical of Donte and not willing to cut him much slack so I think it's only fair to comment on what I saw last night...

The kid has obviously been working hard with someone. I give Donte credit for listening to what's being said and apparently taking it to heart. I give Westphal credit for whoever he assigned to Greene to get him back going in the proper direction. In fact, I give Westphal a lot of credit for not only Greene but, to go off-topic for a second, also for Kenny Thomas.

What we have is an ability to communicate among the coaches and between the coaching staff and the players and it's already paying dividends.
 
Nice game last night for Greene. For the first time he looked like he belonged on the floor and looked to be in the natural flow of the game. He was given a chance and he took full advantage of it. Kudo's to him. Hopefully this is a first step for him to find time in the rotation. The Kings could certainly use the size..:)

I wholeheartedly agree. I am soooo glad we finally have a real coach. It gives me a major warm and fuzzy knowing that he and is staff are working with our young guys to get better. If I'm the Maloofs, I'm already thinking about a contract extension....

Couldn't agree more. I think he knew the writing was on the wall and had to make attitude and playing changes or he was gone. And you don't want to be "gone" from the Kings. Next couple of home games will tell if this is the "new" Donte or merely an abberation. His 8 or 10 min vs. Jazz were his best since he's been here.
 
donte's looking really solid these last 2 nights, finally contributing, its something to get excited about really. Finally looking like fulfilling his potential - lets hope he keeps it up
