Defense still not addressed

A balanced bench will help a lot. I'm not worried about our starting five, it's gonna stay that way unless Petrie trades one of the core, which I don't really see going down. I'm satisfied and pretty happy with our S5. It's not like the guys on the bench will be starting unless something happens to a starter. The bench will have some tweaking done to it for sure, and make it deep w/ versatility.

I don't think we should be saying things like "there's no balance". We won't know how things are on the floor until the first month or so of the season. Get a glimpse in pre-season.

we have no balance. every defensive minded player comes off the bench. garcia, kenny, skinner, corliss, hart, samson
not such a bad thing. offensive starters, defensive bench. I've never seen it quite as obvious as this, but it may just work.

It doesn't take a genius or a soothsayer to take a look at our lineup and tell its all offense, little defense.

When the trade with Philly went down everyone was crying because we didn't get a starter in return, all bench players. Well, so far this summer (which is still relatively young considering events yet to unfold league-wide) GP has relegated one to the bench and upgraded (I think we all agree) our SG position to a Scoring Guard. Let him work out the starters and then fill in the bench...If the bench only plays 10-20% of the game then the starters should get most of the initial focus and I truly believe he has something up his sleeve to get us a starting or big minutes - big man. But if he isn't able to pull it off this year I still think he's done a great job to make us competitive again.

Uh, yeah, obviously right now. But the roster isn't set yet, and we have to see them play for a month or so first. Get a peak in pre-season.

Anyone who thinks the roster is set or near set, might as well skip the rest of this month, and the following two. ;)

Yeah, I actually like the idea of it. Offensive starters, we become explosive right from the start and get a comfotable lead. Let the bench in, and most of them are great role players, whom will try to keep the lead in check, then back with the starters, to blow this game out.

Yay! Go Kings! :O

Yeah this is what worries me BIG TIME...I'm not at all satisfied with this team defensively...even if most our bench is more defensive minded...still nothing special to me (defensively anyway)

Unless we're playing such bad defense that an average offensive team outscores us (or at least keeps pace). I'm afraid that we'll have to go to the bench early to bring in some defense...in that case, having 5 offensive studs out there to start the game doesn't do a whole lot of good.

We wear our new neon green jerseys and our opponents are so dazed and blinded they miss all their shots. Then we don't need defense, just great offense:D

LOL, it reminds me a quote from "ice age":
'I dont know about you guys but we are the weirdest herd I have ever seen.'

As long as Bibby is a King and plays major minutes - Kings will not be a defensive team of any quality.
Mike Bibby
Ron Artest
Andrei Kirilenko
Kevin Garnett
Ben Wallace

How about that? Still terrible at D?

IF the starting lineup can play some TEAM DEFENSE than we are not really in that bad of position. As long as the bench provides the sparks we will need..

A couple of years ago when it was Vlade/Miller/Peja/Chistie/Bibby we played some pretty good team defense, and had NO PROBLEM outscoring people. Our energy level would decrease as the game went on, and we would let a lot of teams back into it though.

As long as we play lights out offense, decent team defense, and have some of our bench players play some good individual D throughout the middle of the game than we will be fine. Now playoffs are a different picture. We will need to be able to play some shut down defense against a couple teams out there.

haha with that team Bibby could take breaks when they team is on D. It could be a 4 on 5 and we would still be OK. :D

Most PGs are subpar defenders. We just happen to have one that is subpar even for a PG. I'm sure if we had a good defensive scheme and good players on the court we could be a good team on D in spite of Bibby.

We had a player who defended for two

Well Bibby is a horrible defender, but at least we have a player that can defend the two and put the body on someone and an active big man who might not block many shots, but can step out quickly and make the guy penetrating switch to something else.
Our D hasn't all that much, but we have a lot more talent and options on offense. Good enough for me.

Don't hold a grudge do ya piksi. I guess I should have expected that from you. Believe it or not Christie couldn't play D for two people. He was great at cutting off the passing lanes, but the team, including Mr. Mike Bibby played pretty damn good defense (weren't they toward the top of league in opp fg% at one point?). As it stands no one on the Kings last year played very good D, including a certain favorite player of yours.

The fact of the matter is, they can all play D. Those that have been on the team in the past have proven they can play D as a team. Why is the team's defensive performance soley encumbent on one person in your mind?
