DeMarcus Cousins : "Bynum doesn't deserve to touch the trophy!"

http://twitter.com/boogiecousins/status/16443431017

I like the fact that Boogie is not afraid to "challenge" the other more established bigs in the league already.

Most likely DMC watched Bynum's performance and thought that he didn't do enough and is not as good as advertised. Cousins knows he is better than Bynum. Its almost meant to be that Cousins ends up a King so he can go take out the lakers and their bigs.

I have no doubt that our boy will be a better than Bynum within 2 seasons, at most. I believe Cousins is already more skilled than Bynum. I say 2 seasons only because he just needs to put in his time to gain the NBA experience that you can't subsitute.

:D

Well if he is talking I guess that means he is willing to do what it takes to be better than him, and deserve to hold the trophy.

His attitude is starting to pee me off. I hate the lakers too, but you can't just say whatever you want knowing it will be online 5 minutes later. This isn't the 5th grade where you can just say whatever.
Cousins needs to keep his mouth shut if he wants to have a career and show some respect.

lol YESSSSS! The rivalry is being renewed and this time we have the quote machine. I hope he talks smack about Bynums mama's mama! Cousins is comin for ya!!! Hes MEAN!

I feel almost the exact opposite of this. We now have a guy who will talk smack and get in the other team's heads/make them think about him. Quotes like this to me show that Cousins has already taken on the Kings as his own. This is great news. We've got a big old Grizzly Bear who is going to protect the clan.

Not to mention create a media swirl that will lead to more national attention, ratings, money, etc.

He's the perfect compliment to Tyreke. Good cop bad cop at it's best.

I agree though, this is a bold thing for a rookie to say. But I've got no problem with it!!

5 minutes later? You mean immediately. And he's the one who put it online. He ain't no dummy. This is quite intentional. I like it.

I know what you mean. While I don't agree when guys become disrespectful, in this case its just DMC's swagger showing through.

This comment is just Cousins' own evaluation of Bynum's performance and talent. And he knows he can back it up and its not really hating or talking crap. You have to be a lil cocky to have confidence if you will.

There are some guys out there that seems "scared" to challenge the lakers or don't even dare to speak of it. I think thats just weakness. Its time for Kings fans to feel like we deserve it just as much as the lakers/yankees fans out there.

Haha, summer league hasnt even begun and Cousins is already getting to work! Its a damn shame i wont get to see any of it.

er...generally you should wait until, I don't know, you have played maybe ONE game in the league before starting to yap. And about somebody that as far as I know is totally unrelated to him as well. Either this was absolutely intentional, or somebody asked a very particular question to elicit such a reaction. Given its twitter, which I'm afraid is going to be the end of us all, and is especially damaging to athletes, it was probably just him on his own initiative. Wonder if he considered this is not the best way to put to rest the questions about your attiude.

Am i the only one here who noticed that this is old? This was posted almost two weeks ago. Technically he wasn't in the NBA when he made this comment, so since that is the case, he was giving his opinion just like any other huge NBA fan.

keep in mind this was posted on the 17th... so the draft had not even happened yet.

That sort of changes it. I was going to say that this is kind of inappropriate for a just drafted rookie to be saying, but if he's saying it before the draft from a fan's perspective, then it's a little different. Just a little, though. I prefer my rookies to be seen and not heard. Bring it on the court, DMC. Until then, no reason to open your yap.

He must be blind because Bynum played through a very serious injury and made a pretty big impact when he was in. What Bynum did that whole postseason was very gutsy and he deserves a championship just as much as anyone else on that Lakers team.

He must feel like Bynum gets too much credit, because in addition to Pau being his favorite big man, I think he's spoken highly about Kobe. It definitely isn't generic Laker hate.

I agree with Vlade that it's misplaced. Bynum may have been overhyped at points in his young career, but there are certainly plenty of guys walking around with rings who contributed a lot less to championship seasons.

Hey, hopefully it means Cousin's will hold his own performance to a high standard, because he certainly has every bit of talent he needs to dominate. On that subject, anybody hear Calipari talking about DMC on 1140 the other day? I saw a brief writeup about it, and apparently he said that any attitude concerns are totally overblown, he has the most upside in the draft including Wall, and that he'll be the most efficient rookie in the league.

He played through a serious injury, sure, but I don't know about the "made a pretty big impact" part. He definitely played his part throughout the playoffs, but his impact was pretty minimal in the conference finals and the Finals.

Yes Bynum has been highly overrated because he is on the lakers. All that talk of him being one of the top 2 or 3 centers in the league is nonsense. For Cousins to say what he said, its probably more of an overall thing and not just for the one series.

Cousins has all the talent in the world to be the best big man in the league. Yes, he is that good and will be a superstar if he works hard.

Where did you find that write up? please share with us..

As long as he can walk the walk, then he can talk the talk. Doesn't bother me. I seem to remember Shaq calling us the Sacramento Queens. If this gets the rivalry going again, then lets get it on. We'll take our lumps for a while, but we can let the know that the handwriting is on the wall..

I'm not a big fan of Bynum's and think he's somewhat overrated. But I do think he impacted the finals just by his mere presence on the floor. As long as Gasol was on the floor at the same time. He wasn't nearly as effective when he was out there without Gasol. Don't misunderstand me. I think Bynum is a fine player. I just don't think he's as good as some think he is.

This time of year I browse around a lot more places than usual. The RealGM forum maybe? I was hoping somebody here heard it and could confirm the account.

I don't know about the write up, but I listened to the Calapari interview on the Rise Guys. And in the interview he said exactly what you stated. Anyone that wants to listen to it, its posted on the KHTK website under the Rise Guys. I also heard the statement from Cousins when asked who he admired as a player. He said he looked up to no one as a mentor, but likened his game to Gasol's, who he really likes.
