Kings notes: Kings, Bucks talked trade

DENVER - There's a seat under a member of the Kings that may be getting hotter by the day.
And it's not the one belonging to coach Rick Adelman.
Reserve forward Kenny Thomas was part of trade talks in late October, when the Kings pursued veteran swingman Desmond Mason. Instead, Mason - who averaged 17.5 points with Milwaukee in the 2004-05 season - was sent from the Bucks to the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets for center Jamaal Magloire, an unconditional first-round pick in 2006 and cash.
Thomas was the Kings' returning starter until the 11th hour of the preseason, when newly acquired Shareef Abdur-Rahim won the job. Before this season, he had started in 243 of 285 games since the 2001-02 season, and made his preference clear that he's more comfortable in that role.
In four games of coming off the bench, Thomas is off to a slow start, shooting 35.3 percent while averaging 4.5 points and 16 minutes per game. His production is key for a bench that has been as sluggish as any in the league, scoring an average of 17.3 points thus far.
Road warriors - The Kings' marathon stretch of road games came to a fitting end, with an early-morning arrival in Denver and little sleep after losing to Detroit at home Tuesday night. Kings assistant coach Elston Turner said the team arrived around 2 a.m., with the drive from the airport to downtown Denver nearly an hour.
"It's probably the worst travel schedule in the West, because of the time change and where the airport's at," Adelman said.
Starting in the preseason and including Wednesday night's game against the Nuggets, the Kings played eight of nine games away from Arco Arena.
Fast times - The Nuggets had two days off to prepare for the Kings, having lost Sunday to the Los Angeles Lakers. Before tipoff, Adelman said his biggest concern was the Kings' awful transition defense facing a rested Nuggets squad looking for its second win.
"I fully expect them to just push it at us all night long," Adelman said. "Our transition defense has not been good. This is a team that could really hurt us if we don't get back."
García recovering - Kings swingman Francisco García said he'll try to practice today, with hopes of playing against the Nuggets on Friday night at Arco Arena. García sprained his right ankle Sunday and has been on the inactive list since.

Damn! But, its good to know about these things, that the Kings brass are actively looking to better the team. Gives us hope that the team personnel can get better.
