This is maybe another take on Stern getting booed but...
the last few minutes of blowout game 6 was a stain (literally) on that time honored parkay floor in Boston with several players bringing their little kids out of the stands with several minutes left in the contest and then Paul Pierce pulling his pathetically worn out Gatoraid trick on Doc Rivers (first used by NY Giants players over 20 years ago dumping on Bill Parcells). The whole clowning episode at the end of the series, which was supposed to be a dramatic NBA finals playoff game was juvenile and un-professional. No wonder, I continue to like more pure joy NCAA basketball at its highest level a helluva lot better than going down hill into oblivion NBA product (see signature below!)
Maybe it's all on Stern (BOOO!!) as he's now by far the longest reining commish of any major sports league in history and has apparently lost all control/respect of refs, players, fans, image, product, the whole fricking deal!
The end of that game was priceless. The joy in KG, Pierce, Ray Allen's eyes. The whole team hugging one another, from 12th men to Big 3. Then, the backups on the floor playing for a possible biggest win ever in the Finals (which they had for a few second at 43). I mean, they were still ooping it and knocking down three's while the rest of the team and personnel celebrated on the bench.
Also, the raw emotion of all the players (especially KG just letting it all out and Pierce at the end holding up the trophy) is probably the best championship celebration I've ever seen in my life.
Its too bad you couldn't appreciate it in the same way.
You think that 19-20 year old kids with no sense of perspective, and that are only in college in the first place because they have to be express more joy than those men whom have finally achieved something that they've spent their entire lives working towards? The officials "could" have called a technical on any individual player or the entire Boston bench when players brought "civilians" into restricted area during the game - again with nearly 3 minutes to go.
