Dirk Calls out Dampier

Just caught the end of it on Sportcenter. Dirk said they were getting "nothing" from the center position in either series and that Dampier was always in foul trouble and not playing aggressive enough as a result. Damp fired back that they weren't getting much of anything from anyone and that for Dirk to say that was just "stupid". Any one else see this? I'm looking for the direct quotes so I can post them, if anyone else has them feel free. Anyway sounds like the Mavs have some serious problems as far as chemistry goes...
 
Wow! If you can confirm this, it does show problems in Mavsland....not that I am surprised....or sorry. :p
 
No you got it right. And there are no "problems" in Mavsland if anything I'm thankful Dirk has FINALLY SAID SOMETHING IN THE LOCKER ROOM. That job was always left to Mike Finley, the undisputed "locker room leader" and frankly, all of us in Dallas have been begging Dirk to take a more aggressive role in the locker room. That being said, this all stems from LOSING. Winning turns all of the bickering around.

I don't see this as a problem one bit. If Dampier is smart he'll use this as motivation. Which I'm thinking is the underlying reason for Dirk calling someone out.

As to what Dirk actually said: Dampier can't play aggressive b/c the refs screwed him everytime he merely breathed on Yao Ming. And who can really hang with Amare Stoudemire? Certainly not Damp. This is why I wanted DJ Benga activated on the playoff roster.
 
how can dirk say something like that about the best center in the west! LOL!
 
I saw it last night and was kinda surprised. The Chuckster agreed with Dirk. What is it with all these centers that think they're great???
 
yea I don't know why Dampier says he's the 2nd best center in the league. I know he's good but we need him to show some mobility out there and play Amare.
 
Dampier looked absolutely lost out there last night, he needs to be called out. It wasn't just the way he defended, you could see it on his face. It was like the game was beyond his comprehension. If he's not going to figure himself out soon, Avery is going to have to leave him on the bench and go with someone who'll do something.

That is what I was thinking. So, I was really surprised that he would dare call out someone else.
 
At least Dirk is playing solid defense throughout the playoffs!

If the shot is not falling down, there's not much you can do about that, but he is making up for it on the defensive end. He used to be a pretty weak defender, but that changed this year.
 
John Anderson said "The Mavs are going J-Lo", I thought that was hysterical. Avery pretty much summed it up by saying the way the whole team played was stupid. Awwwww poor mavs does anyone have a tissue?

damp wasn't even the 2nd best center out there the other night, let alone the 2nd best center in the league like he thinks he is.

I like how these days a teammate can call another one out for motivational purposes and said teammate responds by whining and calling the comment stupid. Remember when Larry Bird said his teammates were playing like sissies and they took it to heart?
 
Hahahahaha. How comical. I wish Dirk had a heavier German accent, though. "We ahn't getting n-ee tzing from da centah position." Maybe he just dislikes Dampier's French-sounding name. Either way, the Suns play the Mavericks game about ten times better than the Mavs do, and better than anyone has since us circa '02. San Antonio and Detroit are really the only two teams that I think have enough pieces offensively and defensively to beat Phoenix.
 
Wow I guess I was out of the loop, I didn't hear anything about this till right before the game tonight. My only reaction to this is... Yeah, Dampier has played like crap, but..... so has Dirk. He had no right to call anyone out, cuz he's been playing just as crappy as the next guy. And I loved how at halftime, the analysts pointed out that Dirk was still screwing up, and Dampier was having a great game.

I have always been against teammates calling out teammates, especially DURING the season. I fully supported Webber when he did it last year, just because the season was over and SOMEONE had to let Peja know his effort was worthless. But after Game 1 of a series? And after being a non-factor in your teams first 8 playoff games? Not smart on Dirk's part...
 
Everybody says we need a leader, but that Dirk was wrong for what he did.

Dirk calls out Dampier. Dampier has a good game. Dirk himself goes for 23 pts, 12 rebs, on 8 of 18 shooting and hits the game winner with 7 seconds left. Barkley says Dirk didn't play well.
 
Barkley is a known Dirk hater from the incident back in 1997, the failed Auburn recruitment, and Dirk calling Barkley a moron after we won Game 5 against Utah in our first Dirk-led playoff run. Dirk could drop 50 points and 20 rebounds and Barkley would hate on him, it is just how it is, they have a past and Barkley can't be non bias.

Nowtizki just went into the best team in the NBAs house (record wise) and dropped 25.5 PPG, 12.5 RPG, shot 50% from the field (21-42), and hit the game winner with 6.8 seconds left in the game.
 
yah, shaq said "Ive been playing like Erick Dampier" saying that hes been sucking lately.... LOL!
